"Puaaah!! Hekk...gaaasssp...cough… cough—"
"Well… this is it for me, huh?" said the red-eyed boy as he coughed up blood, it spilling from his mouth. His dark hair was sticky with dried blood, his whole body covered in it from head to toe. Badly injured, he lay on the dirty stone floor of the dump hole he was doomed to die in—with the blood coming from his wounds, adding to the dirt on the stone floor, making it a pool of blood , his head resting on his backpack.
He couldn't move any part of his body anymore—not even his lower half anymore—His spinal cord was broken, and now his body was completely useless. One of his legs—already injured—was full of burn holes from the guards… or the warden? He didn't even know the difference. Their magic blasts had hit him when he made that stupid jump into the hole to save his life, only for it to turn out even worse. Now his leg was mangled beyond repair.
But that wasn't the worst part—he had also lost his right arm.
He lost his right arm because of the demon rats that attacked him earlier—they do quite number of him, drawn by the blood pouring from his injured leg. Their bodies were four times bigger than rats in the human world—huge, monstrous things. Now, they were nothing but corpses, killed by the tanned boy who refused to let them eat him that easily. Their blood and torn bodies were scattered around him, piled up like chunks of meat, releasing an awful stench.
Strangely, the smell reminded the red-eyed kid of rotting human flesh from melt down corpse yeah very familiar scent. Beside his body—now useless and slowly dying—lay his weapon that he used to proctect him the steel-black axe, completely blunt. His other tool were still there too, stained and battered, the very things that had kept him alive until now. He looked at the weapon he'd used against the demon rats. He stared at it, his lips curling into a dissatisfied grimace, his brow twitching as he muttered a curse under his breath.
"There goes my 346-dollar axe… Didn't help much, huh? As I'm fucked anyway now....heh At least their blood didn't splash onto my backpack...cough...cough....haaaaaak...S-still,i feel like.. I got scammed,this..this Cheap-ass steel axe… cough. Man, I should get my .....money..... back ....after this."
He let out a weak chuckle as he's continuing to speak in a weak voice."What the hell am I thinking… Heh. Still worrying about this stuff wh-when I'm literally dying? heh...hehehe... Damn. I-i cough! really lost my mind am i?...cought...so this how it feel?—by someone that could hear death's already knocking on their door?… hehe. Guess this is how those ol' pati—cought! Cought .. felt, huh? In their final time."The fourteen-year-old laughed quietly, pathetically, at his own situation. Every second that passed His head grew heavier and heavier, his red eyes drooping as his eyelids struggled to stay open. He tried to keep them open, but his vision kept blurring more and more. His chest rose and fell slowly, weakly, struggling to catch whatever air he still could. With every breath, his heart pumped less effectively, drained by the blood he had lost, and each inhale came with a constant, dull pain.
His tan skin started to look pale and slightly flushed at the same time, like there was barely any blood left in his body. He stared up at the stone ceiling of this dark yet awfull smell dumpster pit, thinking this might be the last thing he'd ever see. His ears rang nonstop, the sound drowning out everything else, making his situation feel even more pathetic.
…Really, truly pathetic...
The eyes...the boy eyes… his eyes—the crimson red slowly dulled, fading bit by bit as his soul felt like it was slipping away in same time There was pain, an overwhelming pain for some reason as he soul slowly out from his body, but he couldn't react to it anymore. His face had gone numb. His lips dried out, turning a faint purplish color, unable to move, unable to form any of the words he had thrown around so easily before. Now they stayed still, cold.
One by one, his nerves shut down. He noticed it. He felt it. He knew his time had already come. Yet there was nothing he could do—no movement, no voice—only thoughts left inside his head. His brain was still working… at least the last part of it, right before everything reached the end.
"…Even in this life," he thought weakly, "I still couldn't achieve anything I wanted, huh?"
That was the first thought that lingered in the mind of Rafheal.
"…"
The boy kept staring at the ceiling as his eyes slowly closed.
"Why… why does my fate have to be like this…?" his thoughts lingered. "Why… is it too much to ask… for a good, normal life…?"
His thoughts kept spilling out in his head."i really don't wanna to do with any of this magical rainbow bullshit..."there a pause."could i just have good normal life as extra...i just want live a life..."his thoughts become more and more weak." I really envies those people who don't have to deal with this..i truely i am envies them...i really want a normal life, a life i never couldn't....have from my previous...a life i almost have at this chances..."
"Is that really too much to ask??"
His mind trembled with bitterness.
"Why you… why are you toying with my life like this… God? Are you making me suffer just because of some harmless comment I once gave you…?"
Raffy could only say all of that silently in his head as his eyes finally gave in.
"But… here I am… dying pathetically, like a worthless extra… just the childhood friend of a clueless protagonist who can't tell the difference between real life and fantasy."
(Author:atleast not in dumb way)
The boy's eyes slowly drifted shut as his nervous system finally gave up—his brain still working, but fading bit by bit.
"Ah… right....right...i remember now... In the first place… I couldn't ask for those things… could I?" his thoughts dragged on weakly. "Even if I never said anything to that God… even if I never bad-mouthed them… they still wouldn't have granted me something that luxurious…they still wouldn't sent me to other...shitty world."
"..."
"yeah… yeah, I get it now…"
His eyes were fully closed now, yet his mind clung on for just a moment longer.
"That bastard isn't a God… just a bitch… and next time… I'm going to punch them."He believed it. Even as everything inside him dimmed, he clung to that stubborn promise — that somehow, somewhere, he would stand face to face with that so-called God again as he Will meet them after this. Those were the last words he said in his mind as his thoughts unraveled—
—and everything went dark and cold.
Rafheal's lifeless body lay there on top of the cold, dirty stone floor, his blood pooling around him as all the heat in his body disappeared little by little until he was nothing more than the lifeless corpse of a teenager, dying alone as himself.
...
....
"hoo...Truly, thou art a soul of strange and wondrous intrigue."
A voice broke the darkness...of the room like something had been watching him. A voice...No — not a single voice. Many. Layered of lots defferent voice of people together. Deep. Old. Amused. As though countless throats spoke in perfect unison. The darkness around him rippled.
"Ahh… what a sorrowful waste it would be, to suffer a soul such as thine to perish here so pitifully. Thou art… most intriguing to mine eyes. The words thou hast spoken—those little confessions thou didst whisper—ahh… they stir a most curious interest within me—Nay… I shall not allow thee to die here.… thou shalt walk with me instead, Hohoho…"it said again — but this time its voice was followed by the sound of… water? No, a sound of .....
Shhhhh....
Shhhhh...
———
Shhhhh...
Shhhhh...
In the blink of an eye, something different happened as everything that used to be there vanished into thin air—the environment shifted to this place. A very dark place that looked almost the same as the void, with nothing here… just emptiness. A vast world of pitch-black darkness, like even light itself had been devoured by it. But there was still a sound that could be heard—the sound of waves.
Shhhhh.....
Shhhhh....
The sound kept coming. This place wasn't just a dark void after all. There was the gentle sound of waves, like this place was part of a sea. The continuous motion created the soft rhythm of water moving around. This dark place felt like the very bottom of the sea, everything reinforcing that feeling, as several air bubbles drifted upward like they would in the deep ocean.
But there was something in the middle of this darkness, staying still at the center—a small figure floating in the nothingness a body of fourteen year old teen with black hair and Tan brown skin, his half close eyes show his his pupils are red but lightless. A badly injured child, his clothes completely soaked red and torn, with some of his limbs gone.
