The guards were stationed at the gate, their voices carrying faintly through the night. Of course there would still be guards, even with the academy closed.
Ivan and Dallas kept their distance, moving carefully until they found the familiar path. It didn't take long before they slipped into the main building unnoticed, heading straight for Alpha Norman's office.
Ivan pulled out the keys he had stolen from his father and unlocked the door with quiet precision. Once it clicked open, he stepped aside and gestured inward. "You first."
Dallas glanced at him before stepping inside. "Why did that sound like 'ladies first'?" he muttered under his breath.
Ivan heard him anyway and chuckled. "If you say so," he replied, locking the door behind them before following him in.
"Hey!" Dallas turned sharply at that, his voice low but firm. "Don't you dare diminish me. We're both..."
"Alphas," Ivan cut in smoothly, finishing the sentence. "I know. But I'm older than you."
