Chapter 29 - Unspoken

But far from the warmth of that moment — in a place called Velmora, territory of the Shadow Legion Pack, led by the strongest werewolf alive… Verek the phantom king.

"Verek," a voice murmured from the shadows, low and cold.

"He's making his move… the one they call The Alpha."

A heavy silence followed. The air shifted—like something powerful had just awakened.

Footsteps echoed, slow and deliberate.

Verk stepped forward, his face still buried in shadow.

"Let him," he said, voice like steel.

"Gather the Round Table. And send word to Mikasa."

He paused, a cruel smile tugging at his lips.

"It's time these Obsidian pricks learnt their place."

Back in the house, where the weight of emotions still lingered, the silence between them stretched—thick and heavy.

Sarah's cheeks flushed, eyes darting away, heart pounding like a drum.

Jake's face heated, his gaze dropping to the floor.

Neither knew what to say. Neither dared break the quiet.

The next morning came too soon.

"Fuck, fuck, fuck" Sarah rolled around on her bed. "Why did I do that?"

Jake sat at the edge of his bed, staring at the ceiling.

"I couldn't get any sleep. How do we even act normal after that?"

Sarah stared at her reflection, cheeks still burning.

"Did he feel it too? Was it real?"

Her phone buzzed—a message from David:

"Morning love, how's everything back there?"

She froze.

Sarah's thumb hovered over the screen, heart racing.

"Do I reply? What do I even say?"

At the same time, Jake's phone buzzed. A message from David appeared:

"Hey, son."

Jake exhaled slowly, running a hand through his hair.

"Great."

Jake shuffled nervously in front of his room door before finally stepping out.

Sarah appeared at the same time, avoiding his eyes, cheeks still flushed.

"Morning," she mumbled, voice barely above a whisper.

"Morning," Jake replied, rubbing the back of his neck.

They stood there, unsure what to say next.

"So… uh," Jake finally broke the silence, "you doing better now?"

Sarah shrugged, biting her lip.

"Y-yeah, kiss for—" she shook her head, "I mean thanks for yesterday."

They both laughed nervously.

A tense silence stretched between them, heavy with everything left unsaid.

Jake glanced at his phone, then back at Sarah.

"Guess things are… different now."

Sarah looked up, their eyes meeting for a brief moment.

"Yeah. Different."

Neither moved to break the quiet, both too embarrassed to speak their minds.

But deep down, they both wondered what would happen next.

"Breakfast?" Jake asked.

"Oh, yes! I—I'll get right to it," Sarah said, rushing downstairs.

Just then, Jake's phone rang. It was Jimmy.

"Hey, good morning, bro. What's good?" Jake answered.

"Morning, brother. Come open up the door already," Jimmy replied.

Jake frowned, confused.

"What?"

"Open up your damn door," Jimmy insisted.

A sudden knock echoed through the house.

"Who's that?" Sarah called from the kitchen.

"I'll get it," Jake said, heading down the stairs.

Jake opened the door, and there stood Jimmy, grinning.

"What's for breakfast, homie?" Jimmy asked, stepping inside without waiting for an invite.
