Over the past month, Hydra had rebuilt its forces, leveraging S.H.I.E.L.D. to regain the power it had amassed over seventy or eighty years. Now, it had been dismantled overnight. This crackdown was even more thorough than the one at the end of World War II when the Red Skull was defeated.
Back then, no one knew Hydra could be so persistent—that it could be wiped out for seventy years only to rise from the dead, even stronger than before.
With this lesson learned, the major factions' wariness of Hydra had reached its peak.
Against this backdrop, it would no longer be easy for Hydra to rebuild itself.

Nick Fury had just returned to his office. He rubbed his temples, having just endured a grueling inquiry from the Supreme Council.
The Council representatives were relentless, refusing to let the Hydra issue go. Their fury reflected the anger of the high-level figures they represented. After all, Hydra had been born from within S.H.I.E.L.D. itself. It was no wonder the Supreme Council, S.H.I.E.L.D.'s governing body, was so incensed—this was a public slap in the face.
And this was just one of the many inquiries he had to face. There were countless others from various U.S. bodies, such as the Defense Committee and similar organizations. Some days, he had to attend several of these hearings.
It was an endless cycle of explanations and reprimands. In the closed-door sessions, the insults were particularly vicious. Even for a seasoned veteran like Nick Fury, the ordeal was a massive headache.
But before he could even catch his breath, he sensed that the diary had updated again. He immediately sent out a message to the others. Those who possessed the diary either hurried to his office in person or logged in via their online devices, depending on their circumstances.
As the others entered, they all looked exhausted. This past month had been absolutely brutal, with them constantly juggling endless debriefings and operational missions.
"Nick, you've gotta give me some time off. I'm dead tired!" Hawkeye Barton exclaimed. "I just finished a mission!"
"Alright, things have settled down enough now. I'm granting you ten days of paid leave," Nick Fury replied.
Seeing the hopeful looks on everyone else's faces, Nick Fury quickly added, "Fine, fine! Everyone gets a share. You all get paid leave!"
The S.H.I.E.L.D. agents erupted in cheers. This last month had been a relentless grind; they could finally get some much-needed rest.
[The cleanup of Hydra this past month has been absolutely relentless. It's a shame, though—something must have gone wrong, because Hydra's three Helicarriers never even took flight. Word is those three ships could have wiped out a million people in an instant. Hydra's dream of ruling the world with them is looking a little unlikely now!]
This wave of losses was pretty severe, wasn't it? Next up should be the Age of Ultron, right? Tony Stark is probably about to invent Ultron soon. When that happens, Sokovia is in big trouble—if a whole city falls from the sky, the whole world will be doomed!
But Captain America is still so naive at this stage.
Low-EQ Captain America: "Does anyone want to go down before we make our move?"
High-EQ Captain America: "Hail Hydra!"
Heaven knows when the news first broke that Captain America was a Hydra mole, it trended like crazy!
Rumor has it that Captain America's mother was recruited by Hydra, and in fact, Captain America has always been a member of Hydra. Captain America was just a cover identity for Steve Rogers!
LMAO, when this news came out, everyone lost their minds!
At the time, a lot of Iron Man fans said, "Good thing Iron Man isn't Hydra." LMAO, who told you he isn't? Tony Stark's own dad was a double agent for both S.H.I.E.L.D. and Hydra!
For a moment, everyone who saw the diary fell silent, completely dumbfounded!
Uh, this...
Captain Hydra?
Iron Man Hydra?
This leak was nothing short of earth-shattering!
All previous complaints about Hydra were quickly ignored as everyone's attention focused on the point below. Even the events of the Age of Ultron were no longer of interest.
All eyes turned to Tony Stark and Captain America Rogers.
"Impossible! My father is Howard Stark!" Tony Stark immediately retorted. "Lin Feng is spreading rumors again."
"I don't think it's a rumor," Black Widow Natasha said. "Lin Feng has always said that in different universes, everyone's identities might be slightly different. For example, in some universes, Wanda and Pietro are the children of the so-called Magneto. And he also mentioned in his diary that in some universes, you are just your father's godson, adopted. Remember when he brought that up?"