The body didn't move. It didn't show any movement at all, as there was nothing left that could make the kid's body move—it had already gone rigid. But whose body is this? Well, it's none other than Rafheal (Raffy). He's dead now after losing so much blood and getting heavily infected from his fight against the demon rats that why he shouldn't be here, in this place. His body was supposed to be lying dead in that pit. His corpse shouldn't be able to move anywhere, let alone end up here… but now he's here, in this dark deep sea like void, because something brought his dead body here… yeah, something.
And right now, at this moment, it's watching Raffy with its eyes.
"Skrrrr… rrrrkkkk…"
A deep grunt sound came from that thing, louder and heavier than anything in the world could produce—not even a whale or anything else. The sound was… fierce and heavy.
Shhhhhhh-h..
Shhhhhhh-h....
It moved—no, it was always moving through the darkness. Every movement it created waves through the water around it, followed by air bubbles drifting upward. It almost felt like the creature was enormous. It kept staring at Raffy in front of it as Raffy's body—a lifeless vessel—floated there.
...
Yet there was still a small light coming from the kid's chest cavity, a whitish glow that flickered like a candle about to die out. It kept fading… fading more and more in the empty darkness of this forsaken realm the boy was now in.
"Sssssssssss… huhu… haaaah…
Ahhh… there thou art at last."
Said the thing with a deep, old voice, layered with multiple voices, letting out a grunt of amusement, followed by bursts of bubbles as everything around it shifted when it spoke. Its tone carried amusement as it continued.
"Huhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhu… thou art… interesting. Yessss… most interesting indeed. A child of the long line… the descendants of Adam and Eve. I can taste it within thee."
The creature spoke while moving through the deep, dark realm, wriggling through the water. It didn't swim like a fish—more like a reptile with no legs or arms. Along parts of its long body were large fins that looked almost like wings. Its voice slithered through the darkness, heavy and ancient.
"Among the countless children born of that lineage… thou alone stirrest mine curiosity. There is something… delightfully crooked within thy spirit... huhuhuhuhu..."
The creature's enormous form coiled slowly as it circled through the abyss around Raffy's body.
"Thy body—thy vessel—hath but newly died. Not long hath passed since its fall… and yet here thou lingerest." A low, amused rumble followed.
"Sssss… the breath of life yet clings to thee. The flame within thy mortal shell flickers still… though its light grows faint, like a torch abandoned in the wind."
The serpent's voice lowered, dripping with twisted amusement.
"And those little whispers within thy heart… those secret longings… ahhh… they bind what remains of thy life-spirit like chains. Huhuhuhu… yesss. I find it most pleasing."
Its massive coils shifted again in the dark water.
"Thusssss… I shall not allow thee to perish."
.....
.....
A long pause followed, as though the creature were smiling. Though it didn't really look like a smile—its mouth twisted strangely, its jaw elongated, showing nothing inside. Only emptiness. No teeth, no tongue—nothing could be seen. It looked like a monster not from Earth… not even from the demon realm. It felt like something else entirely… something very outer… primordial.
"Thou art… too perfect a specimen to waste. I shall seize thy wandering soul… and thrust it once more into its vessel of flesh."
The thing's laughter echoed softly.
"Huhuhuhu… and in return… I shall bestow upon thee gifts beyond thy mortal comprehension."
Its voice became almost ceremonial, like an ancient god declaring a decree.
"Rejoice, little one… O child of humankind, O descendant of Adam and Eve…"
As it spoke, its eyes became visible through the dim light of that place—four red eyes looking down at the boy, whose body was no bigger than a grain of rice compared to it."Sssss… thou shalt have much for which to be grateful." After saying that, the thing—the long serpent-like creature—moved around Raffy's body, circling him at an unbelievably fast speed, something impossible for a creature that massive. The water around it churned violently from the sheer movement of that enormous being, forming a whirlpool so intense it could destroy a body.
The vortex tightened, shrinking the space around Raffy's body as it continued to close in. The pressure built, pressing in on him, leaving no space at all. The massive creature kept circling Raffy, getting closer and closer—then its head came from above, lunging down with its mouth wide open toward him.
!!!!
"Huweee!!!"
A small surprised sound came out from none other than Raffy. His reda eyes blink couple time before open his mouth in a small, hoarse voice "What the— yawn… hmmm… what was that dream about?" He jolted awake as everything that had just happened turned out to be a dream(?). He looked a bit annoyed, waking up from such a bizarre dream. "Man, that was awful… what time is it?" Raffy said as he looked at his phone. It showed 4 a.m. "4 a.m., huh? Yawn… I need to go jog now…"
He started to move his body to sat up and get ready to do his usual, but something held him down—something heavy on his chest. He looked down. He was wearing a training suit, which he normally wouldn't wear to sleep. Then he spotted something on his chest—a strand of hair… no, not just hair—a head...a person head...
That's when he realized.
It was Luz.
"What the— Luz???" Raffy said in surprise, but quietly, more like a mumble. He saw his childhood friend—her head resting on his chest, her arms wrapped around his stomach with that goofy sleeping face with drool running down. His thoughts shifted from that weird dream to one question—how is she here?
Did she came into his room and crawl to his bed?? Did his mom let Luz come over while he was asleep? A bunch of thoughts rushed through his head as he tried to figure out what was going on.
Then—thump.
A tiny foot—more like a paw—hit his cheek. "Huwaak!" Raffy reacted as something smacked the left side of his face.
He turned his head and saw it—a small, dark-gray canine… a dog? No, not really. It looked like one, but not quite. It had something like a skull over its head, a red collar… and most of all, it was holding a bunny plush as it could speak?!?
"Hmm… that's the way… Mr. Bunny… let's rule… hmm… the demon realm…" the little thing mumbled in its sleep. He blinked his eyes a couple more times, trying to recognize the little creature in front of him. It was hard to see clearly since the whole room was still dark. "That… thing talks???" he murmured as he carefully moved a bit to see that creature more closer, not too forcefully. He didn't want to wake Luz up—knowing her, that would be troublesome....but soon he will regret it.
As he started moving more, a sharp pain jolted through his entire body and nerves, making his red pupils shrink as his eyes went wide open. The sensation felt like being crushed by twenty meat hammers at once. He wanted to scream from it, but somehow, he endured it—as a single tear slid down his cheek, soaking into the pillow behind his head as he held in the pain.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!! BANGSAT! (BASTARD!), BASTOS NA LANG! (FUCKING BASTARD!) ITS HURT!! ¡Coño! ¡Me duele! ¡Me duele! ¡Esto duele pa' carajo! ¡Aaah, qué dolor! ¡Singao!(Damn! It hurts! It hurts! This hurts like hell! Aaah, what pain! Damn it!)"
All those he saying all in his mind as He couldn't say a word out loud—only think it, didn't want to wake up any more troublesome (Luz) if he screaming...he keep swearing inside his head because he still feel the pain—after sometimes he start to calm as all the pain in his body subdue,he now could take a deep breathe but still wouldn't say anything.
"Xarị wa!! (What the hell!), why does my whole body feel like shit right now?! All my muscles are sore and my nerves are screaming in pain FUCK!—what the actual fuck happ—" Raffy thought as he felt cloth… no, bandages. He realized his whole body was wrapped in them, and there was cotton on his right cheek. All of it made him start wondering what the hell happened yesterday—why he looked like a hit-and-run patient.
But his thoughts were cut short as memories suddenly rushed back—everything he had just experienced. The summer camp, the owl, Luz, that gulag-like place, the witch... that cheap clone of baba yaga—all of it came flooding into his mind. His expression shifted into disbelief.
"…Oh God… Ôi chết tiệt (oh shit)..… this is actually happening… I'm… I'm in the demon realm," he said in a low voice, a hint of fear in his tone...
.....
.....
.....
