"Why not just get this over with?" Allias asked Variel while sitting on a bench in the middle of a park. All around them were normal humans going about their day.
"I have no idea what you are talking about," Variel answered.
"I see the way you look at them like they are specks of nothing. You have no love for humans. I'm sure most angels share your sentiment. So, why don't you just kill them all and be done with?" Allias asked, a mocking smile on him as he turned to look at her. Variel on her part did not flinch.
Allias had a reputation in heaven. His tenacious protection to humans was legendary. Many angels have met their demise thinking they could treat human souls in heaven as their personal entertainment.
"Because that would go against father's wish," she answered gingerly. Allias scoffed at that as he averted his eyes to look at a couple of children playing together.
"I think you all are just jealous he gave them free will but gave you all the job to babysit them. It's the reason this war will happen," he sighed, putting his left leg on top of his right one.
"So, what will does heaven want me to do now. Slaughter some pagans? Avert a black hole?"
"The Winchesters have caught wind of some witches playing around with demonic magic. We believe the witches are being used in an effort to break of of the seals. I believe you know of Samhain?" Variel answered, eyes averted.
"Winchesters, huh? I swear it's like those two are the centre of the universe. Everything that will go wrong simply starts with them," Allias complained, massaging his temples. "So, what do you want me to do?"
"We are not confident the Winchesters will stop the witches on time. So, we want you to wipe to the town off the map," Variel was very tense when she said the last sentence and it was for a good reason.
Allias turned towards her, his eyes sharpened dangerously. She furled her wings, ready to escape but a terrible pressure suddenly descended on her. No just her, but the entire Eastern Seaboard simply crashed.
"I... It's orders from the Archangel Micheal!" she cried out, going to her knees simply from the pressure. Time had stopped, forcefully halted from the pressure.
"Then tell my uncle if he wants to do things his way he should come down here and do it. Otherwise, leave me alone to my devices," Allias exhaled and the pressure vanished. Humans went back to their activities none the wiser that they had almost lost their lives en mass. Variel sighed in relief as she felt the pressure recede.
"I'm going away before I kill you Variel. It was a shame though, I liked you," Allias said as he glared at her before vanishing.
Variel wanted to rise from her kneeling position only to lose all strength from her body. She couldn't understand what was happening. All her steel crushing strength simply faded away and what was worse was that she was feeling her grace fading. Panic flooded then, feeling her essential being being erased steadily was like feeling your consciousness being eroded. She wanted to rage at the injustice of it all, her hatred of the Nephilim reaching a new height.
However, just before her angelic Grace was fully eroded away, she suddenly felt it all come back instantly. In her confusion and joy, she didn't hear a tired sigh like gust of wind brush past the park.
...
Allias appeared in Maple Springs in a gust of wind. It was a niche little town, quiet and a perfect place to start a family. That is if you don't see the demonic miasma leaking from it. He felt dirty even stepping in this town. Just then, he raised his eyes, his sight piercing through thousands of miles to the park he was just in, just in time to see Variel get her grace back.
"Chuck!" he sighed in regret. He wanted Variel to spend the rest of her mortal life as a human and experience the terror of being the lowest in the food chain for a while. If she died in between before he changed his mind then it wouldn't matter. Having Chuck meddle even when he had decided to not be the creator of the multiverse but be an author meant Variel was important.
"Welcome, Enforcer," an emotionless voice greeted him. He turned to face the Winchesters' nanny, Castiel. "It is an honour to meet you, sir."
"Honour is mine, soldier of heaven," Allias greeted back. "I expect you have been briefed?"
"Yes. I was about to go evacuated the Winchesters," Castiel stiffly said. In front of him was the most dangerous weapon heaven has ever had, talking to him was nerve wrecking for he was just a common soldier.
"Ah, If it's alright with you, I want to meet the Winchesters," Allias said before teleporting away. Castiel was taken aback by the request before he followed. He appeared in a hotel room with a double bed. Allias had gone to a side table and pulled out a hex bag.
"It appears the two were successful in triggering the witches. They work fast," he said as the bag turned into bubbles. Castiel waa amazes by the power but never dared to comment on it. Allias walked to a chair and set himself comfortable, waiting for the two Winchesters to arrive.