Only then did Tony Stark suddenly recall that such a thing had indeed happened. At the time, Lin Feng had said he wasn't his father's biological child, which had made him furious. But he couldn't help but feel uneasy deep down. He had even secretly asked Jarvis to retrieve the DNA data his father had left at S.H.I.E.L.D. and compare it with his own. Only after discovering he was indeed his biological child did he breathe a sigh of relief.
Regardless of what was true in other parallel universes, at least in this one, he was definitely his father's biological son.
He would have let the whole thing slide, treating it as nothing more than a strange tale from another universe. But now, it had dropped a massive bombshell.
So, in some other parallel universe, he was just his father's adopted son? And his real father was a Hydra spy?
The very thought made his scalp tingle.
And while Tony Stark was only accused of having a double agent for a father, Captain America Rogers was being directly called a member of Hydra. The claim was that "Captain America" was merely a cover identity for Steve Rogers.
This was a grave accusation.
"I'm not!" Rogers shook his head. "I couldn't be. I have nothing to do with Hydra."
No one knew better than he did—he truly wasn't Hydra, nor could he ever be. He had spent his entire life fighting to destroy them.
The others thought it over. It seemed he was right. If Rogers were Hydra, why would he have personally stopped Red Skull's plan?
"Could it be an evil variant of Captain America from another universe?" Coulson immediately considered another possibility.
He was Captain America Rogers' number one fan, and he simply couldn't accept his idol's image being shattered. If Captain America Rogers were Hydra, then the idol he followed would be completely ruined—his reputation would be reduced to rubble. He couldn't bear that!
"Yes, that's very likely!" Agent Hill immediately agreed. "Looking at Lin Feng's attitude toward Captain America, it doesn't seem like he's dealing with a supervillain, does it? There's even praise in his words!"
Everyone recalled that this was true. Lin Feng might be a bit cautious, but he was also known for having a clear sense of love and hate. If he were dealing with a supervillain, he wouldn't have put on a good face.
Thinking about it this way, things actually made sense. Everything was clear—it was just normal to have a counterpart in a parallel universe. After all, Doctor Strange had so many evil clones, so it would be perfectly reasonable for Captain America Rogers to have one too.
"What the fuck! How is this possible?!" Spider-Man, Peter Parker, read the contents of the diary on the rooftop, finding it utterly unbelievable.
Captain America is Hydra?
Tony Stark's own father was Hydra too?
What kind of wild plot twist was this?
Peter had never heard of Hydra before. In fact, most Americans were woefully ignorant of history—especially ordinary kids. Forget history; even basic general knowledge was lacking. With a staggering eighty million illiterate or semi-literate people, trying to instill any common sense in them was an uphill battle.
But recently, as S.H.I.E.L.D. launched its campaign against Hydra, many long-buried secrets had been unearthed. This included Captain America Rogers' past missions, which had targeted not only the Third Reich but Hydra as well.
Governments worldwide had tacitly agreed to keep these clandestine organizations a secret from the public. As a result, Hydra's name wasn't well-known; only a few history buffs ever dug into its past.
But now, the truth had exploded into the public eye. With Captain America Rogers himself testifying, the story had gained immense credibility.
And yet, now he was being told that Captain America Rogers was actually a member of Hydra—and a second-generation one at that?
His mother had already been recruited by Hydra, and Rogers himself had been a member all along. His identity as Captain America was a total sham.
If this news ever went public, Peter could only imagine the devastating media storm it would unleash.
The internet would explode instantly.
"What?"
Even Stephen Strange, upon reading the diary's contents, was utterly stunned. To be fair, he wasn't exactly a die-hard Captain America fan, but as an average American, he'd grown up on stories about the Captain.
Now, he was being told it was all a lie—that he was actually Captain Hydra?
How was he supposed to process this?
If even a casual fan like him found his worldview shattered, the reaction from the Captain's die-hard followers would be a full-blown storm.
Spider-Gwen shared his shock.
"What is the boss doing? Has he gone mad? How could Captain America possibly be Hydra?" Gwen's wide, beautiful eyes were filled with disbelief. She simply couldn't wrap her head around it.
Her entire sense of reality—her worldview, her outlook on life, her values—was collapsing.
And that was just the beginning. The diary also implicated another super-rich superhero, Tony Stark. His own father had been a Hydra agent.
She was completely blown away.
She had just joined Lin's Technology this year, contributing to Lin Feng's wealth empire. Lin Feng seemed to take special care of her, offering her an incredibly generous compensation package.
