Chapter 118 - A Green Susanoo Steps Onto The Board

A pressure wave rolled through Konoha, low and dense, warping rooftops, rattling bone and blood alike.

Chakra surged from a single direction, from the Hyūga compound, then violently rebounded, the recoil so immense it was visible even from the stadium.

Orochimaru's head turned first.

"…Oh?" he murmured, lips parting into a grin that was far too pleased.

Another impact followed, sharper this time, and something pale streaked across the skyline, slammed through walls, and vanished into the abandoned Uchiha district.

That second presence followed immediately, heavier, wrapped in crushing white pressure.

Orochimaru laughed softly.

"So that's where you went," he said, almost fondly. "Kimimaro."

He hadn't expected that.

Not the target.

The Hyūga.

Out of all of Konoha, during this perfect window, he had chosen the Hyūga.

And perhaps he wasn't wrong.

What intrigued Orochimaru more than Kimimaro's choice was the answer it provoked.

"That much power," he muttered, eyes narrowing. "Hidden. For decades. And now they show it."

Even with his not that exceptional sensory ability, the sheer volume made it impossible to miss.

Orochimaru felt it clearly enough to understand one thing.

That Hiashi Hyūga was pushing back Kimimaro.

And that, more than anything else today, amused him.

"So the polite little clan had fangs after all," he whispered. "How very Konoha."

Jiraiya felt it far more clearly.

Sage Mode seized the signals instantly, reconstructing the exchange from shockwaves and intent alone.

His expression hardened.

"That teen…" he breathed. "He's the one those girls follow. And all this time, he's been precise. Not rampaging."

His eyes narrowed.

"He went straight for the Hyūga."

That realization settled uncomfortably deep.

"And the Hyūga," he continued, eyes narrowing. "They don't unleash that kind of power without reason."

Another collision thundered in the distance, and Jiraiya grimaced.

"I'm running out of things I thought I understood about this world."

Emi saw everything the most perfectly with her peripheral vision.

Her Byakugan pierced the distance effortlessly, watching Kimimaro cut into the Hyūga compound like a knife through silk, main branch members falling, seals breaking, centuries of arrogance shattered in minutes.

For a heartbeat, she felt vindicated.

Then Hiashi erupted.

White chakra flared like a compressed sun, gravity bending around him as he slammed Kimimaro clear through the compound and chased him, erecting a condensed energy dome that swallowed the battlefield between them, containing the devastation.

Emi's hands clenched.

"…That's new," she whispered.

Worry flickered, sharp and unwanted.

Then she exhaled slowly.

"No," she told herself. "It's fine."

Her lips curved faintly.

"If that was enough to stop him, the world would've ended years ago."

Reika felt it too.

Not as clearly as Emi, but clearly enough.

Her gaze tightened, fingers flexing unconsciously.

"So that's what they were hiding," she murmured. "A whole clan pretending to be smaller than it is."

Concern crept in despite her discipline.

Akane and Saya couldn't see the details.

But they felt the aftershocks.

Saya's grin widened as the distant pressure spiked again.

"He's having fun," she said happily. "I knew it."

Akane's eyes narrowed, Sharingan spinning beneath her mask.

"…Tch. Figures," she muttered. "Always someone strong hiding somewhere."

Competitive fire stirred, sharp and familiar.

Yet, before any of them could say much more—

The pressure shifted again.

Three new presences crossed the horizon.

And the battlefield turned to meet them.

They entered the battlefield without announcement.

No flare of chakra meant to impress.

No declaration of allegiance yet.

Just motion.

The air folded inward as the green Susanoo manifested.

It wasn't skeletal.

It wasn't monstrous.

It was disciplined.

Lean. Refined. Green.

That color hit Konoha like a knife.

Danzo felt it in his stomach before his eye finished registering it.

"No…" he breathed, fingers subconsciously tightening against the bandages wrapped around his right eye.

The armor bore a strange, familiar hollow at its center, a flaw he had witnessed once before, long ago, on the day Shisui had been ambushed.

That green as well.

