As Maximilian and Evangeline's eyes fell upon the spectacle beyond the glass of the control room, they were left flabbergasted, neither of them uttering a word.
The very spaceship that Maximilian had seen in his memories was in front of them, lying at the centre of a thousand-kilometre-wide crater at an angle of about sixty degrees. Its lower half was pierced into the ground. The horizontal arms of the plus-shaped structure stretched to both sides as far as the eye could see. As for the vertical part, even though the crater was over fifty kilometres deep and half of the spaceship lay even deeper, one half of the vertical section was piercing through the grey mist high in the air.
Naturally, it was covered in thick layers of dust, and several of its parts were buried beneath rocks and debris.
