Makoto woke up lazily the next morning to the loud noises of three little monsters running toward his bed.
THUMP-THUMP-THUMP-THUMP! The sound of small feet thundering down the hallway was his first warning. The second was the bedroom door being thrown open with a loud BANG, making both him and Ayane jolt awake.
"ATTACK!" Asuka bellowed like a sleep-rumpled Valkyrie leading the charge. She was wearing mismatched pajamas with a piece of toast coated in strawberry jam clutched in her fist like a grenade.
"Baka dada, wake up!" Yumi, armed with a plastic spoon, squeaked right behind Asuka. Her gray hair was a messy halo around her head.
And bringing up the rear like a silent, disapproving observer of the chaos was Aiko. She simply stood in the doorway with judgment written all over her face, as if to say, "I am not associated with these delinquents."
Before Makoto could even register what was happening, Asuka executed a perfect flying leap, landing squarely in the middle of his stomach. The air was driven from his lungs in a pained "OOF!"
"PAPA! MAMA-YANE! BREAKFAST!" Asuka roared, bouncing on his bladder for good measure.
Ayane, her eyes still blurry with sleep, just groaned and pulled a pillow over her head. "Five more minutes, my little Gundam… Mama needs to recharge her beam cannon…"
"Wake up already, lazy poke," he kissed Ayane's forehead, and then lifted Asuka up into his arms. "Thanks for waking me up, dear," he winked at Aiko and Yumi.
Asuka giggled with joy when she was lifted into the air. She wrapped her small but surprisingly strong arms around his neck, the sticky jam from her toast immediately transferring to his hair. "Up, up, Papa!"
Yumi, seeing that violence had been rewarded with affection, abandoned her spoon and scrambled onto the bed. Without asking for a hug, she just climbed onto Makoto's back like he was a mountain. "Giddy-up, fat horse! To the kitchen!" she commanded, kicking his sides with her tiny feet.
Aiko, seeing that the chaos had reached its climax, finally decided to enter the room. She walked over to the side of the bed and looked up at the still lump under the pillow that was Ayane.
Then she reached out her small hand and gave the pillow a gentle poke. "Mama-Yane? Breakfast is getting cold. Mama-Mika is waiting. She doesn't like to wait, you know?" The subtle threat in her voice was unmistakable.
From under the pillow, Ayane let out a long groan. "Ugh, fine, I'm coming. The tiny yandere has spoken."
"Let's go, then," Makoto lifted Aiko up onto his shoulders, and then took Yumi and Asuka on his right and his left. "You won't have anything left for breakfast if you keep sleeping, Ayane."
"I'M UP, I'M UP!" Ayane's voice was a muffled, grumpy protest from the bed as she finally and reluctantly stirred. "God, this family has no respect for a working mother's beauty sleep."
Makoto emerged from the bedroom, looking like a human jungle gym for a trio of beautiful little monsters: Aiko was a regal queen perched on his shoulders, her small hands resting gently on top of his head. Yumi was a possessive gremlin clinging to his left arm with a death grip. And Asuka was a boisterous Valkyrie, her legs wrapped around his right waist, her sticky hands leaving a trail of jam across his back.
The table was already set, the coffee was brewing, and the air was filled with the delicious smell of bacon and eggs. Mika was at the stove flipping pancakes with practiced ease. Mafuyu was at the table with a happy smile on her face, patiently cutting a piece of toast into tiny, bite-sized stars for Ren, who was watching her with adoration.
Standing in the doorway, a grumpy storm cloud in a Pikachu onesie, was Yuna. She glared at the scene, then looked at Makoto and the three little monsters. "Took you long enough. Your breakfast is getting cold."
"I'm surprised that that Pikachu pajama still fits you, Yuna," Makoto grinned as he slowly put the children into their seats.
Yuna's face flushed deep red with embarrassment. "It's not a Pikachu, it's a limited edition Mimikyu onesie, you uncultured swine!" she snapped, pulling the hood self-consciously over her head. "And it still fits because I'm not a fat, bloated pig like you!"
"Let's go and buy some new sets of family pajamas later, too. I want some dinosaurs. Are there any other ideas?" Makoto just chuckled along.
"Dinosaurs?" Ayane said, finally emerging from the bedroom, her hair a magnificent mess. "Yes! A T.rex for me, obviously. I'm the apex predator."
"No!" Yumi shouted from her high chair, banging her tiny fist on the tray. "I'm a T-Rex! Mama-Yuna is a Triceratops because she's fat!"
"I AM NOT FAT!" Yuna shrieked, her voice cracking.
"I think a nice matching set of bunnies would be lovely," Mika said, her voice a calm to the chaos as she placed a golden pancake on Aiko's plate. Aiko nodded. "Bunnies are good," she agreed before delicately picking up her fork.
"Oh, a nice soft bear theme would be sweet," Mafuyu added, her eyes shining. "For Ren and the new baby."
