The kitchen occupied the entire left side of the room.
A marble island nearly the size of my old bedroom stood in the center, surrounded by expensive-looking stools. Stainless steel appliances were built directly into the walls, and cabinets stretched all the way to the ceiling. Behind them, another wall of glass overlooked the backyard, where I could already see part of the swimming pool shimmering under the sunlight.
I slowly turned in a circle.
"Damn..." I said with a grin. "You weren't kidding."
We moved further into the living room. I glanced toward the kitchen and walked over, pulling open the fridge. It was completely full, fresh vegetables, meat, dairy, everything stacked neatly and looking recently stocked.
"I had them refilled while we were on the way," Carrie said, walking up behind me.
"Good. So we won't die of starvation."