Upon realizing the reality he was in, he could only take long, heavy breaths, slowly inhaling the air of the demon realm into his lungs. He didn't say anything at all—not out loud, not even in his head. He was just… silent. The only sound in the room was Luz's gentle breathing as she slept, her head shifting slightly on Raffy's chest as she changed position. Beside them, the mutated-looking dog—King—mumbled in his sleep.
"Be afraid… hmmm… as… sss… I'm… your rulerrr…" the little Pokémon-looking thing muttered with a smirk—well, who could tell with that skull-like face as he hugging tightly that bunny plushy in his Tiny arm....as it little feet keep hitting his cheek...but its doesnt bother him anymore
The room was filled with old junk covered in dust, a table with a small pot of flowers… demon flowers. A pile of pillows sat beside something like a treasure chest, and a small purple mattress lay nearby. Nothing else made a sound in the room… only those two, leaving him in deep, deep thought as he looked up at the wooden ceiling in the dark room, narrowing his eyes.
Then he noticed something—small… no, a bunch of bubbles. Yeah, bubbles. Random bubbles floating around the room. He stared at them tiredly. Was this normal? He wanted to think about it, question it—but he didn't. He was in the demon realm now. Seeing something this bizarre was probably normal here.
He let out another heavy breath—Before he slowly moved both his arms and hands toward his face. With every inch he moved, he felt soreness, aching muscles, and pain through every damn fiber of flesh in his bandaged arms under his long sleeves and tracksuit—from the extensor digitorum muscles up to the deltoids in his shoulder joints. God, it was painful… not just his muscles—he could feel how weak his bones were, struggling to support even the smallest movement. He could only grit his teeth in silence… as his bruised, bandaged hands covered his face.
"Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck…" he said slowly and tiredly, this time out loud, but in a low voice.
"This is my nightmare…" he muttered, making an annoyed, pissed-off face. "Why did I agree to stay here with her in the first place…" he added quietly, careful not to wake Luz and King, who were still fast asleep.
"Well done, Rafheal… you've already taken a great step toward your doomed extra story… how brave, extra," Raffy said sarcastically to himself.
Raffy let his hands slide down from his face, dragging slowly over the single cotton on his cheek as if he could peel the situation off with them—but of course he couldn't. He was stuck here now… very stuck. There wasn't any step-sibling that could help him out here…
He started to move his arms away—slowly, as the pain kept killing him. He thought maybe he should've taken a dozen painkillers. If he hadn't woken up at this hour, he wouldn't be feeling this pain or mentally doomed about his situation—but nooo, he thought he'd be fine without it and just go straight to sleep.
"…Yeah, genius move," he whispered to himself, his voice dry and flat, as he started thinking about what he should do next if this kind of stuff happened again.
"Next time, I SHOULD bonk her… or run away before she drags me into any of her canon events," he said.
His eyes drifted to the side again—back to Luz. She wasn't resting her head on his chest anymore, which made him breathe a bit easier, but now she was holding onto one of his arms. He didn't even know when that happened—he'd just moved it after touching his face.
She shifted a little in her sleep, tightening her grip on his arm like he was some kind of body pillow. Her face scrunched for a second before relaxing again, drool still very much there. Completely unbothered—she completely at her peace. Raffy stared at her for a long second… a long pause...at the view his eyes staring at.
"Tch…."
He flicked his tongue as he mumbled something almost no one could hear. "Your face sure looks peaceful, huh, Luz…" he said first, before adding more. "Sigh… now what should I even do… can't go anywhere now, trapped in another world… another world… can't believe I said it twice… Can't go home—that's already clear… stuck here with this protagonist in her canon storyline…" he muttered in a low voice, his expression flat.
He tried to move the arm she was hugging, but it didn't budge. She held it tight, like one of those body pillows some old weebs have. Eventually, he just gave up—too tired, and it didn't work anyway.
Instead, his gaze shifted upward again, back to the ceiling. The wood looked old… warped… but the craftsmanship was surprisingly solid. It looked aged, yet still sturdy, a mix of wood and something like concrete or stone. And those weird floating bubbles? Yeah, still there. One of them drifted lazily past his face, wobbling in the dim light coming through the ceramic multicolored glass window in the room.
.....
He narrowed his eyes as he watched the bubbles floating in the air above his face. There were a lot of them. He knew he told himself not to question anything right now—because stuff like this was probably normal in this God-forsaken place—but humans were curious by nature, and he hated that feeling.
"¡¡Coño, Dios maldita sea!!… I hate this feeling," he muttered under his breath as he kept staring at them.
He slowly raised his left arm. The muscles and bones still ached (though not as bad as the right one), but he pushed through it, stretching his hand out and pointing his finger toward the bubbles in front of his face. He wanted to touch them—
Then he stopped mid-movement, thinking.
"This is gonna be a bad idea….... I don't know why...i really want to touch this," he muttered to himself. " Damm it..If that thing pops and releases some weird demon gas or whatever, I swear to God…" he added—But his curiosity took over...its win over him.
As he touched one bubble that drifting to his face slowly with one finger, it felt weird. "Eh?" he said, confused and surprised. It didn't pop… it really didn't.
He touched it again, this time with his whole hand. It still didn't pop.
"What the?" he mumbled, confused. He held it in his palm. The bubble felt strange—strong and durable, yet soft, like a squishy toy.
"This… this is really weird, heh…" he said with a small amused grin, though still weirded out, his brow slightly furrowed. "This consistency is really weird… like rubber or resin, but not sticky… feels like holding a full-blown water bubble," he muttered.
Then he let it go, and it started floating away again. The bubble drifted off his palm like nothing happened—just wobbling away. His eyes followed it as it floated upward, bumping lightly into another one. They didn't merge. Didn't pop. Just… bounced off each other like soft rubber balls.
"It looks like it's not made of soap at all… I mean, it doesn't even look like it has any soap in it," he muttered to himself.
Another bubble drifted closer—this one slower, almost like it was teasing him. Raffy narrowed his eyes at it.
"This one looks closer… hope this one pops," he mumbled, then—against his better judgment again—he poked it.
Boop!
A soft, almost… elastic sound as the bubble burst. He froze.
"Huh, this one just popped?… is this bubble different from the—" he mumbled, but before he could finish, a series of soft popping sounds followed as the others started going off in a chain reaction, making him blink.
Pop!
Poop!
Pop!
Pop!
"Are you shitting me?" he muttered. "But… the one before was firm… how is this one also popping?" he added, confused, questioning it."ouch!"Then his attention shifted to Sharped pain that cause by Luz, who was still beside him, clinging tightly to his injured arm...
"…mmgh—" she mumbled in her sleep, still drooling.
"This brat…" he muttered, annoyed at his sleeping childhood friend committing crimes on his arm. "I'm hurting, goddammit, and here you are moving to my side when I clearly—" he paused.
"Wait a damn minute—didn't I put up a dividing wall in the middle? Where did that thing go?"
He glanced around the room again, scanning for it. After a moment, his eyes finally found it—his gaze landed on the so-called "dividing wall," now above them near the glass window. She had clearly yeeted it earlier, probably while asleep. Now it was just sitting there like nothing happened (it even scratched the wall a bit). It was made of wood too—not hardwood, but still wood, not cheap plastic. Raffy couldn't even think how she managed to throw it while sleeping.
"…of course she threw it there…." Raffy sighed quietly.
He then moved his free arm—the one she wasn't hugging—and reached for his phone. The time read 4:45 A.M. He'd been awake for 45 minutes, doing nothing but getting hit by reality, questioning everything, and dealing with the overwhelming pain from earlier.
"Great…" he muttered to himself. "Seems I'll have to pass on this one… no morning jog for me, I guess… for a while? I can't even tell if it's safe to go around this world at this hour when I barely know anything about this place," he mumbled, giving up on the idea.
