Chapter 341 - Higher Heavens

Far across the universe, separated by billions of light-years and unfathomable cosmic expanses, lay the resplendent territory of a Great Sect. This was a place where the very laws of reality bent to the whims of its ancient inhabitants, where the ambient mana was so impossibly dense that it flowed like liquid light even throughout the void.

Deep within this territory, an alien being sat cross-legged, meditating within the silence of his private chamber.

The chamber itself was a masterpiece. Its walls were forged from materials that actively repelled the chaotic currents of time and space, ensuring that not a single distraction could pierce the tranquility within. The being who sat at the center of this stillness was Damian, an ancient Astral Stage sovereign.

Suddenly, the rhythm of his meditation broke.

"What?" Damian thought, his brow furrowing in irritation as he abruptly opened his eyes.

Hovering just a few inches in front of his face was a single golden thread of fate. It pulsed with a frantic frequency, entirely out of place in the perfectly controlled environment of his sanctum.

"Why is a thread of fate appearing now?" he wondered, his ancient eyes narrowing. With a swift motion, Damian extended his hand toward the floating thread. The moment his fingertips brushed against the golden light, the thread dissolved, sinking directly into his body.

Instantly, his vision shifted. The quiet walls of his meditation chamber vanished, replaced by a rapid sequence of images transmitted across the vast cosmic distance from the Providence Hub.

He witnessed the perspective of his descendant, Navira, as she fought against a wanderer and then later attempted to scry his origins. He felt the overwhelming, incomprehensible abyss of power that had surged through the divination array, shattering it into a million pieces and injuring her in the process.

"Such Audacity!" Damian screamed, his voice booming with a concussive force that caused the very foundations of his meditation chamber to tremble.

He opened his eyes fully. The tranquil ambient mana of the room instantly transformed into a raging tempest, whipping his robes around him.

Someone had dared to make problems for the descendants he had left behind! Even though millions of years had passed since he had turned his back on them to chase his dreams of supremacy within this Great Sect, that place back there was still his home. Once upon a time, he had been the one to lead their race. He had forged the foundation of the Ethereal Providence Sect with his own hands. Now, seeing the humiliating events fate had just shown him triggered a rage within his chest.

"Destroyed an Astral Stage divination..." Damian thought, his eyes narrowing into dangerous slits as he replayed the sensation of the backlash in his mind. "Is it them? Only the Heaven-Weaving Pavilion possesses the ability to summon a void that swallows divination in such a violent manner! Are they targeting my descendants to distract me?"

Many thoughts churned rapidly within his mind. The white-grey essence he had witnessed in the vision did not look familiar, but the method of shielding one's fate with such an impenetrable barrier was the hallmark of the Heaven-Weaving Pavilion. They were a rival Great Sect, masters of fate manipulation and causality, and they had clashed with his own faction on numerous occasions.

If this was true, the boy who had humiliated his descendants was not an independent anomaly. He was a highly trained, heavily shielded junior acting as a pawn in a much larger intergalactic game.

"Androxus!" Damian suddenly shouted, his voice laced with unquestionable authority.

Within seconds, the sealed doors of his chamber slid open without a sound. A lean alien man stepped into the room. His physical form was a mesmerizing display; his body was half-transparent with silver skin that seemed to exist between the physical and illusory planes.

The man immediately dropped to one knee, bowing deeply toward Damian. "Yes, Master."

"Someone from the Heaven-Weaving Pavilion is targeting my descendants to distract me," Damian stated.

Androxus raised his head slightly, his silver eyes flashing with understanding. "Master, if that is the case, it should be Elder Milan of the Heaven-Weaving Pavilion. He is the only one among their ranks who harbors a personal vengeance against us."

Damian nodded slowly, the pieces of the political puzzle aligning in his mind. "Yes, I suspect the same. He has sent a junior in secret to the intergalactic hub that my descendants own. By shielding the boy's fate with their pavilion's methods, he intends to create chaos in my old territory. He should be planning something larger, attempting to draw me out or disrupt my mental state."

The rivalry between the elders of Great Sects rarely manifested in direct, open combat. The collateral damage of two such beings clashing would annihilate entire galaxies. Instead, they played proxy wars, moving pieces across the cosmic board, targeting attachments, subsidiaries, and historical footholds to inflict humiliation and psychological damage.

Damian thought for a moment, his gaze turning distant as he weighed his options. The insult to his bloodline demanded blood in return, but stepping away from his sanctum now would be a catastrophic mistake.

"Androxus, you will go there and handle this matter," Damian commanded, looking down at his loyal disciple. "My current focus is upon reaching the Illusory stage. The fourth stage of consciousness mastery is within my grasp, and if I break my seclusion to travel across the universe for a petty dispute, I will lose the momentum I have spent the last hundred thousand years building. That is exactly what Milan wants."

Androxus bowed his head respectfully. "Yes, Master. I will go and deal with this. You must focus solely on your ascension. The honor of your bloodline will be restored."

Damian nodded, though a note of caution entered his voice. "Be careful, Androxus. As my personal disciple, your location and energy signature will also be constantly tracked by the observation arrays. If they see you moving directly toward the Providence Hub, they will know we have taken the bait."

