Chapter 38 - Emerald-108

In a matter of minutes, everything was ready, and the secondary ships started launching the Kryptonite soldiers across the great distance of space in the escape pods.

Five groups, five cities to be attacked at once…

Emerald-108 was watching the screen with narrowed eyes; the few Peridots around her were sweating bullets. After all, if the calculations were wrong and the landing spot of the Kryptonites was wrong, then Emerald would most likely have them harvested once the mission was over…

Of course, their worries were unfounded because Emerald simply didn't have replacements in the first place for the Peridots.

Punishments? Sure, but each Gem was currently worth its weight in diamond essence until the first colony is up and running.

Emerald saw the pods enter the atmosphere, and once she was sure the trajectories were correct, she started shouting orders at the Peridots on the three ships.

Emerald-108 ordered the ships to advance; once the pods landed on the planet surface, they needed to be ready to attack the heroes' Watchtower.

(Planet Earth on the surface)

The dark skies of Metropolis were lightened on fire as five meteorites cut their way through the sky, each one looking like burning green flames as a result of their forced entry through the atmosphere.

The humans below stopped as they watched in awe, thinking they were witnessing some strange or rare phenomenon.

But their awe and confusion didn't last long; the first meteorite struck through the building of LexCorp and passed through the building, destroying whatever it passed.

But what passed through the building wasn't a meteorite.

The soldier inside, once she felt her pod slam into something, a grin formed on her lips as she kicked the door of her pod open.

The pod was like paper under Kryptonite-90 strength; she broke through just in time. The pod exited through the opposite side of the LexCorp building.

The Kryptonite, finding herself in free fall, started laughing as the kryptonite in her shoulder glowed; a spear formed in her left hand from light.

The spear was colored dark green, and its tip was glowing light green, emitting liquid-like smoke.

The Kryptonite slammed the spear into the building beside her as her free fall continued with her joyful laughter all the way down.

This was what she was made to fight! To protect her Diamond! She was finally fulfilling her purpose!....

A few hundred meters away, in the middle of a busy street, landed another pod as it formed a crater in the ground…

The humans screamed as they ran away, avoiding being crushed under the burning pod, but after it settled, a few brave and curious souls started moving slightly closer.

They all froze as the roof of the object tore apart as a spear pierced through it, and a second later, two hands held the hole forming at the top as she forced them apart with sheer strength.

In front of everyone in the street, Kryptonite-91 came out of her pod as a cold smile formed on her face.

The Daily Planet was not spared either, with two pods landing through the building.

Lois Lane was one of those present at the scene as she saw the two huge aliens tear the pods apart before coming out…

Kryptonite-92 and Kryptonite-93 were deployed successfully.

While some may not connect the dots, Lois Lane wasn't one of them. One glance at the gems in the different locations on the two aliens made her remember a rather pink figure with the same particular feature.

She turned her head slowly to Clark, or more accurately as she newly discovered, Superman, who was sitting beside her with a very serious expression as she said, "The media joked about her being a princess…..But I think it may not be a joke anymore."

Across the city, the same scenes repeated themselves with different pods crashing through orbit.

The last pod was almost 70 meters from impact as the Kryptonite inside tore through the pod as she freed herself.

Kryptonite-94 glanced at the city from above as she was free-falling and determined that her comrades' landing was successful..

'Alright, now just as the Commander informed us…'

'First step was landing, and second step was to gather together.'

Kryptonite-94 landed with a boom as the ground cracked under her feet.

"First step is completed…next step starts now!"

Her gem glowed as a spear formed in her hand; she raised the spear against the darkness of the sky as her gem glowed slightly, and the next second, a pillar of green fire fired from her spear, tearing through the darkness of the sky.

It was the biggest attack Kryptonite-94 was capable of, which demanded more energy than she was comfortable outputting, but it had done its purpose.

The other Kryptonites at the same time turned to look at the pillar of energy tearing through the darkness.

The ground broke under their super strength as they started making their way to the meeting point..

As the two Kryptonites left the Daily Planet, Clark moved to change into his suit, his mind filled with different thoughts.

The first was: how did they get so close without anyone in the Watchtower detecting them?

And the second was the fact that those aliens were made from kryptonite, which complicated things.

Clark felt someone grip his hand as Lois said, "They are here for a reason, and you know what it is just as I do; instead of fighting, maybe you should just let Pink talk to them?"

Clark felt a smile tugging at his lips; he could hear Lois's heartbeat and feel her worry. He just gave a warm smile as he moved.