"Yawn… seems going back to sleep is better right now… rather than dealing with this headache so early in the morning, thinking about everything and questioning those weird bubbles… should I ask that Baba Yaga about it? Nah…" he said as sleepiness started to take over. He put his phone aside and gently pushed King away from his face down toward his feet.
"But first…" he looked at Luz, still hugging his arm. "Need to free myself from her…" he muttered as he tried—again—for the third time—to pull his arm free.
"…slow… slow…" Raffy whispered under his breath, like he was defusing a bomb instead of escaping a sleeping girl who was drooling all over the mattress. He gently twisted his wrist first, enduring a small flinch of pain.
"God damn it…" he mumbled—just enough to loosen the angle. Luz's grip was still there, but not as tight as before. Then he carefully slid his arm back a little."hHm… hmmm." Luz mumbled in her sleep, making Raffy freeze for a second before continuing. Raffy's eyes narrowed with focus, his breathing shallow as he moved inch by inch.
"Por favor… no te despiertes… no te despiertes… oye, no te despiertes… ni se te ocurra, ¿oíste?"With one smooth, careful motion—he slipped his arm out."…phew, finally," he said in a low tone, staring at his arm.
"…you've suffered enough."He flexed his fingers slightly—wincing as a dull ache still lingered, but nothing compared to before.
Beside him, Luz shifted again—this time rolling slightly onto her side, hugging the empty space where his arm used to be. Her face relaxed again, completely unaware of the struggle that had just taken place. Raffy glanced at her.
"…you really used me as a pillow, huh…"
After a small pause, he pushed himself up slightly from the mattress (he flinched a bit), then reached for Luz's pillow, which was far from her head."…and you really can't stay still when you sleep, geez—even your pillow's scattered this far…" he muttered before placing it under her head and pulling the blanket over her. He looked at her for a moment, watching her sleep. Then he exhaled quietly, shaking his head a little.
"…unbelievable…"
He lay back down, adjusting himself carefully, turning onto his side—away from her this time, putting just a bit of distance between them… just enough. His eyes drifted toward the window for a moment—the faint early light barely creeping through the colored glass, casting soft, strange patterns across the room. The dividing wall still sat up there."heh…still can't believe you threw that…"Then he glanced down toward their feet and saw King curled up near them, still hugging that bunny plush.
Then his gaze went up to the ceiling one more time. "Demon… realm, huh…" he said in a low voice as sleepiness started to take over.
"Can I… survive… here?" he muttered to himself, a bit skeptical, as he slowly closed his eyes. The exhaustion finally settled in now that the chaos in his mind had quieted down. His body still hurt, but the soreness and ache slowly faded as he relaxed. His thoughts, once full of questions, began to clear.
"…I… hope so…" he whispered softly.
His breathing evened out, blending with the faint creaks of the house, the soft movement of the curtains, Luz's gentle breathing, and King's mumbling."Be afraid… heh… snoooort… I am… snoort… your ruler…"Yeah… that not helping answered the boy question.
Meanwhile outside the house through the colorful glasses window there something has been watching him, small long creatures with four wings silhouette, tilting it head watching him.
"Chunn...chunimimi.."
The sound that came from the creature then disappeared...

LUZ' POV
"Oi, how long are you gonna keep sleeping? Wake up, Noceda!" a male voice could be heard trying to wake me up, but my eyes were still heavy, same with my whole body—it was too comfy.
"hHmm~ five more minutes!" I said sleepily as I hugged the only blanket.
"Oh, you want five more minutes, huh? Too bad you can't—¡Despierta ya! ¡Oye, despierta! ¡No dejes que te dé una patá!" the boy said in an annoyed tone, but of course, I didn't budge. I felt way toooooooo comfy, still a bit drowsy too, and i also wanting to continue the awesome adventure dream I had earlier—that was a good dream… also kinda horrifying and heart-racing. In it, I went on a magical adventure with my close best friend, we...go step in magical door chasing thief small owl—got transfer to another world like those Isekai fantasy genre anime, manga, and novel that i have been read! and everything of that in Cherry in top all of it is amazing i mean it! that dream was amazing. I saw so many new things I always knew existed like Griffin Dove that throw out Giant ants! And others—especially ....magic. A world I always dreamed of being in… instead of my own ordinary life—
"I said wake up, Noceda!" a mildly annoyed and angry male teen voice pierced my ears. It wasn't loud or sharp like nails on a chalkboard—no, his voice wasn't like that. But it still hit in a way that made me jolt awake.
"Huwaak!!!" I let out a small scream as both my cheeks got pinched.
"Gumising ka na ngayon! (Wake up now!) I'm not playing around, Luzy!" he said, still pinching me.
As I slowly opened my sleepy, drowsy eyes, I saw his face—a boy I'd known my whole life. Brown tan skin, smooth black hair, and those crystal-like red eyes that looked so unnatural… yet completely real. "Ow—ow—okay, okay, that hurts! I'm up, I'm up!" I said in defeat as I sat up from the mattress.
The boy sighed and rolled his eyes, finally letting go of my cheeks. As his fingers left, I rubbed them gently, still feeling sore. My eyes were still heavy, barely able to open all the way.
"Geez… could you be a bit gentler waking me up? For your childhood friend here… Raffy."
Raffy pulled his hand back, letting out a tired sigh as he watched Luz rub her cheeks like a grumpy cat.
"Gently?" he said, raising a brow. "I've been trying gently for the past—what—ten minutes? You sleep like you got knocked out by a truck-kun…" he said in his usual way, that i'd to familiar with—a familiar tone with a hint of sarcasm..for some reason. "…mmgh… felt nice though… I also had an awesome dream…" I mumbled, stretching a little… before flopping back down onto the mattress. "Well, I'm gonna go back to sleep again, Raffy. Please wake me up when it's time for school."
Raffy, seeing my usual behavior, had one of his eyes twitch.
"—Oi, don't you dare go back to sleep!" Raffy said quickly, grabbing my shoulder and giving me a light—well, not so light—shake. "I ain't letting you sleep that peacefully that easy, Noceda!!"
"Wa—warararara—Raffy pleeease…" I dragged my voice as he kept shaking my shoulder. "I was literally in the best dream ever, I just want to continue it. Don't bring me back to reality so soon… there was magic, and creatures, and—"
He cut me off mid-sentence with a blunt reveal."Oh yeah? Guess what, genius? That wasn't a dream!" he said. That made me slightly open my eyes—
Then I paused.
I looked around the room… slowly turning my head from right to left, squinting my eyes as I took everything in. A room with a wooden ceiling… a chest, a bookshelf, a flower pot on a table, all dusty, old furniture. Even Raffy's big backpack lay there on the wooden floor. As I kept looking, I noticed the stained glass window.
My eyes slowly widened.
I turned my head back toward Raffy.
"O… oh."
Raffy stared back at me, completely deadpan. "…yeah. 'Oh.' Took you long enough."
I sat still on the mattress as my brain started up again, finally catching up as everything from yesterday slammed back into place all at once."Wai… wait. That… wasn't a dream." Raffy flinched slightly at my sudden volume, wincing like his whole body just complained.
"Yeah, yeah—keep it down," he muttered, rubbing his temple. "Some of us woke up an hour ago and already suffered enough," he added as he tried to stand up from the mattress.
But I didn't even hear him. I immediately moved, scooping him up into the tightest hug I could give, squeezing him hard as I kept repeating in a high-pitched voice, "Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh!"
I completely ignored Raffy's flinch as his face twisted into a pained expression. "This is amazing! Raffy, do you realize what this means?! Magic is REAL! We're actually here! This is like—like—" I said before he cut me off again.
