I release a sigh and look at the map in front of me. It is exhausting. The constant war raging around me and the endless responsibility of managing it are starting to wear me down. At least this time, I do not need to enter the battlefield; instead, I am a Tinker in the rear, observing it all while supporting the vanguard with technology.
At least I can relax for a moment after the initial scare of Daemonic Incursion in Ultramar.
It turns out the devices I created to block the Warp from entering friendly territory are working even better than intended. According to the Emperor, the chaos creatures of the Warp struggle to comprehend that they are not the pinnacle of existence. They think they can overpower my device and directly attack the heart of Ultramar.
They cannot grasp that someone can physically bar them from entering our space. That bulge I noticed earlier is the device working overtime to repel the daemons. It acts as an unbreakable net, ensuring no warp entity can punch through this sector of reality.
It is so effective that the Emperor orders more of them to be manufactured and activated immediately.
The bulge is still there, pulsing. As long as the Chaos Gods are attempting to breach this part of the galaxy, it stays like that. It would be far worse if they breached the other side of the galaxy, and we could not reach those sectors in time with the device.
The Emperor is already instructing his people to build the device in every corner of the galaxy; Isha is doing the same with her people, though I do not know if they will manage to finish in time.
The greatest MILF in the galaxy keeps smiling when I tell her about my concerns, urging me not to worry. According to her, her race can reach the far edges of the galaxy and activate the devices without issue.
If that is the case, then all is well. The device cannot block the entire Warp, but it can redirect where entities emerge into Realspace. We make sure to place those exits in fortified systems where any daemons can be purged before they cause a problem, or at least held until reinforcements arrive.
I shake my head and set those thoughts aside for now. I decide to keep busy and start tinkering. I use my [Tinker – Alchemy (IV)] once again, but this time, I make sure to combine it with other tinker specialties.
I stop for a second as I remember something important: the [Holy Grail] is already finished recharging. It only takes 720 hours to be ready for use again, and it's been a while since I used that thing.
I can use it to create the materials I need for my current project. I can make a wish that grants me all the specific components required for my tinkering. There are numerous projects I have had to shelve because I lack the materials to complete them. However, with this, I can wish for said materials and receive hundreds or even thousands of tons of them.
I simply need a massive warehouse to house the goods.
I walk out of my workshop and notice all kinds of servants waiting for me. Since working alongside the Emperor and Isha, I have a small army of servants who obey my every word. That includes the Custodes and Elite Aeldari Farseers.
I look around for a moment, then turn to Rita, my most trusted friend and guardian.
"Rita, can you tell the others to find an empty warehouse for me? Any empty, abandoned one will do, as long as it can handle thousands of tons of material. There is something I want to do there."
"Of course, my Lord."
"Thank you, dear."
She blushes slightly, and I return to my workshop. Because of her position as my guardian and trusted right-hand woman, Rita is now a very important person in the Imperium. She can even order around nobles. While she cannot command high-ranking military officers, she can direct the civilian counterparts of those officials.
It makes it much easier for me to acquire things because Rita and my guardians can handle the logistics. It makes everything more efficient and less stressful for me.
I shake my head and focus on the blueprint in front of me. To help in the upcoming war, I need to build something that is specifically effective against the Warp, and I know exactly what will work.
== Line Break ==
I feel a headache coming as I stand between two massive figures. The Emperor and Isha decide to come along to see what I intend to do with a massive empty warehouse. With them, there are hundreds of people coming along. I don't like this kind of attention. Oh well, there is nothing I can do about this.
Speaking of warehouses, the Emperor went all out and ordered the largest available facility to be cleared for me. The man actually told the ruling class of Macragge to empty the largest warehouse in the capital city just for my use. That man doesn't know the word subtlety and will always go big.
"What do you want to do, Old Friend?"
I release a sigh and take out the [Holy Grail]. The Emperor and Isha look at the cup, both shocked and intrigued.
"Do you remember the legend of the Holy Grail? The story from the time before Terra was even called Terra?"
"Yes, I know that legend. It is a tale where knights search for a legendary cup that can grant any wish to those who drink from it."
"Well, this is the Holy Grail. However, instead of just granting vague wishes, this thing creates whatever you desire from the energy stored inside. It is another marvel from the Dark Age of Technology. Every 720 hours, someone can 'wish' into the grail, and it constructs the items the wisher wants. It creates matter from stored energy and reads neural signals targeted at the grail itself. Here, let me show you."
I walk forward and say.
"I wish to fill this warehouse with craftable Noctilith!"
The grail shines golden and releases a massive surge of energy. The light washes over the entire warehouse, creating massive stacks of Noctilith or Blackstone out of nowhere. Slowly, the stacks grow into a mountain that fills the entire space.
I really underestimated the power of the Holy Grail. I think it could fill another warehouse of this size with Blackstone with a single wish. Maybe I should order a bigger warehouse? Or maybe an underground vault.
"This… changes everything."
"Oh, definitely. The grail can create anything you can imagine. As long as you have a clear image in your head, this thing can construct it. However, there are limits. It cannot create a fully functioning planet, nor can it repair or destroy one."
I turn to Isha.
"Truthfully, I wanted to offer the Aeldari this item to allow them to produce Spirit Stones, but with you here, I do not think I need to give you the grail itself."
"You can still offer us the item, you know~ I would be forever grateful."
"Cease your attempts to seduce my old friend, Xenos. You shall not receive technology created by humanity."
And there they go again. I shake my head, walk to the mountain of Blackstone, and pick up a small ingot. I feel the cold metal in my hand and smile. My Tinker abilities are screaming at me, offering hundreds of ideas on how to use this material.
Most of them require significant time to build, but a few ideas are immediately viable. I can turn this metal into an energy source that mimics the power of the Blank Gene. It will cause any warp-born creature to collapse into itself the moment the energy touches its flesh.
I plan to produce a Lasgun that fires beams containing Blank psychic energy. Let's see how the daemons handle millions of Astra Militarum soldiers firing anti-warp energy at them. The Chaos Gods will not know what hit them.
