Chapter 99 - Kuyali

"Fight me, Ur! Let's settle this once and for all!"

A fight, huh? Sure!"

Two weeks had passed since the last mission.

Ever since Natsu had accidentally discovered how strong Ur really was, he'd latched onto him completely. Just like now, whenever Ur showed up at the guild, Natsu would inevitably come charging over, brimming with enthusiasm, and issue a challenge without fail.

However, every time, Ur's response was always the same.

"Hee—ah! Sorry, Natsu. I'm not in great shape today. Let's do it another time." Ur said lazily, his eyes half-lidded as he let out a long yawn.

"Ohhh, I see! Then there's nothing I can do. I'll come find you again tomorrow!" Natsu said, slamming his fist into his palm as if suddenly enlightened.

Ur: "..."

He really wanted to say, "It'd be best if you didn't come looking for me for the next year or two because I won't have time at all!"

Unfortunately, Natsu didn't give him the chance. He had already left with Happy in tow. Judging by the direction they went, he was probably off to get beaten up by Gildarts again.

A moment of silence for Gildarts.

Ever since Natsu started pestering him, this was the first time Ur had ever felt thankful that he wasn't that strong yet. If his strength had truly reached Gildarts's level, Natsu probably wouldn't even bother announcing his challenge anymore. He'd find some random place and try to ambush him instead.

That said, Ur really hadn't been lying. Turning Natsu down wasn't just an excuse. For mages, magic power and mental strength were needed to remain in balance. Their bodies would start exhibiting abnormal symptoms once the balance was disrupted.

Ur was a textbook example.

Invincible Passive System

Host: Wei Yi (Ur)

Passive Abilities:Void Hunger, Evil Equilibrium, Perseverance, Way of the Wanderer

Talent:Lava Beast Armor

Health: 70

Magic Power: 683

Mental Strength: 36

Magic Resistance: 2%

Defense: 4%

Because the passive ability Lava Body had broken through the first physical limiter of the human body, Ur's Void Hunger was able to function even more effectively. After devouring those monsters, his Health had increased by a full 20 points.

In theory, an increase in Health should have meant better physical fitness and a healthier, stronger body. But reality was the exact opposite.

Not only did Ur not feel healthier, but his head was splitting with pain. All of this was due to the severe imbalance between his magic power and mental strength.

With nearly 700 points of magic power, his mental strength would need to reach at least around seventy to achieve balance. But right now, he was short by nearly half. Not only did Ur feel less healthy, but his head felt like it was about to split open. All of which stemmed from the massive imbalance between his magic power and mental strength.

The only consolation was that Ur wasn't quite as drained as Gildarts yet.

[(╯‵□′)╯︵┴─┴]

Damn it!

That's not something to be thankful for at all!

MMP!

That bastard is seriously infuriatingly enviable!

Ur's mood instantly soured.

Why?

Why did that middle-aged uncle have so many admirers, while he didn't have a single one?

Dragging his groggy body over to the counter, Ur ordered a mug of beer and started drinking by himself.

Just then, Levy slowly walked up to him and asked with concern, "Ur, are you feeling okay? Should I go with you to the mage hospital?"

"No need," Ur refused decisively. "I know my own body. It'll be fine after a while."

"Oh… okay then," Levy said, her voice tinged with disappointment. "I'll go train then?"

"Mm." Ur nodded slightly.

Levy glanced at Ur a few more times before slowly turning and leaving.

Ur continued drinking at the counter.

About an hour later.

Ur: "???"

Why does it feel like I just missed something important?

Ah, whatever. It was probably nothing major. The most urgent thing right now was figuring out how to raise his mental strength.

Buzz… Buzz...

Just as Ur was considering whether to try his luck with the lottery system and draw a mental-type talent, a low buzz of chatter suddenly spread through the guild. Puzzled, Ur turned around with some effort and glanced back.

A girl with long purple hair had appeared at the entrance of the guild.

"May I ask what brings you here?" Macao stepped forward and asked.

"Hello, my name is Kuyali. I came mainly to thank you for rescuing my father," the purple-haired girl said politely, her voice gentle.

"Your father?" Macao paused.

"Yes. My father is Singer Degri. I discovered his involvement with a dark guild a long time ago, but I couldn't stop him. In the end, I had no choice but to seek your help."

Hearing this, Macao immediately realized that she was the mysterious girl who had posted the request. He hurriedly replied, "You're far too polite. This was simply our guild's duty. There's really no need for you to come personally to thank us."

"Oh, right. This is just a small token of my appreciation. Please don't refuse," Kuyali said, holding out a leather case.

Yes.

It looked exactly like the one that had once held 10,000,000 J.

Macao: "..."

"Would you like something to drink?"
