Dydra's eyes widened, shock blooming across her face as though the very air had shifted.
Had she truly heard that?
Or had the wind played tricks on her ears?
"What did you say?" she whispered, her voice fragile with disbelief.
"I do not think your ears are defaulted," Leonard replied flatly, as though nothing unusual had been said at all. He calmly cut a piece of meat and brought it to his lips, utterly unbothered.
"B–but why would you say that, my lord?" she asked, still staring at him, bewilderment written plainly across her features.
"Weren't you curious about how a ball looks?" he said, raising a brow slightly.
"I was…" she admitted, her voice softer now. "But I never expected you to ask me to attend with you. A nobleman and a maid?" She shook her head quickly, anxiety creeping in. "If word got out, your reputation would be tarnished!"
Leonard did not react immediately.