"Gasp!!—a terrible life decision?" he cut in, looking like he was in pain.
"No… it means it's the BEST thing ever!"
"Ah, greaaat—then do me a favor AND STOP HUGGING ME!! You're hurting me right now."
As he said that, I finally noticed the cotton bandage on his cheek—and more bandages showing on his neck under his collar.
"RAFFY, WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU!!?" I said, my mood instantly switching from excitement to worry as I saw how covered in bandages he was.
Then it hit me.
You're hurting me right now!"
As he said that, I finally noticed the cotton bandage on his cheek and the ones around his neck behind his collar.
"RAFFY, WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU!?" I said, my mood instantly switching from excitement to worry as I saw him covered in bandages from neck down.
Then it hit me.
"Oh shoot! Oh my gosh… I'm so sorry! I'm so sorry! I forgot you were badly injured from yesterday!" I said quickly, letting go of him.
…Now I understood the hint of sarcasm from earlier. He really did look like he was about to die back in the Conformatorium—if I remembered right, he said he injured while fought Something when we got separated (he become the bait to lure the guards that spot us there) while trying to find king crown and free the witches and demons."im so sorry Raffy ~!"
Raffy staggered back a step the moment I let go, one hand clutching his side while the other rubbed his face like he was trying to erase the pain.
"…yeah… huff… huff..coughs… yeah… 'forgot'…" he muttered, breathing out slowly. "You almost sent me back to meet God again just now, thanks!…"
"I said I'm sorry!" I shot back, wincing a little. "I didn't mean to—"
"I know, I know…" he cut in, waving it off tiredly. "Just… don't try to squeeze an injured person to death again, yeah? I'm pretty sure I'm not gonna heal if you keep doing that," he said as he moved, looking a bit stiff.
I rubbed the back of my neck, guilt creeping in…
He sighed, then glanced at me for a second. His expression softened just a bit.
"…it's fine. You're just being you."he said as he stiffly tried to do a little stretch, moving his joints slowly, like he was trying not to lock up. Then he looked back at me.
"…which is exactly the problem…"
"Hey!"
Before I could argue more, another voice chimed in—someone else had just woken up from our conversation.
"Hmmm… what's with all the noise? How dare you two disturb my important sleep!" King said in his adorable little-tyrant tone, somehow talking without even moving his mouth. It looked weird… but also kinda awesome. This really was a magical fantasy world...and not a dream.
Both of us turned to him. He was still holding his bunny plush, sitting on the mattress with sleepy eyes.
"That weird-looking dog's awake now… good," Raffy said flatly as he walked to his massive backpack, digging around for something.
"Oh my gosh, you're awake…" I said, immediately grabbing him and hugging the pequeña y linda criatura mágica. "Awww, hola lindo~ did we wake you up? Awww, morning, cutie pie~" I said, kissing his fur cheek… or skull? You know what I mean.
"Weh! I'M not your cutie-pie!" King protested, pushing his paw against my face.
"Yes you are~ pequeña y adorable cosita," I said in a baby tone before putting him back down on the mattress.
King landed on all fours like a cat for a second, then slumped back down.
"Sigh… yeah… I know."
After that, I approached the multicolored window, wanting to feel this chaotic world's morning air. As I opened it slightly, a gentle, cool breeze brushed against my face, my hair swaying softly with it.
What I saw outside was a bizarre fantasy world—strange terrain and flora stretching around the place, along with weird animals and creatures I'd only ever seen in fantasy novel books illustration, manga, and anime… especially the ones from The Good Witch Azura. The view in front of me was amazing. The morning sun rose, slowly revealing more of this strange world—my heart started pounding from excitement. This was the kind of adventure I always wanted… and I wasn't even here alone.
"Hmmm…" I breathed in the morning air. It wasn't that different from the human world.
"Good morning, terrifying fantasy world!" I shouted out, greeting it.
Buuuut… I didn't expect to get a "good morning" back from a… giant, multi-eyed, horned monster. It was on the surface of the sea—I swear it wasn't there before.
"Good morning!" it said, waving at me with its tentacles.
I just stood there, dumbfounded… then the monster casually swam back into the water.
"Ugh… huh? Eh?!"
"What now? Are you bothering the neighbors already? Good job, Luzy…" Raffy said in his usual tone, already standing behind me.
"What!? Nooo of course not… there aren't any other houses nearby tho , see?,… just… there was a giant monster that greeted me good morning there," I said as I walked past him, grabbing my purple-and-white hoodie from my bag, along with my Socks and black stockings.
As I finished putting on my clothes, I started thinking I'd probably be wearing the same outfit for a while until I could get new ones. Now I kinda wished I'd brought more.
"Hey, here—catch!"
I heard Raffy from behind as he tossed something at me. I turned and caught it—it was a big candy bar? No… more like a protein bar. I smiled a little, though I was also confused why he suddenly gave me this. Before I could ask, he already started talking.
"Don't get any ideas—I just brought a lot of food that was originally for the camp, 'cause let's be honest, camp meals suck from what people say. But we're not even at the camp we were supposed to go to now—" he paused, crossing his arms before glancing back at his backpack. "We're in this demon realm, so we don't even know what kind of food here is safe for humans to eat or not… just… in case. So eat that before you end up getting food poisoning here," he said in his usual flat tone as he grabbed another protein bar for himself.
Honestly… I found this side of him really adorable since we both little—when he showed care like that...you couldn't help find that cute let alone from your own childhood friend."...Aawwww Raffy,"
He froze mid-bite.
"…don't," he said immediately, not even looking at me—but it was too late. I was already smiling like an idiot. I knew him too well. He didn't show much expression most of the time and was always sarcastic, but he was actually sweet—the kind of person who cared a lot, just hiding it behind that flat tone. And honestly… that made it even more adorable.
"That's actually really sweet of you!" I said, holding the bar with both hands like it was some kind of treasure. "You were thinking ahead this whole time, huh? Even if it was for camp that we didn't even go to… you still prepared for everything and shared some for me~ That's really adorable, you know that?"
Raffy slowly turned his head toward me, chewing.
"Stop that… now I regret giving you that."He frowned slightly, a small twitch in his left eye—he looked genuinely annoyed. But I didn't care, because it was true.
"Hehehe~ nope, no take-backs!" I said, unwrapping it anyway and taking a bite.
"Hmmm, this is good," I said while chewing the protein bar. But the sound of the wrapper must've caught someone's attention.
"Weh? What's that sound??" King said, looking up at us—and immediately spotting the food.
"What is that block thing you're eating? Is that BREAKFAST?!" he shouted, jumping up. "Why are you two eating it and not giving me any as a sacrificial—food offering?! I demand food for the King of Demons!"
"Awww, I want to give you some, sweet cutie pie, but—"
"It has chocolate inside," Raffy cut in flatly as he munched on his own. "You'd probably get poisoned. You look like a damn rabid dog after all....we ain't take chances to...accidently kill you by it."
"HEY!"barked king.
"Ra-raffy! Don't called him that king's not...a rabid dog...he's magic dog! Duh!"i said to back
"yeah! I'm a magic do—Weh! Who are you calling a dog?!" King snapped at luz."You, obviously.…you look like a chihuahua in a Halloween costume,..." Raffy replied without missing a beat, taking another bite.
King froze mid-talk.
"…a… what…? Chi… chiuj? Chihuahua? What's that?" the little canine tilted his head—skull and all—looking genuinely confused.
"…, bruh, you really don't know what that is, do you?" Raffy said, finishing his protein bar. He clapped his hands together like he was brushing off imaginary dust, not even looking at him. "Well, short mutt—Chihuahua is small… loud… lots of attitude… just like you. And you kinda look like one too, like chihauhua that Wearing oversize Halloween custome—with that weird skull mask on your head. Pretty accurate, honestly."
