The writing appeared almost immediately on the page again, dark ink forming across the blank paper as if it were being written by an invisible hand.
Axel's parents froze.
Their reactions were almost identical to everyone else who had seen the words appear for the first time- shock, disbelief, and confusion all colliding at once.
They both stared at the page in stunned silence, slowly, their eyes moved across the lines as they read, their expressions twisting further with every sentence.
When they finally finished, Paul- Axel's father, abruptly stood up.
"You're telling me," he said slowly, his voice strained with disbelief, "that this thing appearing and disappearing on a blank page is actually real, and that what…?" He gestured vaguely at the book. "My son is the male omega who can conceive?!"
Beside him, Axel's mother, Alice, was still staring down at the page, but the writing had already faded.
