Serena Sutton scheduled her wisdom tooth extraction for Wednesday, and Caleb Lockwood made time to accompany her.
She first took a panoramic dental X-ray, and the two of them sat on the chairs waiting for the results. Serena glanced at the man beside her, stubbornly saying, "Remember, after my tooth is out, you're taking me for barbecue."
Caleb agreed readily, his expression calm: "Okay."
Even though he doesn't like, or actually dislikes, eating out, as long as it's something she wants to do, he's willing to be there with her.
The two chatted idly, although it was mostly Serena talking. Caleb's nature is quite reserved, and she didn't expect Dr. Lockwood to initiate conversation with her.
Once the X-ray was out, Doctor York looked at it and exclaimed, "Dr. Lockwood's companion, your teeth are great, very straight."
Dr. Lockwood's companion? Serena felt a bit awkward; she'd heard the word 'companion' more than once. Doctors sure know how to have fun.