He finally glanced at King.
"…why don't you take it off?"
"HEY! This is not a mask!!" he shouted, waving his tiny arm before grabbing his skull head. "This is my REAL FACE!"
"Oh… you mean that's really your face? And not a mask you've been wearing since yesterday? …well… that makes it worse. Oof…" Raffy said calmly.
I sighed as I finished my protein bar. "Hey now, let's stop this, you two—especially you, Raffy. We shouldn't be rude to a king—well… you shouldn't be rude to a king. I mean, tone down your usual behavior, would you?" I said, looking at him.
"What? I just said—ouch—HEY, THAT HURT! I'M INJURED HERE REMEMBER?!" he snapped as I lightly punched his arm—gently, I swear.
"Sorry, but like I was saying, don't try to pick a fight with poor King here. Especially not first thing in the morning—and this is our first day learning magic together in this world!"
"We must not show bad behavior! Especially in this house and to the people here—like King—because we're gonna live here now with him for now on then and learn magic with our mentor, remember!!" I said with a bright smile, my eyes practically sparkling. "This is gonna be so exciting! We're gonna be the first humans to learn magic—I mean, learn magic! Don't you find that exciting too?! Come on!"
"Heh… you're the one talking about bad behavior…" Raffy muttered. "And for the second time—you're the only one here who wants to learn magic. I never said I wanted to. I'm staying here just because of you… to keep an eye on you," he said flatly.
"But like I said last night—it's too late, mister! We're in a fantasy, terrifying world full of magic! Of course we're gonna learn it—that means both me and you!" I said, my lips curling into a cat-like, pleading smile.
"…I hate you when you make that face," he said, trying to shield himself from it—my most powerful weapon.
"Hehehe…"
He sighed and looked at me. "But I still don't want to learn magic… it's gonna be a troublesome pain in the ass, studying something that's still foreign to us...humans don't you think? … I mean, this is real magic we're talking about… it's Surely not gonna be easy, unlike from those anime, manga, novel books you been consume as always" he said.
"First of all, language, Raffy… geez, you keep swearing a lot… also what you mean just me? You also watch and read those (forcefully by me),but come on think about it this really a chance Raffy! A chances we could learn magic!. So let gave it try yoy and me learning it! Even if it hard let's do it slowly…" I said with a smile.
"Sigh… fiiiiinnnneeee… I'm… also… gonna… learn some magic here… there, happy? Why do you always tempt me like a devil? (and why the hell do I let her keep doing that????) My mom is right, I need to be careful around girls these days… even my own childhood friend."
Hearing that made me a bit annoyed. I pouted and pinched his side—hard.
Of course, it hurt like three times worse now that he was injured. Yes, this time I did it on purpose.
"OW—! AY—WHAT THE HELL, LUZ—!" Raffy hissed, immediately bending a bit as his whole body tensed up, one hand clutching his side like he'd just been throw by small steel ball.
(Author:yohoho~)
I just huffed, crossing my arms. "That's for what you said...about girls specislly me!"
"…what? I said I need to be careful! I'm just being honest about what's in my head like always! Should i need to get that???" he shot back, still wincing.
"Well, it serves you right," I muttered, turning away with a little pout. "Hmph!"
There was a brief pause before King spoke up.
"Hey… sooo… could I, the King of Demons, have one of those bar-looking foods now? I still wating." he asked, looking up at both of us, clearly still hoping to get some of the protein bar. I blinked, then looked down at King.
"Oh Awwww—right! Sorry, to ignoring you cute fur ball~" I said, putting a hand on my forehead dramatically. "But nooo, you still can't have this one. Raffy already said it might poison you, remember? So no...im sorry."
King groaned loudly, dragging his tiny paws down his face. "Ughhh… this is tyranny… I'm being starved in my own kingdom—(Eda's house)… I'll be dead by the time breakfast is ready…" he said before sulking back onto the mattress, face first.
"…..dramatic dog," Raffy said flatly.
I let out a small sigh, shaking my head as King face-planted into the mattress look like sad looking beaver that didn't get to chop tree freely—still looking adorable, though. "Well… I'm gonna go now," I said, taking a couple of steps.
"Where are you going now?" Raffy asked, raising one eyebrow.
I turned my head slightly and smiled at him. "Hmm? Going to the bathroom, of course. I need to freshen up—that's the first thing you should do after waking up, silly~ Clean my face and everything. You did the same, right? Since you woke up first, silly Rafheal~ After I'm done, let's go downstairs and get ready for our first magic lesson with Eda!"
"Ah right...that make sense."said Raffy as he focus switch to his big backpack again.
As I said that—im start walked to the door, opening it and stepping into the hallway toward the bathroom but then I stopped mid-step."Oh, and Raffy...!"
He looked over, squinting slightly. "…what now?"
"You were rude to King and already called him names earlier…" I pointed at him with a serious face. "Go apologize to him while I'm in the bathroom, you hear me, mister!"
King lifted his head slightly from the mattress and nodded. "YES Yes. Apologize to your King of Demons here for your insults!"
Raffy stared at both of us, his gaze shifting between me and King like five times before letting out a sigh.
"…"
"yeah...no…I'm not apologizing for being correct," he said flatly, deadpan.
"Raffy!" I snapped, narrowing my eyes.
"nope.." he said again, just as flat.
"You—" I tried to say something.
"Nu-uh."
I just stood there for a second, staring at him with my most serious face...yet his expression shown nothing just Unbothered as he stare back at me completely immune...i should just using puppies eyes.
I'm puffed my cheeks"fine! Hmph!…you are impossible," I muttered, throwing my hands up. "Fine! Stay rude! I'm not gonna talk to you for whole day! And I'm going to the bathroom!"
"Please that would be heaven like time for me."said Raffy.
I turned dramatically and marched out the door like I was in a telenovela, shutting it behind me with a soft thunk...as i didn't want to wake up anyone if i close the door harder...now my priority is go to bathroom, but when i mid step in corridor i just realize something—
.....
.....
i..i don't KNOW where the bathroom is!!
————————————————
————————————————
In same time after Luz marched out the door—Raffy could only let out a long, tired sigh. The kind that came from years of experience dealing with her chaos. "…Sigh…, she sound more happier.." he muttered under his breath."And to loud...i feel my ears bleeding...egh."he commented.
He crouched down near his oversized backpack, unzipping it halfway and digging through the contents. Wrappers, spare clothes, a small medical kit—he pushed things aside, looking for something specific, though even he didn't seem fully sure what. But his mind wasn't really on the massive survival bag that his hands on.
It drifted back to what Luz said.
Learning magic.
Raffy paused for a second, his hand still inside the bag.
"…magic, huh…" he muttered under his breath, his fingers pausing for a second as Luz's words echoed in his head. But his thoughts shifted when he heard the door open slightly—Luz's head peeked in through the doorway, looking at him.
"…Raffy," she said, her tone a bit quieter.
"What now? I said I'm not gonna apologize to the mutt here," Raffy replied, glancing at her briefly, then at King—who narrowed his eyes at him—before looking back at his backpack."you one insolant Frak of scary human."king said to Raffy.
"Well, first of all, you still owe King an apology, and you should do that sooner or later… and second, I just want to ask you…" she paused.
"…where's the bathroom?" she finished shyly.
Silence.
Raffy finally looked at her, one eyebrow raised so high it almost looked painful. "Bruh… you serious?"
"I thought you'd already know. You went all out with that whole morning routine speech earlier… also said you didn't want to talk to me for the rest of the day because of my rudeness, then walked out to go to the bathroom and… now you're back asking me where it is? Did you find the bathroom last night?" he said.