Damian raised a hand, gesturing sharply. "Use the void gate to travel to a nearby, neutral sector first. Mask your trajectory, and then move from there using localized spatial jumps. You must arrive undetected."

He paused, leaning forward slightly to emphasize his next point. "And especially, do not try to read the fate of that junior. He is clearly protected by the Heaven-Weaving Pavilion. If you attempt to divine his origins or his next movements, the backlash will critically injure your Astral Core."

Androxus absorbed the warning, "Yes, Master. I understand the parameters of the mission. I will rely on my own strength and track him through conventional means. I will be careful."

With a final, deeply respectful bow, Androxus turned and departed. His form blurred, phasing through the corridors of the Great Sect as he made his way toward the designated void gate.

Within a few moments after Androxus had left, the silence of the meditation chamber was broken by a soft chime.

Damian glanced down at his spatial ring. His UNI-OS token was receiving a transmission. He activated the token with a flick of his mana. A holographic display materialized in front of him.

The projection stabilized, displaying the interior of a chamber within the Providence Hub. Kneeling upon the floor, their expressions a mixture of terror and hope, were Navira and Tenyz.

"Ancestor!" Navira and Tenyz immediately bowed deeply, pressing their foreheads toward the floor in the projection, their voices shaking with reverence.

"Rise," Damian commanded.

Navira and Tenyz slowly lifted their heads, but they did not dare to stand completely.

Before Navira could even begin to explain the disaster that had befallen them, Damian spoke, cutting off her apologies. "You need not speak. I have already seen the ripples in the threads of fate. I know what transpired within your hub, and I know who stands behind the arrogant junior that humiliated you."

Navira's breath caught in her throat. Tenyz's eyes widened to impossible proportions. They had not even said a single word about the incident. The transmission had barely connected. And their ancestor already knew everything that happened here! Was his power truly that unfathomable, that he could perceive the events of a distant galaxy the moment they occurred?

Just this single display of omniscience reinforced the terrifying power level of their ancestor. And this realization finally allowed the suffocating tension within both Navira and Tenyz to melt away.

Damian leaned closer to the display, his eyes pinning Navira in place through the projection.

"You have good potential, Navira," Damian said, his tone carrying a rare note of genuine approval. "Being able to divine against someone backed by an entity much stronger than you, a shield forged by the elites of a Great Sect, and still being alive to make this call is not that easy. It proves your foundation is remarkably solid."

Navira's heart pounded against her ribs.

"Once all this ends," Damian continued, "I will take you in. You will leave that lesser hub behind and join me here, within the true pinnacle of the universe."

Navira bowed in respect, tears of overwhelming relief and joy pricking the corners of her eyes. "Thank you, Ancestor! I am eternally unworthy of your grace!"

To ascend from a Lesser Major Sect and be granted entry into a Great Sect was a dream that countless trillions of cultivators chased, yet practically none achieved. It was the ultimate validation of her existence.

Hearing this, Tenyz was also ecstatically happy for his mother. If she ascended to the Great Sect, it only made his own chances for a boundless future much stronger! The humiliation he had suffered at Adrian's hands felt entirely insignificant compared to the cosmic promotion his bloodline had just secured.

Damian's expression turned stern, the brief moment of praise concluding. "For now, do not dare to use divination again. The enemy has laid a trap in the threads of fate. I have already sent my personal proxy; he will arrive there shortly and will deal with the issues. You do not need to worry about anything. Just maintain the hub's stability and wait."

He locked eyes with them one last time. "Do not fail me."

The transmission abruptly cut off, the holographic screen vanishing completely.

Navira and Tenyz were left staring at the darkened space where the UNI-OS display had been. The quiet hum of the Providence Hub's energy conduits filled the silence of their chamber. A ticking clock had now been set for the outsider who had humiliated them.

"HAHAHA!"

Tenyz laughed suddenly, a harsh, manic sound that echoed off the walls, releasing all the tension that had gripped him. He had been so afraid. He had been terrified about the power of the outsider, and even more terrified about how they were going to speak with their ancestor, or if their ancestor even cared about them after millions of years of silence.

Now, seeing how overwhelmingly powerful their ancestor was and how they had secured his support so effortlessly, let him laugh crazily. The fear that had paralyzed his mind shattered, replaced by a vicious, burning euphoria.

He grabbed his mother's arms and shouted, "Mother! Did you hear him?! Once we deal with these bastards, you will be able to enter the Great Sect! This is such a joyous occasion!"

Navira slowly lowered her hands, a deep breath filling her lungs.

She nodded, her eyes narrowing as she looked toward the artificial sky of the Inner Continent. Even she didn't expect things to go this smoothly.

A cruel smile bloomed on her face as she thought about the impending fate of the bastards who had dared to make them fear for their lives. The outsider thought he had won. He thought his hidden masters had shielded him perfectly. But he was about to learn that in the grand hierarchy of the universe, there were always higher heavens, and the wrath of a Great Sect was inescapable.
