Chapter 348 – Toneri's Trail
As news of Toneri's disappearance spread, Yusuke could only bring Kaguya with him to Madara's hideout.
Madara didn't waste any words and immediately summoned the Gedō Mazō from within his body. Since he still had one Ten-Tails inside him, he hadn't suffered major damage, but his body was now extremely weak.
After Yusuke used a Healing Fruit to restore Madara, he brought Kaguya and left.
At first, Madara wanted to help Yusuke, but Yusuke refused. He only left behind a single sentence—"You're too weak"—before disappearing. At that moment, Madara genuinely wanted to punch him.
Yusuke brought Kaguya to the moon. Right now, Toneri's parents looked extremely anxious. When they saw Yusuke arrive, they told him everything that had happened. Yusuke was furious and didn't give either of them a friendly expression the entire time.
After all, Toneri was Yusuke's disciple. In Toneri's heart, Yusuke's position was even higher than his own parents.
Because Yusuke had never been stiff like them, he treated Toneri like a child. As a result, Toneri's dependence on Yusuke was actually even greater than on his parents.
And Yusuke had only one disciple—someone he had watched grow up since childhood. How could he not be anxious?
Besides, recently he had also sensed something—that the Rinne Tensei technique should be used as little as possible.
"Why didn't you tell me earlier? If you already suspected it was likely someone from the main Ōtsutsuki clan, why did you let him go?" Yusuke stared coldly at Toneri's father.
"Actually, this isn't entirely his fault. Toneri is just too stubborn," Toneri's mother said.
"Hmph. I don't care about the process. I only look at the result," Yusuke said, then stopped speaking. He turned to look at Kaguya.
"Start now."
"Understood," Kaguya replied briefly.
She immediately used the Gedō Mazō and fused it with herself, becoming the Ten-Tails' Jinchūriki. A pair of horns appeared, and her clothing transformed. However, Kaguya's face remained the same as before.
"Is this…" As descendants of Hamura, their family had preserved portraits of Kaguya for generations. Hamura himself was known as a dutiful figure, because not everyone could endure loneliness just to accompany their mother.
"My name is Kaguya-hime," Kaguya said without elaborating.
"Ancestor?" At this moment, Toneri's parents truly recognized Kaguya.
Kaguya nodded. She didn't deny it. After all, they were descendants of her son, so it was only natural for them to call her their ancestor. Kaguya then turned to Yusuke.
"Why are you looking at me? Have you found it yet?" Yusuke asked impatiently.
"Yes," Kaguya answered softly, almost like a gentle young wife.
Yusuke then placed his hand on Kaguya's shoulder. Through Kaguya's chakra connection, he immediately sensed Toneri's trace.
"Good," Yusuke said briefly. Without another word, he brought Kaguya and disappeared right in front of Toneri's parents.
"Toneri found a good teacher," Ōtsutsuki Yoshino said.
"Yes. I just hope he can return safely. That child is too stubborn," Toneri's mother, Ōtsutsuki Miyako, said.
"This is my fault. I placed too much pressure and expectation on him since he was young," Ōtsutsuki Yoshino said.
"Don't blame yourself. Even though that child never said it out loud, deep down he still wanted your recognition," Ōtsutsuki Miyako said gently.
"Ah… perhaps I truly am a failed father," Ōtsutsuki Yoshino said sadly.
"Enough. No matter what happens, when Toneri and his teacher return, you can talk to him properly," Ōtsutsuki Miyako said softly.
Meanwhile, Toneri was currently bound by an invisible force and couldn't move at all.
"Speak. Where is the location of that planet called Earth?" Urashiki said as he stared at Toneri.
"I won't tell you," Toneri said calmly.
"Really? But this is quite surprising. The Tenseigan… I never expected descendants of Earth's natives could awaken such an eye. Truly beyond expectation," Urashiki said. He desperately wanted the Tenseigan, because this eye held a secret far more important than anyone realized.
Toneri didn't respond to Urashiki. He simply closed his eyes, his expression cold, and said nothing more.
Seeing that, the power in Urashiki's eyes surged, freezing the space around Toneri.
"What a pity. Eyes and chakra this good—if refined into a pill, they could probably increase my power several times over. But this eye is rather troublesome," Urashiki muttered.
Toneri couldn't hear anything he said. Urashiki also wanted to take Toneri's eyes, but he knew that once removed, they would no longer be the Tenseigan—just an ordinary pair of Byakugan.
"Forget it. I'll let Momoshiki handle this. That traitor Kaguya will definitely interest him," Urashiki said, a meaningful smile forming at the corner of his lips.
Then his eyes transformed into six-tomoe Rinnegan. A spatial rift appeared above him, and he disappeared from that place.
When Urashiki appeared again, an odd combination came into view. Why odd? Because it looked like a normal-sized pale-skinned humanoid sitting on the shoulder of a small yet massive creature with a strange form.
"What are you doing here, Urashiki?" said the figure sitting on the creature's shoulder.
"Senior, I've found traces of the traitor Kaguya," Urashiki said respectfully, then told them about capturing Toneri.
"Good. You've done well. Kaguya… I'll personally deal with that traitor," Momoshiki said. After learning that Urashiki had captured Toneri, he immediately activated the power of his eyes and vanished from the spot.
After Momoshiki left, Urashiki's gaze turned cold. A flash of disdain crossed his eyes before he followed.
After half a day of tracking, Yusuke finally found traces of Urashiki's chakra and the others.
"Well? Did you find them?" Kaguya asked when she saw Yusuke open his eyes.
Yusuke nodded.
"What's wrong?" Kaguya asked when she noticed the crease forming on Yusuke's brow.
"I didn't find Toneri's chakra," Yusuke said.
"Could it be—"
"Impossible," Yusuke said calmly, analyzing the situation.
"Let's just go and see," Kaguya said.
"Oh? You're not afraid?" Yusuke looked at Kaguya curiously.
"Because you're here," Kaguya said.
Yusuke himself didn't know why Kaguya said something like that. In his haste, he reflexively grabbed her hand and immediately teleported toward the location he sensed, not noticing that Kaguya's face had turned red and looked slightly unnatural.
"Insignificant insect. If you won't talk, don't blame me," Momoshiki said at this moment as he opened his palm, revealing a red Rinnegan there.
He intended to use the Rinnegan to obtain information about Earth…
But just as he was about to do so, Urashiki suddenly called out,
"Senior, he is an important pawn—"