"W-well! Yeah, I know what I just said! Just—just tell me where it is! This house is big! And I didn't go to the bathroom last night! So I don't know where it is—just tell me!" she said, embarrassed.
"…fair," he admitted, then shrugged. "But I dunno."
"What do you mean… you don't know?? You woke up first! I thought you already went to the bathroom!?"
"Yeah. Like… ten minutes before you," he said. "I just cleaned up with a small towel and some water from my supply, wiped myself, changed my bandages, took painkillers… then had the pleasure of waking you up."
"…oh," she blinked. "…so you didn't explore?" she asked again.
"Nah. I don't want to risk stumbling into something weird in this house," he said flatly.
"Also that mea—" Luz was about to ask something else before he cut her off.
"Before you ask again—I'm holding my pee right now, since I don't know where the bathroom is. And with my condition, it hurts like hell to walk before I take painkillers," he said bluntly.
"…okay, fair enough…" she muttered, scratching the back of her neck.
Then her gaze turn to king who been litsen to both of them the little cainine eyes was wide looking adorablely if she gonna ask him next"ummm…King? Do you know where the bathroom"
King beam up as he immediately sat up straighter, puffing his chest. "Finally! Recognition from a peasant!"he said dramaticly."i thought you wouldn't never ask i-i mean...AHEM...good human! I shall tell you where its is."the little demon said the He pointed dramatically toward the derection. "Down the corridor—fourth door on the left."
"Ooooh, thank you, your majestie!" luz said, bowing slightly to play around king action."as you should—you good human, unlike this red eyes one."he said as proudly while point out at Raffy before added something very casually. "And be careful. There's a lot of Eda's stuff lying around. Some of it may or may not be cursed."
Luz froze slighly then look at king with small sweat on her cheek"may or may not??"
"…okay, most of it is cursed magic junk.."he said casually."just becarefull with your step."he said,"heh...good luck...with that"said Raffy Luz only could sigh as she gave a thumbs up, forcing a smile. "Great! Totally safe! Love that for me!" she then walk away.
....
.....
But five second later she back again from the door frame."Wait—left or your left?" she asked, peeking in again from the door frame, both Raffy and king stare at him before king talk again."your left..."
"Oh ok...got it"she gone again
....
But four minutes later, she came back with a sheepish grin, scratching her cheek awkwardly.
"Four doors, right???" she asked, just to make sure.
"Yes!" King answered.
"Okay, okay—just checking," she said before leaving again.
King looked at Raffy, then asked, "What's wrong with her? Is she broken or always like this?"
"If you mean that… yeah, she's kinda like that," Raffy replied flatly. "Like, she needs to double-check—sometimes three or four times—when asking for directions, just to make sure she doesn't mess it up… she's probably just making sure she's going the right way."
King slowly turned his gaze back to the doorway, still staring at it even after Luz disappeared, his little skull head tilting slightly.
"Oh, really?… she came back twice just to ask for directions," King said slowly.
"Three times," Raffy corrected, leaning down to zip his backpack before standing up beside the little demon.
"Weh?" King blinked, confused.
"Give it a minute, she'll come back," Raffy said casually.
"…you serious?"
"Yeah… here… five… four… three… two… and—"
"HUWAAAAAAAAAA!!"
A sudden scream echoed through the house.
Both of them paused. Raffy's eyes widened slightly in alert before King spoke.
"Ah… seems she found the bathroom."
Raffy let out a breath, then looked down at him. "Now I've got a question for you, mudball… why is she screaming? Is there something in there?"
"Meh? …probably because of the owls. Eda's pets are in there…" King said innocently—then froze a second later.
"…oh. I didn't mention that."
Raffy just stared at him for a moment… then sighed.
"…great."
"That mean she wouldn't come back right?"king ask the boy who have him shrug.
....
Then not tolong in 3 minute a soumd—Footsteps could be heard by both of them followed by her she lend slighly to the door frame as the both of them can see her eyes."ummm..."Luz let alone Hemming as she walk inside.
"Oh she back?"said king followed by Raffy commented his childhood friend."you back so soon again, are you already find the bathroom...we Heard your scream earlier..."with his usual tone.
"Well… I did find the bathroom… just got a bit jumpscared by a couple of owls when I opened it… and… I fell backwards," she said sheepishly, fiddling with her fingers. The last part came out in a whisper. "Don't laugh, Raffy…" she added, puffing her cheeks slightly as she glared at him.
"Heh… anyway, why are you back so soon? Already finished or what? Then it's my turn to use the bathroom," Raffy said.
"Eh! Hey! Hold your horses, mister—I'm not finished. I just came back to grab my book," she said, walking over to her bag and pulling out' The Good Witch Azura' as she Kneel down to her bag near her picture frame of her and here mom while pulled out The Good Witch Azura, hugging it to her chest like it was an essential thing to her."ok I'm ready."said the girl as she standing up and meet the look both king and Raffy.
"What?" Luz said, already noticing the look on Raffy's face. "You never know how long it's gonna take. Gotta stay entertained."
"…you're going to the bathroom," he said flatly.
"Yes."
"…and you're bringing a book."
"Yes."
"…to read."
"YES."
He slowly dragged a hand down his face. "…unbelievable."
"…it's a bathroom, Luz. Not a waiting room," he replied flatly.
"hey! You never know how long it's gonna take! you know a girl needs a lot of time in the bathroom to get ready for the day"she said confidently, pointing at him like I'd just won an argument.
King, meanwhile, leaned forward slightly, eyes wide with curiosity. "Wait… humans do that? You read… while doing your business??"
"Well...just some? Cuz...it get bored without something to entertain.."answer Luz
King who had been watching this entire exchange, slowly turned his head toward Raffy. "…I don't understand humans."
"Me neither," Raffy muttered.
King blink and look at the boy."Weh? But you are human too are you not?"he ask and reply by the boy."i am human...normal one, she not."Raffy said flatly make king blink in confused.
"HEY!"said Luz as she stuck out her tongue out at him slighly offended to her childhood friend but only little while —before turning on her heel, holding her book up like a trophy. "Anyway! I'm going now—for real this time! No interruptions! No distractions...i hope no either jumpscared either.."
"Please don't narrate your bathroom trip," Raffy deadpanned.
"I make no promises!" she shot back dramatically.
And with that, Luz marched out of the room once more. But when she arrived in the bathroom she was greeted by a long-necked creature ready to jumpscared her....
———
Forty minutes later, the chaos from earlier had settled into something a little more organized—well, as organized as that place could get. Both kids had finished getting cleaned up, after Luz had finally located the bathroom after what felt like a mini hygiene quest, and now the two of them were rushing down the halls like they were already late for something important.
"Slow down, Luzy—ey, EY—THE STAIRS?!" Raffy yelped, his voice cracking a little as he got dragged along by pure momentum. "Are you outta your mind?! You tryna kill me now?!" His sneakers barely kept up as Luz bolted down the steps two at a time, gripping his wrist like she had somewhere very important to be—which, apparently, she did.
"Come on, come on! Raffy, we gotta be there on time! Before eda woke up!" Luz shot back, not slowing even a little. She adjusted the brim of the oversized witch hat sitting on her head, tilting it up so she could actually see where she was going. The thing wobbled dangerously with every step, but somehow stayed on. And yeah that hats that news, Actually—her whole witch outfit when she walk back from bathroom.
Well Raffy didn't know the whole story actually, but he very sure somewhere along the way, Luz had managed to grab full-on witch attire. Black dress, red rope for waist , pointy hat, even a little name tag pinned proudly to her chest she write it down herselve. And Raffy? He was stuck wearing a matching set she'd shoved into his arms earlier without explanation.
