"Hmph. The authority of death was mine to begin with," Thanatos replied coldly.
"Besides, I am Death itself."
"All death within this world falls under my control."
"Oh?"
"Really?"
Arthur wore an amused expression.
"I don't believe you."
Then he smirked slightly.
"Let me guess…"
"Were you driven into Britain by other gods?"
As Arthur's understanding of space deepened, he became increasingly aware that numerous subspaces existed throughout the world.
Much like the hidden realms and blessed lands spoken of in Eastern cultivation myths.
They existed all across the world, merely under different names.
These places remained attached to the world while simultaneously separated from it.
Without locating the proper spatial passage, entering them was impossible.
Thus, Arthur speculated that if beings like Death existed within the Underworld, then other worlds or dimensions likely housed different gods as well.
Looking at Thanatos's suddenly ugly expression—
Arthur immediately knew he guessed correctly.
So Death had actually been driven here by other gods.
Thanatos instantly flew into rage from embarrassment.
"Insolent mortal!"
"You have offended divine authority!"
"Prepare yourself for divine punishment!"
As the words fell, Thanatos condensed death power into the wand made from Voldemort's ribs.
The next moment—
the wand transformed into an enormous scythe.
Seeing this, Arthur pulled out the Dark Moon Greatsword and began charging power into it.
At the same time, he casually complained,
"So Death really does use a scythe."
"I honestly thought you'd use a wand too."
Thanatos sneered.
"What would a mortal understand?"
"My scythe is my wand."
The moment those words ended, the scythe in Thanatos's hand fully formed.
Dragging the massive weapon behind him, Thanatos charged directly toward Arthur.
Just as he reached striking distance—
Arthur's Dark Moon Greatsword finished charging.
Arthur swung with full force.
Thanatos blocked the attack head-on.
However, before Thanatos could react further—
a massive sword beam infused with death power and moonlit frost erupted violently from the Dark Moon Greatsword.
Caught completely off guard, Thanatos took the entire charged attack directly.
His body flew backward and smashed straight into the Gaunt House behind him.
For a moment, dust exploded everywhere, obscuring the entire mansion from sight.
Arthur waved his hand casually.
A powerful gust scattered the dust immediately.
Truthfully, he had wanted to complain about this for a while already.
Voldemort bringing hundreds of people to live inside a mediocre-sized mansion was one thing.
But not a single one of them had bothered cleaning the surrounding area at all.
The place was filthy enough to trigger Arthur's cleanliness obsession.
Once the dust settled, the Gaunt House remained silent.
Arthur shouted toward the ruins,
"Alright, stop pretending."
"Get out already."
"I know you weren't injured at all."
"Don't tell me you're waiting for me to approach so you can launch a sneak attack."
"If that's your plan, I suggest giving up."
The mansion was disgustingly dirty.
Arthur genuinely had no interest in walking over there.
Seeing Arthur fail to take the bait, Thanatos simply stepped out from the ruined house.
He casually brushed the dust and frost from his body.
Thanatos looked at Arthur with contempt.
"I truly don't understand what you were thinking."
"You actually tried using death power against me, the God of Death."
"Although your death power is somewhat unique…"
"Wanting to injure me with it is still far too naive."
Arthur shrugged casually.
"You never know until you try."
"Since death power doesn't work…"
"How about this instead?"
The moment the words fell—
Arthur vanished.
In the next instant, he appeared directly behind Thanatos.
Scarlet Rot surged violently across the Dark Moon Greatsword as Arthur swung once more.
This time, however, Thanatos was prepared.
Not only did he block Arthur's strike with the scythe—
he also erected a barrier of death power to defend against Arthur's energy attacks.
Unfortunately for him—
Thanatos misjudged Arthur's methods once again.
The Scarlet Rot flowed directly from the collision point between sword and scythe.
Then it rapidly spread along the scythe itself—
eventually reaching Thanatos's body.
Thanatos immediately felt the strength within this body rapidly draining away.
The Scarlet Rot was feeding upon his power to grow.
Moments later—
beautiful yet sinister scarlet flowers bloomed one after another across Thanatos's body.
Seeing this, Thanatos was forced to widen the death-power channel he previously created within Voldemort's body.
Allowing far greater quantities of death power to pass through—
Thanatos then directly killed the Scarlet Rot flowers growing upon him.
Arthur raised an eyebrow slightly.
That method of cutting off Scarlet Rot at its root already carried traces of a conceptual ability.
What Thanatos just did was essentially assign the concept of death directly onto Scarlet Rot itself.
He erased the "life" of Scarlet Rot entirely at the conceptual level.
Thus, Scarlet Rot could no longer continue spreading—
because it had already "died."
It seemed these gods residing within subspaces truly possessed some impressive abilities after all.
At the very least—
Arthur currently couldn't accomplish something like that.
Still, Arthur didn't find this troublesome in the slightest.
After all, Thanatos was merely possessing Voldemort's body.
Its true body had never descended personally.
Furthermore—
Thanatos's combat skill had clearly deteriorated after spending who-knew-how-long hiding inside the Underworld.
Arthur could only describe its fighting style as clumsy.
At most, this simply meant Arthur needed to fight slightly more cautiously.
After only two brief exchanges, Arthur had already completely seen through Thanatos.
Its combat experience was astonishingly rusty.
Unfortunately, Thanatos itself remained completely unaware of this fact.
It was still feeling rather pleased with itself after easily resolving Arthur's previous attack.
Having dealt with the Scarlet Rot, Thanatos swung the now far more powerful death-infused scythe toward Arthur once again.
Arthur raised the Dark Moon Greatsword to block.
Then—
while the two weapons remained locked together—
Thanatos poured even more death power into the scythe.
Under its control, the blade suddenly extended outward and stabbed directly toward Arthur.
Sensing the change instantly, Arthur forcefully knocked the scythe aside before Apparating backward.
Thanatos sneered mockingly.
"Well?"
"How was that second-stage attack I learned from you?"
Arthur nearly laughed out loud.
Using techniques learned from him—
against him?
Arthur genuinely couldn't decide whether Thanatos was naive or simply stupid.
Naturally, he had no intention of correcting the god.
Honestly—
keeping Thanatos this clueless made things much easier for Arthur.
