Alicia dropped her drink and walked over to Scar by the treadmill. She looked at the digital display, then at Scar, and burst into a fit of laughter.
"You think I ran that with just my bare legs?" she asked, giggling.
Scar raised a brow. "What do you mean?"
Alicia lifted her right leg, tapping the side of her advanced-looking, heavily modified sneakers. "Kinetic propulsion boots. I designed them myself. They manipulate the initial gravity and kinetic energy around my feet, practically shooting me forward like a bullet."
She dropped her foot, her tone turning slightly more scientific. "But it's not just the boots. I also developed a biological regulator—a micro-stimulant patch that temporarily fortifies my cardiovascular system to withstand the G-force of running at high speeds."
Scar stared at her in awe. "So you're cheating," he scoffed.
"No, I'm improvising."
Scar chuckled. "Improvising? Is that another word for cheating?"
