Chapter 312 - Arthur Goes All Out, and the Battle Nears Its End

Arthur's evaluation of Thanatos's actions could be summarized in two words:

Utterly idiotic.

At this point, Arthur no longer had any interest in continuing this pointless exchange.

He was genuinely worried that Thanatos's stupidity might somehow become contagious.

So—

Arthur decided to get serious.

His right hand formed a sword seal.

Immediately, the Dark Moon Greatsword in Thanatos's grasp responded to its master's call.

A burst of sword light erupted from the blade.

The greatsword violently broke free from Thanatos's hand and flew back toward Arthur.

This time, Arthur didn't take hold of it.

Instead, he altered his hand seals and allowed the Dark Moon Greatsword to attack Thanatos on its own.

Meanwhile, Arthur raised the Death Staff in his left hand.

One spell after another burst forth.

Many originated from the Lands Between.

Others were modified incantations that Arthur had personally improved.

Streams of brilliantly colored magic erupted continuously from the tip of the Death Staff.

To onlookers—

the spectacle resembled magnificent fireworks.

To Thanatos—

it was a nightmare.

The first spell to descend was Star Shower.

Countless icy meteors glowing with blue light rained from the sky like a torrential downpour.

There was simply nowhere to dodge.

Then came Meteorite of Astel.

True to its name, it surged forward with enough force to annihilate everything in its path.

Immediately afterward came the overwhelming torrent of Comet Azur.

Then—

the incantation known as Flame of the Fell God, which Arthur had already transformed into a spell.

A colossal fireball condensed before exploding toward Thanatos.

Within it burned Arthur's three greatest flames.

The moment it approached its target—

it detonated.

An endless sea of fire engulfed the area.

And then came Ranni's Dark Moon.

The deep blue moon descended with chilling majesty.

The instant it struck, a terrifying wave of frost erupted outward.

Even the surrounding space itself was sliced apart.

The shattered and distorted spatial field completely cut off Thanatos's retreat.

At this point, even Apparition had become impossible.

He could only remain where he was—

and continue enduring Arthur's relentless magical bombardment.

And as if that weren't enough—

he also had to deal with the Dark Moon Greatsword's nonstop attacks.

Spell after spell.

Explosion after explosion.

The magic of the Lands Between revealed its full destructive potential in Arthur's hands.

Arthur unleashed every offensive spell he possessed.

By the time he was finished—

the land within a kilometer of Thanatos had visibly sunk lower than the surrounding terrain.

And that was with Arthur intentionally holding back.

Otherwise, Flame of the Fell God alone could have transformed the region into a scorched wasteland stretching for miles.

The spectators watching from afar were completely stunned.

Aside from Melina—

who had already witnessed Arthur's combat abilities before—

everyone stood frozen in disbelief.

Dumbledore turned toward Snape and asked uncertainly,

"Severus…"

"This is the student you taught?"

"Since when did you master this many terrifying spells?"

Snape immediately rolled his eyes.

If he possessed magic like this, why would he ever have followed Voldemort back then?

"Don't forget where Arthur comes from," Snape replied.

"He originates from the ancient and mysterious East."

"Having unusual inheritances is perfectly normal."

Compared to Lucius, who looked completely dumbfounded, Snape adapted to the situation more easily.

After all, he had already become a Glintstone Sorcerer with Arthur's help.

Because of that, he recognized several of the spells Arthur was casting.

Harry, meanwhile, stood there with his mouth hanging open.

He suddenly felt every spell he had ever learned was pathetic.

This—

this was what wizardry was supposed to look like.

Even Hermione was astonished.

This was the first time she had ever witnessed Arthur fighting at full strength.

She had never imagined her cousin could be this powerful.

A moment later—

an overwhelming sense of pride filled her heart.

At that moment, Hermione wanted to shout to the entire world:

Look!

That's my cousin!

The cousin who can do absolutely anything!

Dumbledore, however, still struggled to accept what he was seeing.

The East had magic this powerful?

And none of it required incantations?

He had traveled throughout the East during his younger years.

He had exchanged knowledge with numerous sects and mystical organizations.

How had he never seen anything remotely like this?

And weren't Eastern practitioners supposed to use mystical arts rather than magic?

Looking at Arthur continuously wielding a staff—

how was this supposed to be Eastern cultivation?

Arthur, meanwhile, paid no attention whatsoever to what the spectators were thinking.

After estimating the timing, he decided the bombardment had gone on long enough.

After enduring this many spells, Thanatos should either be dead—

or at least crippled.

Thus, Arthur chose to finish things with one final spell.

Elden Stars.

Golden meteors descended from the heavens.

The spell crashed directly onto Thanatos's location.

A localized earthquake erupted across the region.

Fortunately, before the battle had begun, Arthur had used his mastery of spatial magic to expand and isolate the area surrounding the Gaunt House.

Otherwise, there would never have been enough room for hundreds of Death Eaters and thousands of undead to wage war.

Without that preparation, Muggle military forces would probably have arrived halfway through the battle.

The golden meteor struck the earth.

Dust and debris exploded into the sky.

For a long moment—

nothing moved.

The spectators eventually approached Arthur.

Hermione looked curiously toward the impact site.

"Is it over?"

Arthur extended his spiritual perception.

Within the dust cloud, Thanatos's presence had become incredibly weak.

Like a candle flickering in a violent wind.

Ready to go out at any moment.

However, Arthur remained cautious.

He had not forgotten that Thanatos possessed methods capable of avoiding his spiritual detection.

"It's not certain yet," Arthur replied.

"Stay here."

"I'll take a look myself."

With a wave of his hand, the dust dispersed.

Arthur walked toward the impact crater left behind by Elden Stars.

At the bottom of the crater lay Thanatos.

Or rather—

Voldemort's body possessed by Thanatos.

His condition appeared miserable.

His eyes were closed.

His body lay motionless.

At first glance, he looked completely unconscious.

Arthur did not approach recklessly.

Instead, he formed another sword seal and summoned the Dark Moon Greatsword back to his side.

The sword immediately began emitting a series of dissatisfied hums.

Arthur instantly understood.

It was complaining.

When Elden Stars came crashing down earlier, the sword had been caught within the blast radius as well.

Naturally, the attack couldn't actually damage the Dark Moon Greatsword.

But it had buried the weapon underground.

Arthur gently stroked the blade.

"Sorry."

"I'll make it up to you afterward."

"But first…"

"I need you to do me a favor."
