Chapter 44 - AfterMath

Christopher Ariel stood inside an office building that towered over regular ones. Seeing as his office was located at the top, it was safe to assume that this Office belonged to him since he, after all, owned OS Corp.

In his hands, he held a newspaper, and as he glanced through the headlines and pages, he gave keen attention to a particular article.

The events of Night City passed by like the seasons changing. The student council gave their full report on what transpired during the Gala party, which concluded in a loss, yet they still managed to get some useful information out of it.

Smoke's, who had been captured, has now been taken into custody by the alliance and is being interrogated. Princess Lenora and Riot gave their own side of the story to the alliance so it could help further boost the investigation.

According to Riot, the Ring leader, who wore a harlequin mask, referred to himself as Jester, and this so-called figure had claimed to be a member of an organisation called 'The Dark world', the name seemed ominous as it carried a hint of eeriness around it.

"So how did we do for our first mission… Father?" Os sat across the room wearing his harlequin mask as Savier stood behind him. He took off the mask and presented a grin in front of Christopher, feeling confident about his performance, at least that's what he thought.

Christopher remained silent as he shifted his gaze from the news article towards his foolish yet proud son.

"Am I supposed to be impressed?" Christopher asked in a cold tone, shattering os pride; the words were like a sharp blade piercing through his chest, his confidence vanished in an instant, his prideful composure was replaced with seething rage, his expression twisted into. That of pure anger.

"The assignment was to kidnap the princess and use her as a bargaining chip to control the king, and you couldn't even manage that, and to top it all, one of your so-called teammates was killed, and the other was captured by the alliance…. Honestly, why did I entrust such an important mission to such a failure of a son?" Christopher said with his icy, sharp tone that had cut through Os' mind, even though he was angry, he couldn't dare lift a finger as he watched his father quietly work towards his desk and take a seat on his chair.

"But we did manage to catch the attention of the nation, so there's that," Savier said as she reminded Christopher about some of their victories. For a moment, Christopher glared at her, but he soon quickly lost interest as he turned his back on the two and faced the window.

"As painful as it may sound your right," Christopher said with a hint of irritation in his tone as he was forced to recognise their achievements.

"Your next assignment is to capture the newly awakened vampire." Christopher as he dished out his order.

"Wait, you don't mean!" Savier said in disbelief

"Yes, Tristan," Christopher replied as he confirmed her worries.

"The same Tristan who is the brother to the Strongest index in Exsistence…Blanc Noir." As Christopher uttered that phrase, it sent a chill down Os and Savier's bodies. They looked terrified as they stared at Christopher in disbelief.

"How…how are you not dead?" Os asked as he staggered out of his seat; he was obviously terrified of something.

"You two might not notice it, but I'm currently using a significant amount of mana to keep myself from falling victim to the spell by using a canceling spell," Christopher said as he already looked drained from what he was doing. Beneath him was a magic circle that enveloped a light around him; it was the Cancelling spell that he had cast on himself.

There was a rumor that The Strongest index in existence (Blanc Noir) had created a spell that affected the entire universe. The spell was made so that anyone who calls his full name will be seen as an enemy to him, and their life or soul will either be cursed or taken. It was a truly terrifinging spelled that struck great fear in every single living and non-living entity.

"So, sir, about the mission…" Savier brought up the topic as if she had a few problems with the request; obviously, she would have a complaint, she was just asked to kidnap the younger brother of the most dangerous and most deadly entity in the world.

"Of course I'm not asking you to just kidnap him like that, gain his trust and try to recruit him into 'Dark world'" Christopher said as he crossed his leg, and viewed the city with an evil grin.

Savier no longer complained, but both she and Os were still overwhelmed with fear and worry.

"We'll be taking our leave, Father," Os said as he and Savier bowed their head in respect and then left.

"Where am I? What am I doing?" Tristan's mind wandered as he seemed to be stuck in an abyss.

"Kid, you've really gone and done it now… I can't believe you've evolved." That familiar voice that helped him control his aura for the first Time now echoed in Tristan's head once more.

"It's you!, The voice that helped me before." Tristan yelled as he stared at his figure that was completely in a blue light.

"Nice to see you again, kid. My spirit form is all you can see, but I'm here, and by the way, you can call me Raven for now." Raven said as he formally introduced himself.

"Nice to meet you, Mr Raven, but could you explain where we are?" Tristan asked as he stared at the Abyss.

"First of all, you can call me Raven without honorifics, and secondly, this abyss is your heart, or should I say your soul?, I don't actually know, but it's somewhere between those two. I don't really know." Raven said as he remained stumped. Tristan was both devastated and shocked at how this could be his Soul. His expression quickly turned noticeably sour as he looked down. Raven quickly noticed this and appeared behind Tristan.

"Don't worry about it, this inner world will change as your mentality and Point of view in life will change. Right now, you have more things to worry about."

And like being pulled from a deep sleep, Tristan's eyes shot wide open and were met with the gazes of scientists who held surgical Knives above his body.
