Chapter 23 - MEETING

Bóveda - EDIFICIO TOKAI - 23:30 h.

Daz, Nate, and Fubuki feel the ground begin to tremble, the shaking becoming increasingly steady. It's as if it might collapse at any moment, but even with all the tremors, the cube remains motionless, completely still, as if nothing can affect it. Nate looks at Daz, a little disappointed. They've tried everything to move the cube, even using the supposed special claw they were given, but it was useless. Daz slumps to the ground, stressed and exhausted. "We've tried everything. How are we going to move that thing?" Fubuki watches them silently for a moment, then steps directly toward the cube, raises her arms, and it all begins to float. Nate understands quickly. "Hey, hey, what are you trying to do?" There's no answer. He tries to concentrate all his psychic power, but it's useless; the cube won't budge. Fubuki falls to her knees, her hands on the ground. "Damn it, where is that idiot?"

While the vault team was stressing about trying to move that cube, I'd finally found a working elevator. I rode up, sitting with my legs stretched out, humming one of the many songs I listen to when I'm alone and thinking. "Kill this fate that tries to tell you what you should be" - FLOOR 18. "I scream into the void" - FLOOR 19. "Let someone try to stop me!" - FLOOR 20. The elevator stopped, and with a metallic clang, the doors slowly opened, revealing several security guards waiting at the door, guns drawn and ready to fire. But when the elevator doors opened fully, a jolt reverberated through the hall, hurling them against the walls. Metal buckled, shell casings rolled across the floor, and silence returned. I knew I had to hurry and not waste any time; besides, I was already close.

In the vault, Daz tried to approach Fubuki to calm her down when they suddenly heard hurried footsteps. In a desperate attempt to impress her, Daz stood in front of her with his arms raised as if he could protect her, and Nate pulled a pair of special gloves from his suitcase that electrocuted on contact. Fubuki stood up and, with her psychic power, resonated throughout the room and ripped the metal door off its hinges. When the footsteps grew louder, she hurled the door like a projectile... but suddenly, the same door was flung back and crashed into the cube without causing a scratch. "I'm here, the one the children were calling for." She had finally reached the vault. Nate gave a faint smile; Daz, red with embarrassment, covered his face with his hand, and Fubuki shoved Daz aside and walked straight toward me. Thinking I would react with kindness and grace, I only received a slap. "That's what you get for taking so long, idiot." I'd never been slapped by a woman before, and I have to admit it hurt quite a bit, so I just raised my hands. "Yeah, yeah..." I said calmly. "It won't happen again."

Fubuki solemnly closed her eyes and began explaining the advantages of joining the Blizzard Group. "Since you agreed to join the Blizzard Group, you need to know the benefits and not just the simple Ben..." When she opened her eyes, she realized she was talking to herself. I was already in a corner, chatting with Nate and Daz as if nothing had happened. "At least ten of you have the nerve to listen to me until the end!" she shouted, frowning. I calmly turned my head to look at her. "Fubuki, I already know all the benefits, but we don't have time right now." I refocused on the guys. "So... did you try touching the cube directly?"

I sighed softly. "Okay, here's the plan: I'll try to move it with my hands."

Daz shrugged, as if nothing mattered; anyway, there was nothing to lose. "Whatever, we've already tried everything."

Fubuki crossed her arms. "Wait a second, at least you know what you're touching."

I looked at her. "A cube."

"And since when are cubes black and motionless?"

Nate leaned forward. "She's right."

"Well, it's late and I'm tired, let's finish this and get out of here." I approached the cube. With each step, the atmosphere grew denser, as if something invisible were pressing on my chest. I inhaled deeply, exhaled slowly, and finally reached out and…
