Suddenly, Akame is the first to run outside, jumping through the window, followed by Bulat who instantly equips Incursio.
"You guys should take care of them. Not a single person escapes," Najenda says, then immediately begins walking away from the scene as if she has somewhere important to be.
"Okun—sama! I'm heading outside!" Tatsumi exclaims, excitement evident in his voice.
Mine also leaves through another exit with Pumpkin, followed by Lubbock and then Sheele.
"Darling, off I go!" Leone says as well, jumping through the window while transforming at the same time.
Soon after, I begin hearing the rattling of gunfire and the clash of swords. When I glance outside the broken window, I see about three guys already lying dead on the ground, including one headless body that looks like Leone's handiwork.
Well…
I sigh and walk toward the back exit before climbing up onto the roof. I remember this scene from the original series, although I'm not sure how this version will play out. Still, the intruders were brutally demolished in the original, so there's really no point in me doing anything.
But if I don't participate in defending the castle, I might get hated for it.
The next moment, I equip my Shingu, a silver gauntlet appearing over my hand, though I remain crouched on the roof, quietly observing the entire situation.
This is different from the series. In the series it looked like a total slaughter, but what I'm seeing now tells a different story. Even though these guys are average fighters without Shingus, they're still pretty skilled.
That said, I guess this is the last time I should keep comparing things to the series. Also, the average human in this world is about 2.5 times stronger than the average human in my previous life, with some even reaching four times that level or more. Because of that, these guys can perform some ridiculous superhuman feats even without enhancements.
While watching the events unfold, someone suddenly begins creeping up behind me slowly. For some reason, I can smell the person despite them not making even the slightest noise. If anything, the person is extremely good at concealing themselves.
"Najenda, I thought you had somewhere to go," I say.
Instantly, she drops the act, finally making a sound as she moves closer and crouches beside me while observing the battlefield.
"I didn't expect you to be here," she says, pulling out a pair of binoculars to examine what's happening.
"Just checking things out. It would be dumb to jump into action without knowing the number of attackers or the level of threat they pose. From this position, if anything happens, I'll be able to take care of it," I explain.
"I see…" Najenda mutters, giving me an odd look before adding, "You would make a great leader someday."
I don't respond to that and instead ask her another question.
"Why have you been ignoring me since that day?" I say, noticing her expression falter slightly.
"This isn't the right time to talk about that. But think about it. Wouldn't it set a bad example if the leader fell in love or perhaps got pre—urgh, forget it. You're pesky, tch," she clicks her tongue and begins leaving, clearly stopping herself from saying something.
I simply chuckle as she walks away, wondering what exactly she wanted to say.
Either way—
LET THE SLAUGHTER BEGIN!
A maniacal grin spreads across my face as I spot four of the intruders trying to slip away without any of my teammates noticing.
