There was always darkness on the Silence, like the belly of the beast deep from the Shivering Sea. The mutes of the Crow's Eye had robbed him of his of robe and shoes and all that remained was chains and scabs all around his body. It had been days since Euron had captured him from Kingsmoot on the Iron Islands and from that day Aeron had not seen the light, lantern or otherwise.
It was the sound of hinges that sounded then, a sound so inhumane that it sounded like devil's cry deep in the prison of the ship Silence, the personal ship of Euron Greyjoy. He knew it was his captor for none other had the guts to enter the cell, he hung the lantern from a post and the light began to hurt his eyes.
"Where are we sailing?" Aeron croaked at Euron. His lips were crusty with scabs, and hoarse after days of silence.
"Dorne for conquest and plunder which will finally lead me to my dragons." The godless monster replied.
"My place is on the islands." Aeron countered for he did not wanted any part in the work of Euron Greyjoy, a soulless man who had defied gods and men,
"Your place is where I want you for I am your God." Euron began and before he could speak against his blasphemous words, Euron continued "Drink with me, brother."
For the first time since Euron entered the prison did Aeron raised his head to look at his elder brother, he wore a shirt of iron scales and a cloak of blood red silk. His eyepatch was made of red leather and his lips blue.
"What do you want of me?" Aeron asked tired of his Euron game.
"What can you offer me that I have not had before?" Euron smiled and continued. "I left the islands in the hands of old Erik Ironmaker, and sealed his loyalty with the hand of our sweet niece Asha. They would marry as soon as I free her from the fool who calls himself Aemon that also threatens my dear soon to be wife Daenerys."
"Release me. The god commands it." Aeron shouts, tired of his words.
"Drink with me. Your king commands it." Euron replied with still smile on his face but seeing defiance on Aeron's face he grabbed a handful of his brother's tangled black hair, pulled his head back, and lifted the wine cup to his lips. The thing that flowed into his mouth was not wine but a paste thick and viscous. Aeron tried to spit it out, but Euron tightened his grip and forced more down his throat. "That's it, priest brother. Gulp it down. This is the wine of the warlocks, it will help you remember Urrigon. You loved our dear brother, didn't you."
"I curse you," Aeron said, when the cup was empty as it dripped from down his chin into his long, black beard.
"If I had the tongue of every man who cursed me, I could make a cloak of them but that is not what I captured you for brother." Euron replied as he sits down in front of Aeron and picks a rat scurrying in the cell. "I wanted to confess my crimes brother, I wish for your god's forgiveness in actions I committed or will commit. For the brothers I killed, Harlon and Robin when I was no more than a teen and our dear Balon for I made him jump off the bridge at Pyke." Euron said caressing the rat.
Aeron's face turn white upon hearing his words, he felt the cell turning colder and the hinges screaming him to bite his tongue but he could not do it and with all the faith he carried, he roared, "There is no crime more sinful than kinslaying Euron and so there shall be no pardon of you but I know it will not be my axe or sword that will bring you down but the power of faith."
Euron clicked his tongue hearing Aeron's words "And here I thought that my priestly brother would help me cleanse my sins." He then gets up from his seat and with speed unmatched shoves the rat inside Aeron's mouth while slamming a punch to the jaw to close them.
Aeron gags to the actions as Euron forces him to swallow the head while he himself sucks on the blood of now headless rat, "I have the horn and dragons would be mine and soon the entire world." He states as he shoved Aeron away with his leg and left the cell.
Now left alone in darkness of cell, Aeron felt nausea and rage but it was the rats coming out their holes that made his skin crawl, he could see the vision of Urri by the cell gate his whisper reaching his ears, The Gods are calling brother, lets go together but he could not agree to it, not before the monster who calls himself Euron face the judgement of Drowned Gods.
Daenerys had never liked Pentos for it was here where her brother sold her as broodmare to Khal Drogo and though she came to love him it carried bad memories. Today was no different, for a sennight now since her khalasar and Aegon's men had formed a camp here.
But now it was different, for she hated mornings too now. She did not want to wake up today, not even dared to open her eyes, for she dreamt of only him when she closed her eyes. If only she had the power, she would have made their nights go on forever, but the best that she could do was stay awake to try and count his days to come back.
Beside her slept Aegon, her nephew, as peacefully as a newborn babe. He too had a gift for sleeping, he loved to boast, smiling in that cocksure way of his similar to Euron but he could never be him. Days ago, Lord Euron Greyjoy had come to swear his fealty to her and Aegon, and her nephew had not liked him nor had her bear or Aegon's protector, Lord Connington.
With the word coming of Dorne's fealty to the pretender Aemon, Aegon had then planned together with Jon Connington and had send Euron to bring Dorne to heel by starting war for the heirship of the Frog Prince though he had been just a pawn for the new Prince of Dorne had already been decided as Ser Gerold Dayne, Knight of High Hermitage and head of his House, Daynes of High Hermitage.
Daenerys had liked it not for she knew the worth of men like Euron Greyjoy, she needed men like him to bring Westeros to its low for her. Aegon had said many words of love to her but she knew it was her being the Dragon queen he loved. So in her haste to secure another alliance, after his dismissal to bring Dorne to their fold, she had baited him to their chambers that had now blossomed love in her heart.
The candle flickered one last time and died, and darkness swallowed the feather bed and its two occupants, and filled every corner of the chamber. Dany wrapped her arms around her soon-to-be husband and pressed herself against his back. She drank in the scent of him, but all she smelt was salt and free wind, the feel of his skin against her own just like that day when Euron took her on bed which she had shared with Aegon.
Aegon rolled toward her feeling her. "Daenerys." He gave a lazy smile. "Is it dawn?", he asked with his soft voice that Jon Connigton had said matched to her brother, Rhaegar, that doubled her with guilt. Remember, she told herself. Remember your own happiness.
"Not yet. We have a while still." She said looking outside their tent.
"Liar. I can see your eyes. Where do you want to get married?" Aegon asked leaning into her for a kiss.
Daenerys pulled the coverlet over her breast and said in teasing manner, "You could take me in any of the treasonous lords house that we burn down or over the pretender's body who robs us for our birthright." Giving him a passionate kiss but even as she said that, all she heard was a confident voice ringing in her head, I am the storm, my queen just like you are the stormborn. The first storm, the last and together we both will change the world. And so she craved for his touch and his worship for she was his storm goddess and not a mere queen.
The day went by and it was close to sunset when Aegon returned drunk after overseeing the ships, men, warhorses and elephants of Golden Company. He was so deeply intoxicated that he could not stand and as she watched him sleep all she could think of was the night she shared with one-eyed Ironborn. Aegon could never make me scream like that?, and then she knew that she made the right choice. Euron was a man, who does his duty as commanded and someone who will make the people of Westeros see her as their rightful queen.
And now all that remained was for them to sail to Westeros and wait for Euron to bring her the world.