'It isn't like I intended to punch before trying to talk things out…'

The next second, Superman was in the sky as he contacted the Watchtower..

"Everyone, we have a situation in Metropolis. I think some of Pink's friends are here."

What Superman heard next made him pause as he understood that things were getting complicated.

Across the world, similar situations were taking place; the skies of Gotham City, Metropolis, Central City, Coast City, and London had their dark skies turned bright as green meteorites tore through the sky.

(Outer Space)

Emerald-108 knew that her plan worked; the heroes believed their technology to be able to detect any threats before arrival..

As if their primitive level of technology was capable of detecting the vessels of the Empire.

But conflict wasn't what she wanted nor needed….

She needed her Diamond safe and sound, and as much as she detested the mere idea of even negotiating with organics, but after listening carefully to the advice of the Peridot, then she decided to entertain the thought.

But not now….

Negotiations are a two-way road; it may work, which would be optimal as her Diamond would be rescued and they would not have to waste precious time or resources dealing with this planet.

But those organics may not know how important her Diamond is, which would explain their arrogance in imprisoning her…Which means for all they know, they probably think that this is some small matter of beings from space trying to bring a lost individual of their species back home.

So by negotiating, she may end up informing the enemy of how valuable what they hold is against her…

And that cannot be allowed to happen because it could endanger her Diamond; after all, Emerald's plans cannot be based on expecting organics to be civilized..

So she would try negotiating….But first, she must be in a position where she has not showed extreme aggression yet, and at the same time, her plans should be able to proceed if the negotiations failed.

Emerald-108 glanced at the Watchtower that was now finally close enough for her to see.

She only spared the blue planet a single glance before turning to the Peridots as she said, "Prepare the launch process again for Kryptonite-100 and her team and wait for my orders to launch."

Emerald glanced once more at the planet before saying, "And prepare the ship weapons in case I have to be extra aggressive in my demands… sigh, and get the communications done with already."

"I need to give those organics a very important piece of advice."

"Yes, Commander!" The Peridots started following the order to prepare everything.

'This was it…The Kryptonites are deployed, waiting for the order to cause chaos on the planet, while the mothership's weapons are ready for bombardment and the rescue team are waiting to be launched.'

'If they refused my demands for my Diamond's freedom….Then plan A would proceed smoothly.'

'I just have to make the consequences of their refusal apparent, that even their organic minds would understand what the wise move is.'

Martian Manhunter in the Watchtower received the communication attempt as he glanced at the heroes in the room.

Most heroes were brought back and ready to be sent to the different cities to provide support, or that was the plan, but the supposed aliens that landed on Earth have not started attacking civilians and seemed to be waiting for orders; and Batman, who was at the Watchtower, held the heroes back, expecting some sort of negotiations to take place.

Batman was watching with a keen eye as the huge pink-colored mothership came into view of the screen as he passed Manhunter the second the signal of incoming communication was made from the ship.

Batman passed to the front as he stood for a long minute before receiving the call…The screen was static for a second as Emerald-108 came into view.

On the mothership, a few seconds passed as Emerald waited with impatience as a hologram formed in front of her of what she knew as Batman..

"Greetings, organic filth…Am I correct to assume that you can represent this primitive planet known as Earth and the organization known as the Justice League, or do I have to wait?"

The other heroes in the background, like the Flash, tried stepping forward, saying..

"Hey, wait a minute!" but a single glance from Batman cut him off, as Batman turned slowly and stared at Emerald's single eye, and instead of rising to her provocation, Batman simply stared at her directly as he said, "Yes..I can."

'….He didn't become angry; at least he isn't as uncivilized as the rest of those organics…It seems the information is correct..this is a smart one,' Emerald-108 noted in her mind as her tone shifted.

The disgust was gone as it was replaced with a cold tone as she answered, "I am Emerald-108, the commander of the vessels that you see before you and a formal representative of the Gem Empire!"

"We are here for the individual identified as Pink Diamond, which from my understanding is present on your primitive vessel."

"Her presence on your planet was accidental, and thus your act of aggression can be forgiven due to your lack of understanding and ignorance, and thus my demands are simple…."

Emerald's tone turned slightly warmer, losing its cold tone and sounding persuasive before it returned at the end of her sentence.

"Return her unharmed and this matter can be forgotten from my side, and your planet and the Empire both can avoid a war that we have nothing to gain from…..Refuse, and we will have nothing more to discuss."

"So, organic? What will it be?"
