Chapter 84 (Part 15)
Fear changed people.
Not ordinary fear.
Not the fear of failure.
Not the fear of pain.
But the kind of fear that appeared when someone finally realized
they were no longer in control.
Right now
Darian Mendis understood that feeling perfectly.
The Hand Around His Throat
The warehouse trembled slightly.
Dust drifted through broken light beams overhead.
And in the center of the destruction
Alok held Darian off the ground with one hand.
Effortlessly.
Darian's fingers dug into Alok's wrist desperately.
Trying to pry himself free.
Impossible.
The pressure around his throat tightened slightly.
Not enough to kill.
Enough to remind him how close death really was.
His instincts screamed.
Run.
Escape.
Survive.
But his body couldn't move.
Because the eyes staring into him
weren't human anymore.
Gold and violet mixed together like clashing stars inside darkness.
Ancient.
Cold.
Hungry.
The Fear of Understanding
For the first time in years
Darian stopped thinking like a gang leader.
Stopped thinking like a predator.
And thought like prey.
What… are you…?
That question echoed through his mind repeatedly.
Not metaphorically.
Literally.
Because no human teenager should possess this kind of strength.
No normal person could radiate this pressure.
Even breathing near Alok felt difficult now.
The pendant burned brighter beneath his shirt.
And every pulse felt alive.
Watching.
Judging.
Rihan Sees the Change
"…Alok."
Rihan's voice sounded uncertain now.
Careful.
Not because he feared Darian.
Because he feared what Alok might do next.
The atmosphere around him felt unstable.
Dangerous.
Like a single wrong word could break something permanently.
Alok slowly turned his head slightly.
Just enough to acknowledge Rihan's voice.
That brief movement allowed Rihan to see it clearly.
The change.
His eyes.
His expression.
Even his posture felt different now.
Less human.
More… absolute.
Rihan swallowed hard.
"…you got your sister back already."
No response.
"…Alok."
Finally
the pressure around Darian's throat loosened slightly.
Enough for him to breathe again.
He coughed violently as Alok released him.
THUD—!!
His body crashed onto the concrete floor.
The gang members watching from afar remained completely frozen.
None of them dared move.
Because instinctively
they already understood.
If they interfered
they would die.
The Broken Door
Alok walked past Darian slowly.
Toward the locked storage room.
Each step echoed through the warehouse.
Heavy.
Final.
The metal door stood in front of him.
Chains wrapped around the handles.
A thick lock securing it shut.
Alok stared at it silently for a moment.
Then
his hand touched the chain.
CRACK—!!
The metal snapped instantly.
The lock shattered.
The door slowly opened inward.
Darkness waited inside.
Then
small trembling eyes looked up at him.
"…b-brother…?"
Alok froze.
Just for a second.
And in that second
something human returned to his expression.
Agata Fanando
Agata Fanando sat against the wall, hands tied loosely, tears visible on her face.
Scared.
Exhausted.
But alive.
The moment she saw him
she broke completely.
"BROTHER—!!"
She ran toward him immediately.
Alok caught her carefully before she could fall.
Her body trembled violently against him.
"You came… you actually came…"
Her voice shattered between sobs.
"I thought… I thought…"
Alok remained silent for a moment.
Then slowly placed his hand on her head.
"…I'm here now."
Simple words.
But enough.
Agata cried harder.
Because deep down
she already knew.
The person standing here now
was not entirely the same brother who left home earlier that night.
The Price of Weakness
Behind them
Darian slowly stood again.
Blood ran from his mouth.
His breathing uneven.
But his eyes remained locked on Alok.
Not with hatred.
Not entirely.
With realization.
"You know…" he said quietly.
"…this is why weak people suffer."
Rihan glared immediately.
"Shut up."
But Darian continued speaking.
Slowly.
Like someone intentionally dragging a blade across another person's mind.
"If you were stronger earlier…"
A faint smile formed.
"…none of this would've happened."
Silence.
The words hit perfectly.
Because they were true.
And the worst wounds
were always caused by truth.
Alok didn't turn around.
But the pendant pulsed once.
Violently.
The Hidden Betrayal
Darian wiped blood from his chin slowly.
"…you think we found your house by luck?"
That made Alok stop moving.
Rihan's expression darkened instantly.
"…what are you talking about?"
Darian laughed softly.
"You still don't understand."
A pause.
Then
"You were betrayed."
The warehouse became completely silent.
Even the rain outside felt distant now.
Agata looked up slowly.
Rihan froze.
Alok finally turned around.
Slowly.
Dangerously slowly.
Darian smiled faintly.
"Someone close to you gave us information."
Another pause.
"Your routines."
"Your address."
"Your family."
"Everything."
Rihan clenched his fists immediately.
"…who?"
Darian's smile widened slightly.
But he shook his head.
"No."
A quiet chuckle followed.
"That part is more interesting if you discover it yourself."
The Beginning of Distrust
Something changed inside Alok at that moment.
Small.
Invisible.
But irreversible.
Because betrayal from enemies was normal.
Expected.
Meaningless.
But betrayal from someone close
was different.
That kind of wound didn't disappear.
It evolved.
Slowly poisoning everything around it.
Trust.
Friendship.
Emotion.
All of it.
Alok lowered his gaze slightly.
Thinking.
Reconstructing memories.
Conversations.
Expressions.
Tiny details he once ignored.
And somewhere deep inside him
a dangerous idea quietly began taking shape.
"If people can betray you that easily…
then trusting them was the real mistake."
The End of the King
Darian watched him carefully.
Then smiled.
"…there it is."
Rihan frowned.
"…what?"
Darian's eyes remained on Alok.
"That look."
A pause.
"The moment someone stops being naïve."
The warehouse lights flickered again.
The atmosphere felt colder now.
Different.
Like something important had quietly ended tonight.
Not the fight.
Something else.
Something inside Alok.
The New Beginning
Outside the warehouse
rain poured heavily across Castrone.
The city continued living normally.
Cars moved.
People laughed.
Lights glowed behind apartment windows.
Completely unaware
that somewhere inside the darkness
a boy had begun changing into something dangerous.
Alok stepped out of the warehouse slowly with Agata beside him.
Rihan followed silently.
None of them spoke.
Because words felt meaningless now.
The pendant pulsed softly beneath Alok's shirt.
Not violently.
Not aggressively.
Almost calmly.
As if satisfied.
And far away
inside another country
Ceya suddenly opened her eyes in the middle of the night.
Her breathing uneven.
Her chest hurting for reasons she couldn't understand.
Then
a single tear rolled down her face.
And somewhere deep inside her broken mind
a voice whispered quietly.
"He's changing."