By the time they reached the first floor, Raffy finally pulled back hard enough to stop himself, bending over slightly with his hands on his knees as he tried to catch his breath."Geeeez—huff—huff… did...you—did you already fell down twice today??," he said between breaths, raising a finger like he was presenting evidence. "First with those little owls in the bathroom—and second, didn't you get jumpscared by that spaghetti demon?? How are you STILL this energetic?!"
Luz straightened up immediately, offended—but in a very Luz way."Okay, FIRST of all i only fall down once and SECOND of all—he is NOT a spaghetti demon, oh my gosh—his name is Hooty, remember?!" she said, holding up a finger like that was the most important correction in the world."…and ummm..third..," she added, her confidence dropping just a tiny bit, "it was just… a friendly jumpscare, okay?!"
"…I hope Hooty doesn't hold a grudge…" she muttered, pressing two fingers together like she was praying for forgiveness.
Raffy, now finally breathing like a normal human again, straightened up and dusted off his shirt."Welp," he said casually, shrugging, "guess I'm not the only one making enemies with that white ash hag's pets."
"…Raffy," Luz shot him a look instantly.
"What? Just saying," he replied, hands up in mock defense. Then his eyes flicked down at their outfits again, clearly still bothered by something.
Luz blinked.
Then her face lit up like a lightbulb just exploded in her brain.
"Oh! Right! Okay, so—" she leaned in slightly, lowering her voice like she was about to reveal top-secret information. "There was this room i found when i looking around..like looking for witch clothing and stuff and i found it, a storage room! And inside was cooler. And everything was just… there. Like—robes, hats, name tags—like they EXPECTED us or something!"
Raffy's expression didn't change as it look unimpress flat not even a little changer"…You're telling me," he said slowly, "you found a random room full of perfectly sized outfits… and your first thought was 'yeah this is fine, let's wear them'?"
"…Yes?" Luz said, like that was the most obvious answer in the world. He look at stare at her before rubbing his face. "Of course you did."
Luz only smiled at him like there was absolutely nothing wrong with any of this—like running through a creepy magical house in matching witch outfits they found in some random room was just a normal thing to do in someone else house. "Oh come on, Raffy, it looks great on us," she said, tilting her head a little as she looked him over. There was even a faint blush on her cheeks, like she genuinely meant it. "And you look more adorable wearing that too!"
Raffy froze for half a second.
"…Ummm—no. No it doesn't," he shot back immediately, his face scrunching up as he tugged at the sleeve again like it personally offended him. "And don't look at me like that." He shifted his shoulders, clearly uncomfortable, rolling one arm like he was trying to shake the outfit off without actually taking it off yet. "We're wearing other clothes under this, you know? It's making it hot—like, really hot—and uncomfortable. Why are YOU fine??"
Luz blinked, glancing down at herself like she'd just now been asked to check. She moved her arms a little, twisted side to side, then looked back up at him with a small shrug."…I dunno," she said honestly. "It just feels… fine?"
Raffy stared at her again, this time like he was seriously reconsidering every life choice that led him here."Well that answer didn't help."said the boy. Then, without another word, he grabbed the edge of the robe."I'm taking this off."
"WAIT—no, no, no—Raffy!" Luz hands lunged forward immediately, grabbing his hands before he could pull the robe over his head. "Don't!""Why not?!" he snapped back, already halfway out of it before she stopped him. "I'm sweating like crazy in this thing! They're gonna make my bandage soggy!"
"Because what if it's important?!" Luz shot back just as fast, grabbing his wrists like she was stopping him from doing something irreversible. "Like—what if Eda already prepared this for us in that room?! You know—like those magic school academy novels? The students always have uniforms, right?!"
Raffy slowly turned his head to look at her, completely unimpressed. "…You just gave me more reason to take this off," he said flatly.
He tried again, tugging at the robe—but Luz held on tighter.
"HEY! Hey! Don't take it off, you dummy!!" she insisted, planting her feet like she was ready to wrestle him if she had to.
"Aaagh—hands off, Luz!" Raffy snapped, trying to pry her grip away as he struggled to peel off the black witch robe he was stuck in.
"Nope! We're witch apprentices now! This is our uniform! We should wear it just like in those books—!"
They both froze mid-struggle.
The sound of a toilet flushing echoed faintly from upstairs.
Just like that, their attention snapped toward the second floor.
Luz's eyes went wide the second she noticed it. "Gasp! She's awake! She's awake!" she whisper-shouted, her voice caught somewhere between panic and pure excitement. She instantly dropped Raffy's hands like they were on fire and spun toward him, grabbing at his robe instead. "Come on—stand straight! Stand straight!"
"What—why?! Hey—hands off my clothes!! I wanna take this shitty robe off!" Raffy protested, but he barely had time to react before she started fussing over him like a mom getting a kid ready for picture day. She brushed imaginary dust off his shoulders, tugged the fabric into place, straightened the collar, and even tried to fix how it sat around his neck.
"Sheeeesh, just stand still! There!" Luz said quickly, giving one final pat before stepping back. Then she immediately fixed her own hat, pressing it down like it might fly away if she didn't. She bounced lightly on her feet, practically vibrating with energy, hands clasped together as she tried—and failed—to contain herself. "Oh my gosh… oh my gosh…"
Upstairs, a shadow stretched across the doorway as a figure moved through the hallway, footsteps echoing faintly with each step. Luz lit up instantly, practically glowing as she stood there waiting for their mentor to appear. In her head, she was already picturing it—Eda descending the stairs in full witch glory. Wild hair flowing like in slow motion, staff in hand, some kind of magical aura swirling around her, accessories clinking with every step. The kind of entrance that just screamed legendary mentor. Luz was basically vibrating where she stood, barely holding in her excitement.
Raffy, on the other hand, just stood there with his arms stiff at his sides, still clearly annoyed about the robe he was forced into. His face had that same flat, tired look like he'd already checked out of the whole moment. Whatever grand entrance Luz was imagining? Yeah… he couldn't care less.
Then—Eda finally appeared.
"Good morning, Ed—ah…" Luz started, ready to greet her with full energy… but the rest of her words just died right there. Her expression froze mid-smile, excitement draining out of her face in real time as she stared, completely dumbfounded.
Because… yeah. That whole grand entrance she imagined? Gone. Reduced to ashes.
Instead of some powerful, legendary witch descending the stairs like a boss battle intro, what they got was… Eda. Just… Eda. Wearing a loose, slightly pink wrinkled shirt and a long skirt that covered her legs, her hair an absolute mess with gray strands sticking out everywhere like she lost a fight with a pillow. And on her feet? Bunny slippers.
She yawned right in the middle of stepping down, scratching her side like she'd literally just rolled out of bed five seconds ago. Her golden eyes were barely open, half-lidded, like she was still deciding whether she was actually awake or not. No aura, n dramatic wind nor cool sound effects either. Just slow, lazy steps down the stairs like she didn't have a single urgent thought in her mind Luz just stood there, blinking try to rocessing this
"YAAAAAAAWN!! HMMM… hmmm… yam yam… huh…" Eda dragged out a long, messy yawn as she made it halfway down the stairs, blinking lazily like her brain hadn't fully loaded yet. Then her gaze landed on the two kids standing there all stiff at the bottom.
"…Hmm?" she mumbled, squinting a little harder like she was trying to focus through pure effort alone.
"…Who're these kids?"
And just like that—silence.
Luz's entire expression went completely blank. "…eh?" she let out, like her brain had just short-circuited on the spot. You could practically hear the gears in her head grinding to a halt. After everything—everything—they went through yesterday… this was the reaction?
Raffy, standing right next to her, took one look at the situation and just sighed, seeing her face expression "…good grief…"