"GUNDAMS!" Asuka roared, the new idea striking her like a lightning bolt. "I WANT FAMILY GUNDAM!"
The breakfast was just a chaotic, perfectly normal morning in their abnormal family. As they finished their breakfast and fed the kids, Makoto started gathering the dishes and taking them to the sink.
"So… Ayane and I will drive the kids to visit their grandparents. I guess we will have some time for our lunch before the anniversary. Then we will come back and pick them up at 8PM."
"Perfect," Mika was already on her phone, her thumbs flying across the screen. "That gives Mafuyu and me plenty of time to prepare the hotel room."
Yuna, who was trying to wipe a smear of syrup off of Yumi's face, looked up with a predatory glint in her eyes. "Oh, we're going to prepare it properly, alright."
Mafuyu, quietly packing a bag of snacks and toys for the kids, offered him a shy smile. "Have fun, you two," Then she turned to Ayane. "And please don't break him before it's my turn, Ayane-chan."
The four kids, hearing the word "grandparents," erupted in a chorus of excited shrieks.
"GRAM-MA!" Asuka roared.
"Cookies!" Yumi demanded.
Aiko just clapped her hands, a rare display of showing her excitement. And Ren… he just gave him a sweet, happy smile, a signature of his mom.

The moment Makoto's car pulled out of the driveway, a strange calm descended upon the house. The noise of their children was gone, leaving a quiet, echoing void in its place.
Yuna stood in the doorway with her arms crossed, a familiar grumpy pout on her face. "Finally, some peace and quiet." But her gaze lingered on the empty driveway for a second too long, a flicker of something that looked like a mother's worry crossing her eyes.
Mika, who was sipping a cup of freshly brewed coffee at the kitchen table, just smiled. "Now we can focus on our own tasks, without any distractions."
Mafuyu, humming to herself as she washed the last of the breakfast dishes, offered a gentle smile. "They'll be fine, Yuna, Ayane-chan's parents are very good with them."
The three of them stood there in the quiet, clean, and suddenly empty house. Three women united by a single, completely insane man. Three mothers sharing a life they had never imagined for themselves.
"Right," Yuna clapped her hands together, making a sharp sound that echoed through the room. "Let's go. We have a hotel room to decorate. I have a very specific vision for our party."
The shopping mall was a familiar, chaotic battlefield, but without Makoto and the children, the experience was completely different. It was almost like a normal girl's shopping trip.
Yuna was still a force of nature, a small gray-haired general directing her troops with efficiency. But her usual manic energy was tempered by a new maturity. She wasn't just grabbing the most expensive, most garish things she could find. She was comparing prices and checking quality.
She was being... responsible. "Makoto works so hard," she thought, a small frown on her face as she looked at a ridiculously expensive set of silk lingerie. "I shouldn't just waste his money." The thought was so foreign to her usual selfish tsundere instincts that it nearly gave her whiplash.
Mika, on the other hand, was softer. The serene, calculating mask was still there, but the edges had worn down, replaced by something warmer and more genuine.
She was a wife and a mother now. She still had her spreadsheets, her schedules, her five-year plans. But now they were filled with a different kind of data: Playdate schedules, vaccination appointments, and a weekly rotation for who got to sleep with Makoto. It was something she still, to Yuna's furious annoyance, controlled with an iron fist.
"He looked so tired this morning," she thought, her gaze lingering on a display of ergonomic office chairs. "Maybe a new chair would help with his back pain."
And Mafuyu… The terrified, broken woman from four years ago was gone, replaced by someone quiet and confident, yet surprisingly strong. She moved through the mall with a calm, steady grace, her hand resting on her swollen belly.
No longer a victim that need someone to save her, she was now a steady, unwavering pillar of support for all of them. "They're all trying so hard to make him happy," she thought with a fond smile on her face as she watched Yuna and Mika bicker over scented candles.
The thought filled her with warmth and joy. She was part of this chaotic, insane family. And she had never been happier.
They were now in the home goods section, surrounded by fluffy towels and scented soaps, when it happened.
"Oh, look," Mika said, holding up a delicate and overpriced-looking box. "It's a couple's massage oil kit." She looked from the box to Yuna, then to Mafuyu with a mischievous glint in her eyes.
Yuna's face exploded in a splotchy blush. "P-Pervert! We're not getting that! It's… it's disgusting!" But she was already reaching for it, her fingers brushing against Mika's.
"It does look interesting," Mafuyu said with a quiet curiosity in her voice, despite a deep blush spreading from her neck to the tips of her ears. "You should get it. Maybe we should get the edible body paint, too, for dessert."
Yuna snatched the box with a grin. "Fine, but I'm in charge of the application. And I will go first this afternoon." She glared at Mika with challenge in her eyes.
Mika just smiled, calm and calculated all at once. "Of course, Yuna-chan. The main wife always gets to go first."
The truce, fragile as it was, was over. The game had begun again.
