The scene gradually came into focus.
Saitama suddenly turned around and asked, "Hero registry?"
Genos was scrolling through his phone. "Yeah. I'm ranked S-Class," he said.
"You're ranked C-Class, Sensei. Both of us are dead last in our classes."
"For now, they're using our real names — Genos and Saitama. Once things get going, the Association will assign us proper hero names."
Saitama blinked, confused. "Hero names? What's that supposed to be?"
Genos replied seriously, "They're titles based on each hero's unique traits. For example, mine could be something like… Golden-Haired Cyborg."
Saitama sighed. "Then what, mine's gonna be 'Bald Cape' or something?"
Genos continued, ignoring the complaint. "Huh… there's even a popularity ranking here, besides the strength one. Some heroes even have fan clubs."
He clenched his fists. "Forget it. None of that matters. Today, I've made a selfish request, Sensei. I hope you'll understand."
Saitama started walking toward the open field. "Yeah, yeah. I already agreed to take you on as a disciple, didn't I? This far enough?"
Genos nodded. "Perfect. I'm serious about this, Sensei. I want you to go all out against me. I'll be fighting with everything I've got!"
He dropped into a battle stance, blue flames igniting around his body as his metal arms began to glow.
"Please, teach me well!"
A burst of golden fire roared from his back like rocket engines. The ground shook as Genos launched forward, a streak of light exploding behind him. Saitama just stood there, blank-faced, watching.
Genos' foot cut through the air, surrounded by arcs of lightning. He was unbelievably fast—yet Saitama leaned back slightly, letting the kick whoosh past his face.
Genos steadied himself midair, then fired a flurry of energy blasts from his palms. Saitama weaved between them effortlessly, still looking more bored than anything.
Each attack from Genos ripped the ground apart, creating shockwaves that tore up the terrain. Craters opened, rocks flew everywhere, and the battlefield became a storm of debris.
Saitama sighed as he dodged. "Man, this kid's gonna wreck the whole neighborhood…"
Genos shot upward, his body blazing with power. He gathered a massive orb of golden energy in his hands and kicked down hard, releasing it.
The explosion split the ground open like a canyon.
Then, from the smoke, another beam of golden light shot upward—Genos' next attack.
"Damn!" Saitama muttered, springing higher into the air.
The golden beam slammed into the cliff behind him.
BOOM!
A blinding explosion rocked the area. Flames shot into the sky, and a thick cloud of smoke rolled across the battlefield.
Saitama landed softly, brushing his sleeve. "Phew… close one! My outfit almost got toasted again."
Before him, the ground was scorched black, a deep trench glowing with embers.

Saitama blurred as well—both vanished completely.
Two streaks of light flashed across the sky like twin meteors. Their speed was beyond human comprehension.
Genos threw punch after punch, each strike detonating on impact. The cliffs shattered, and the whole landscape trembled.
When the smoke cleared, there was a massive crater in the ground.
Genos looked around in disbelief. "Where is he?!"
"Don't tell me I've been hitting afterimages this whole time…"
His scanners beeped. "Found him!"
A flicker of light—then Genos appeared right in front of Saitama. His arms transformed, revealing rows of micro-cannons.
"Burn—everything!!"
A tidal wave of fire swallowed the battlefield whole.
"This time," Genos muttered, "Sensei will have to show his true strength…"

Genos swung instantly, but Saitama was gone before his punch landed.
"Sensei!" Genos shouted. "You're forgetting the rules of this duel!"
"If you can dodge, then dodge!""Don't hold back!""Fight seriously!""Please—don't go easy on me!""Hit me with everything you've got until I can't fight anymore!"
"Somewhere inside you, there's a power even you don't fully understand!"
"Maybe… through this battle, I can grasp what that power really is!"
"Don't you dare go easy on me, Sensei!"
Genos charged forward again—
—but Saitama moved faster than light. By the time Genos sensed him, he was already behind him.
Genos kicked hard, but hit only another afterimage.
"What?!"
A rush of wind hit his back—he turned just in time to see a fist filling his vision.
The next instant, Saitama's punch stopped inches from his face.
The sheer force of the wind from it blanketed the field in smoke and dust.
Then Saitama lightly patted Genos on the shoulder.
"Man, I'm starving. Let's go grab something to eat. How about udon?"
Genos stood there frozen, a cold chill running down his back.
"…As you wish, Sensei."