It had that same fiendish cast, lean and predatory, a single red tomoe burning at the center of its chest.

Its defenses were absolute.

He remembered it now, remembered how an entire barrage of explosive-tagged kunai had detonated against it, fire and shrapnel washing over the Susanoo without so much as a crack, leaving Shisui standing untouched within as he escaped into the woods. There was no mistaking it. This was Shisui's Susanoo.

Danzo's mind raced, grasping for certainty and finding none.

Shisui was dead. That much he was certain of.

He had watched him be poisoned by an incurable Aburame's special-bred kōchū, a strain designed to kill even through resistance.

He had taken his eye himself before then. And yet—

"This chakra," Danzo muttered. "It's not—"

Not Shisui's.

Something older pressed behind it.

Colder.

As if the man wearing that Susanoo had been hollowed out and refilled with something else.

Jiraiya felt it too.

He faltered half a step as the pressure swept across the battlefield, Sage Mode flooding his senses with alarms that refused to resolve into anything coherent.

"Another Uchiha…?" he muttered, eyes widening. "Friend… or foe?"

Then teh two figures flanking the Uchiha moved next.

The samurai drew his blade, and the cut didn't end at the edge of steel.

Natural energy clung to the arc, swelling, thickening, turning a single swing into a crescent that carved through terrain and jutsu alike.

The air screamed as if it had been struck.

The monk stepped forward barehanded.

His fist connected with the ground.

The shockwave didn't explode.

It propagated.

Each strike carried the weight of decades of stillness, of power honed without shortcuts.

Saya laughed as she met them.

"So mysterious..." she hissed, scythe spinning, blood lifting to meet the monk's fist and the samurai's blade. "Good. I was getting bored."

She took them both at once, blood nets tangling with natural energy, her movements sharp and eager, Yang Seal flaring as she danced between impacts that would have pulped most shinobi instantly.

"Since when," Jiraiya muttered, eyes wide, "does Konoha get help like this…?"

Orochimaru glanced sideways mid-exchange with Guy, yellow eyes narrowing.

"Well now," he murmured, voice light despite the blood splashing across his face.

"Konoha keeps secrets even from itself."

Akane felt it as well.

Another Uchiha. Not Itachi.

Her Susanoo's hammers paused for the barest instant, white cracks flaring brighter as fire and lightning surged in response to her spike of emotion.

"You," she said quietly, voice carried through the construct, sharp enough to cut.

"Who are you supposed to be?"

The green Susanoo turned.

Just enough.

The response came as motion, not words.

A spear-shaped construct formed from the convergence point, not thrown, but extended, a test rather than a strike.

Akane met it head-on, hammers colliding with disciplined precision.

The impact split the air.

Akane's eyes narrowed.

No hesitation.

"Tch," she spat. "Annoying."

She pulled back, redirected, returning to carving through Konoha's forces and Root alike, but her attention never fully left him again.

Reika stepped forward, instead.

Chains unfurled from her back, golden links snapping through the air, ice chakra creeping along their edges as her Kagura's Mind Eye locked onto the green Susanoo's core.

"So you're the strongest," she said calmly. Not a question. An assessment.

Her chains struck.

The Susanoo met them without force, the convergence node absorbing, redirecting, bleeding the momentum into controlled dispersion.

Reika's eyes narrowed for the first time.

"Interesting."

Jiraiya exhaled slowly, dread settling into his chest as he watched the field further fracture. Emi still had him.

Vacuum fists roared toward him, layered destruction screaming through Sage defenses, her Byakugan tracking every twitch of his chakra.

For a brief moment, Konoha hesitated.

Hands faltered mid-seal. Formations wavered.

Eyes were pulled to the green Susanoo and the two ancient figures flanking it.

Relief flickered. Then doubt crept in behind it.

ANBU tightened ranks without comment.

Root recalculated in silence.

Veterans felt the sheer weight of that power and understood it hadn't come from loyalty.

These weren't forces listed in any village protocol, bound to no banner they recognized.

No one knew why they had entered the fight.

Only that, for now, letting them act was the least disastrous option.
