Chapter 206 - [205] Three Kekkei Genkai

True to Kaien's premonition, the Kirigakure high command had orchestrated a coordinated trap. The high-elite shinobi of the Mist were converging on a single target: Kumogakure's Commander, Aya.

Kaien who was unaware of the trap around his mother, had been dispatched to handle a separate critical objective along with Itachi, Jugo and Guren... the destruction of the Mist-producing machinery that was used to blanket the coast in a blinding haze, even though they were successful in clearing the fog the true root cause, the machinery, is still at the coastline.

High above the field, hidden by camouflage of Utakata's bubble jutsu, Ao's clones proved to be just as effective as their Mizukage Yagura suspected... as they operated with terrifying efficiency, tracking movement across a wider region by floating in the bubble.

Their information had been dead accurate: Commander Aya, a 4-star threat, was an absolute monster on the battlefield, possessing power that demanded nothing short of an execution squad of this caliber.

On the ground, the fog parted slightly to reveal Mizukage's commander, Mei Terumī standing in Aya's path. Positioned just beside the Commander was Kumo's Vice Commander, Dodai, his eyes narrowed as he assessed the incoming ambush.

Mei looked at Aya with a calm expression, backed by the strength of the forces she had gathered. "Are you prepared to leave your life in this battle?" Mei asked seductively.

Based on the intel they had gathered, this lineup...a deadly mix of three of Seven Ninja Swordsmen, Jinchūriki, and kekkei genkai users... should have been more than enough to bring down any single shinobi, no matter how legendary. To bring them together they had abandoned the leadership roles for the rest of the battalion as they focused only to bring down Kumo's commander.

Aya's smirk widened across her lips. "Let's start with you then."

Before the sentence could even fully be registered by Kiri shinobi, Aya activated her Swift Release. The advanced nature transformation which enhanced her physical capabilities, granting her blinding, no... almost instantaneous acceleration. In less than a fraction of a heartbeat, her figure dissolved into nothing more than a distorted blur.

"Swift Release: Shadowless Flight"

Mei's eyes widened in shock. "So fast!"

Utakata, instantly recognizing the threat of a speed-type blitz, reacted on pure instinct. He blew frantically into his blow pipe deploying hundreds of floating explosive bubbles in every direction.

He created an impenetrable perimeter of floating mines to ensure they wouldn't be instantly caught off-guard by a speed they could barely track with their eyes. Nearby, Zabuza Momochi and Jūzō Biwa immediately wove hand seals, casting the Hiding in Mist Technique.

The white fog thickened rapidly, aimed at stripping Aya of her line of sight and forcing her to slow down.

Yet, Aya moved like a ghost... she zipped in a blinding zigzag pattern, weaving through the floating field of bubbles without triggering a single one. Even through the wall of mist, they could feel the pressure of her approach. She was tracking them directly through the mist.

Pivoting hard on her heel, Aya extended her arm, her fingers stiffening as chakra surged through her.

"Storm Release: Crazy Laser Circus!"

Dozens of bright guided beams of laser-like light erupted from her hand, piercing through the haze. The heat was so intense it instantly vaporized the moisture in the air around the laser, creating vacuum trails. The attack was targeted at the group, moving too fast for evasion.

Just before the lethal beams could impale them, Kisame lunged forward, hurling the massive bandaged frame of Samehada into the path of the oncoming assault.

Aya's eyes narrowed in momentary disbelief. Her Storm Release should have easily shredded through any ordinary weapon, yet the moment the beams struck the wrapped sword, her jutsu simply vanished. Samehada let out an eerie angry hiss, its scaly hide writhing as it devoured Aya's chakra-rich jutsu whole.

While Aya's focus was briefly diverted by the living sword, Mei seized the opening. Slithering into Aya's blind spot, Mei's fingers flickered through a rapid sequence of hand seals, her chest heaving as she drew in a massive breath.

"Boil Release: Skilled Mist Technique!"

Mei exhaled a dense shimmering cloud of acidic mist. The vapor carried a terrifying caustic, capable of melting flesh, bone, and even tearing through pure chakra-based defenses and barriers on contact. Confident that no physical or armor could withstand the corrosion, Mei pressed the advantage.

The moment the acidic vapor brushed against Aya's skin, a sharp burning sensation flared, forcing the Commander to instantly leap backward. But Mei was already a step ahead, immediately transitioning into her second kekkei genkai.

"Lava Release: Melting Apparition Technique!"

A stream of highly acidic mud erupted from Mei's mouth. She swept her head, distributing the corrosive liquid across a vast radius, forming a burning lake and a dome-like barrier of acid to completely wall off Aya's escape routes.

Mei wiped a trace of glowing lava from the corner of her lip, panting slightly. "Looks like you have two kekkei genkai, just like me."

Trapped within the ring of melting lava and burning mist, Aya chuckled even though her skin burnt away and her muscles were visible... a low sound came from every direction. "Two, you say...? Hahaha... I really didn't want to resort to this barbarous combination. But it certainly makes me fast."

Crackles of blinding blue lightning erupted around Aya's body, weaving together into a crackling Lightning Release Armor. The discharge of electricity supercharged her nervous system, pushing her reaction times and physical speed.

Forming a single Bird hand seal, Aya drew upon a massive reservoir of chakra, expanding into a howling tempest.

"Typhoon Release: Great Consecutive Bursting Extreme Winds!"

A monstrous vortex of compressed wind exploded outward from her. The gale force roared through the battlefield, utterly sweeping away everything in its path. The powerful wind pressure blew apart the surrounding forest and effortlessly scattered Mei's acidic Boil Release mist into nonexistence.

Aya stood in the center as her lightning cloak crackled to life. "Your Boil Release has become pointless against my Typhoon Release!"

Stacking the speed of her Swift Release directly on top of her Lightning Release Cloak, Aya vanished. There was no blur or trail... just instant displacement.