They arrived a few minutes later, the roar of the Impala announcing their arrival. Castiel looked outside, his angelic eyes seeing through the wall and set his eyes on the two brothers. Allias followed him, though he was seeing more. He could see the fate of the two, that is, the fate that they probably would have followed. He knew the two had plot armor thicker than Naruto's, judging them with the fate he saw on them was so misleading it wasn't funny.
In Sam, he could see the demon blood currently surfing. It appeared he had feed before and was already hungry for me. That made him think of Ruby, the current fling of Sam. Perhaps...
Leaving those thoughts for later, he watched in interest as Sam opened the door, laughing at something Dean was saying before he froze. Actually, the demon blood blood in him froze in terror. His eyes darted towards Castiel then towards Allias, his heart skipped a beat only to start beating louder and louder. The demon blood wanted him to run away from there but Dean, right behind him, seeing his stop suddenly, thought it was a playful prank and pushed him in, only to freeze too when he saw them inside. Only, it was only for a short duration as he recognized Castiel.
"Damn! You scared the shit out of me," he said to Castiel, relieved. "Sam, this is Castiel, the angel I told you about." He then turned towards Allias, frown forming. "Him I don't know."
Sam, hearing the introduction, calmed down somewhat as he went to shake the hand of Castiel. Allias was amused to see him acting like a fan boy in front of Castiel meanwhile the demon blood was retreating to the deepest part of his body, trying to hide from his sight.
"Sam Winchester," Castiel said, shaking his hand intriguingly. "The boy with the demon blood in him. I'm glad to see you have stopped your extra carrichlar activities." Castiel was clasping Sam's hand with both hands, ready to smite the poor bloke.
"Who's the pretty boy?" Dean asked Castiel who turned to look at Allias. He was about to answer but Allias raised his hand, signalling him to be quiet. Dean was surprised when Castiel obedient stepped to the side.
"Dean Winchester and Sam Winchester. Glad to put the face to the names," Allias chuckled, criss crossing his legs. "Your breakout from hell rose a hell of a ruckus, had to kill whole lots of demon from here to Africa due to the stunt." The two brothers were lost, looking at each other for a second.
"Name's Allias, I am what heaven calls when they want a job done with the most prejudice," Allias introduced himself. The brothers frowned at that.
"And what's and angel of your repertoire doing on a small town like this?" Sam asked.
"Well, you boys have stumbled upon the breakage of one of Lucifer's cage's seals. Heaven doesn't want that so they sent me, the nuclear option as a deterrent and also a message towards Lilith of my involvement from now on. You see, I have a reputation and they are staking upon it to scare the demons from going on, only for a little while," Allias answered patiently.
"Um, and what exactly is heaven's nuke going to do here, exactly?" Dean asked, narrowing his eyes. Allias looked at him like he was mentally challenged.
"He means he is here to destroy the town," Sam said, making Dean turn to him sharply, before turning back towards Allias.
"You can't do that!" he barked, only to turn towards Castiel. "He can't do that! You can kill a thousand lives just because you don't like an outcome!"
"Impotent rage isn't going to help you here, Dean Winchester," Allias chuckled before he heaved himself up. Dean turned to him, fists clenched looking like he was ready to punch him. "But, I admit I am curious about you two. So, I would like to make a wager with both of you!" Everyone in the room was surprised by this.
"Sir, this is highly..." Castiel wanted to say only for Allias to purse his fingers and his mouth simply sealed shut, that is, became smooth, unbroken skin where his mouth was. The two Winchesters were shocked by the turn of events, looking at Allias with more wariness now.
"What kind of wager?" Sam asked.
"It's quite simple. You defeat wherever this witch cult is without Samhain being summoned and you win. However, if Samhain is summoned then I will destroy this entire city. Are the terms acceptable?" Allias answered, a soft smile on his face.
"Who's Samhain?" Dean asked.
"Oh, one of the worst. A demon that revels in necromancy, grows strong with it. Releasing him means one seal has been broken and one of hell's generals is lose. In fact, I will even give you an advantage. The ritual must be done before midnight of Halloween. Now, do you think you will lose with the information I've given you?"
The brothers looked at each other, communication wordlessly before turning towards Allias. The resolve in their eyes made him smile.
"We have a deal," Dean said as he took Allias hand and gave it a firm handshake. Sam did the same.
"Lovely. Right, then, I'll leave you boys to your hunt. Best of luck," Allias chirped before teleporting away.
