Silence settled over the courtyard as the last of the nobles died an inglorious death under the magic of Violet, Luna and Steelclaw.
That silence was broken when one of the young dragons, the one that was about to be attacked nuzzled up against Violet's side and let out a small keening whine.
Violet turned her large head, craning her neck so as to bring her head in line with the young sky blue dragon. He nuzzled against her foreleg for a moment before pulling back and looking into Violet's eyes.
His own sparkled with vibrant emotions, joy, awe, excitement and a hint of saddness over his dead kin. Yet he remained focused on the large and powerful dragon that had arrived out of knowhere and rescued him and his kin from their captors.
Then the other dragons crowded in around Violet, the made incoherent yips and cry's of excitment as they jumped around and bumped into her legs. They were unable to even reach her belly with the massive size difference between them.
