The gym slowly shifted from competition chaos to something… quieter.
Tables had been placed across the floor.
Teachers sat on one side.
Parents on the other.
Students awkwardly stood nearby like defendants waiting for judgment.
The supernatural tension in the room was subtle… but very real.
Several teachers were sweating and didn't even know why.
At one of the tables sat Koyomi Araragi, leaning lazily in his chair like he'd rather be anywhere else.
A stack of student files sat in front of him.
He flipped one open.
"Nate Adam's."
Nate walked over.
Behind him came Lily and Aaron.
Kunou followed too, still clinging to Nate's arm.
From another direction, Yasaka approached calmly.
And finally—
A tall man in a glamour spell walked over.
Enma.
Several nearby teachers suddenly felt like the temperature dropped ten degrees.
Araragi glanced up.
His expression didn't change.
"…Well," he muttered, "this escalated."
Nate sat down slowly.
'Why are all the strongest parents gathering at the same table…'
Across from them, Araragi opened the file.
He spoke casually.
"Academically, Nate scores within the top percentile."
He flipped a page.
"Physics: Perfect."
Another page.
"Biology: Excellent."
Another.
"Mathematics: Near perfect."
Araragi tapped the folder closed.
"But."
Everyone leaned slightly forward.
Araragi looked directly at Nate.
"You skip homework sometimes."
Nate blinked.
'That's the problem?'
Aaron burst out laughing.
Lily covered her mouth, smiling.
Yasaka looked amused.
Enma remained completely still.
Nate rubbed the back of his neck.
"…In my defense, some of those assignments were redundant."
Araragi shrugged.
"Fair."
Then he flipped to another page.
"Combat conditioning… excellent."
That made several parents look up.
Araragi continued calmly.
"Reaction speed. Balance. Spatial awareness. All well above student norms."
He looked at Nate again.
"You train."
It wasn't a question.
Nate smiled slightly.
"…A bit."
Araragi's eye sharpened slightly.
'A bit?'
Across the gym, several other parents were having very normal conversations about grades.
Meanwhile this table had:
• The Fox Queen of Kyoto
• The Judge of the Underworld
• Two extremely powerful supernatural figures
• A student who clearly fought things stronger than homework
And Araragi just kept talking like it was a normal Tuesday.
He slid another file forward.
"Kunou."
Kunou immediately puffed her chest out proudly.
"I got first place!"
Araragi glanced at the results sheet.
"…Yes. Through airborne trajectory."
Kunou grinned.
"Jumping counts."
Yasaka sighed softly.
"My daughter is energetic."
Araragi nodded.
"Energetic is one word."
He then glanced sideways.
"Emma Daiouji."
Emma froze where she stood.
Slowly… painfully slowly… she walked over.
Behind her stood Enma.
The gym suddenly felt heavier.
Araragi opened another file.
"…Academically flawless."
Emma tried to look normal.
Araragi continued.
"Top scores in physics, biology, mathematics."
He turned a page.
"However…"
Emma's shoulders stiffened.
Araragi looked at her over the file.
"You deliberately held back during the physical test."
Emma's brain froze.
"…I—"
Araragi closed the folder.
"I'm not asking why."
Emma blinked.
Then he added casually:
"But next time, don't insult the evaluation process."
Emma nodded stiffly.
"…Yes, sensei."
Behind her—
Enma chuckled quietly.
The sound carried across the entire gym.
Several supernatural beings felt their spines stiffen.
Araragi leaned back in his chair.
Unbothered.
"…Alright."
He looked at the gathered parents.
"Any questions about the students?"
The silence that followed was very interesting.
Because this had quietly turned into something else entirely.
A meeting not just about grades—
But about what kind of monsters this school was secretly raising.
Meanwhile at another table across the gym, a very different meeting was finishing up.
Rito Yuuki adjusted the stack of files in front of him and looked down at the name on the folder.
"Moka Akashiya."
Across the table sat two figures who absolutely did not look like normal parents.
One was the elegant and terrifyingly beautiful Akasha Bloodriver.
Beside her sat a tall man dressed like he had walked out of an old European noble portrait.
Long silver hair.
Regal posture.
Eyes that carried centuries of cold intelligence.
Issa Shuzen.
Rito cleared his throat slightly.
"Well… everything says your daughter is doing very well."
He flipped the file around.
"Grades are excellent. Teachers have no complaints."
Akasha's smile warmed slightly.
"That's wonderful to hear."
But then she tilted her head slightly.
"But has she been making friends?"
Moka immediately turned red.
"Mother!"
Rito chuckled awkwardly.
"Well… I have seen her around Nate and his friends quite a lot."
Issa nodded once.
"Very well."
He stood smoothly.
"We have other matters to attend to."
The meeting ended as simply as it began.
The family walked away together.
Moka followed quietly behind them.
But her mind was already racing.
'They're going to notice eventually…'
Her gaze drifted across the gym.
Toward Nate.
'I just hope they don't see him as a threat.'
—
A little while later…
Nate stepped away from Araragi's table, stretching his arms.
"Well, that went great."
Lily smiled slightly.
"At least you haven't fallen behind in your studies."
Nate grinned.
"Be happy about that, Mom."
Aaron laughed loudly.
"Well, that's true."
Nearby, Yasaka let out a relieved sigh.
"Now that that's done, there shouldn't be any more prob—"
"Can we talk to you?"
Nate froze.
The voice carried something familiar.
Something heavy.
Something ancient.
His mind immediately clicked.
'Ok… one is Moka.'
'That means the other two are…'
Everyone slowly turned.
Standing a few meters away was Akasha.
Beside her stood Issa.
And between them…
Moka Akashiya.
Yasaka's eyes sharpened slightly the moment she saw the woman.
Recognition flashed instantly.
"Lady Bloodriver."
Her voice was calm but respectful.
"You came to Y Academy?"
Akasha smiled warmly and placed a gentle hand on Moka's shoulder.
"Yes."
She gestured lightly toward her daughter.
"After all… my daughter studies here."
Lily studied Moka for a moment.
Then she nodded slowly.
"So this is the vampire princess."
Moka blinked.
Then quickly gave a small, slightly awkward wave.
"Pleasure to meet you."
The air around the group subtly changed.
Because this was no longer just parents talking.
This was:
• The Fox Queen of Kyoto
• A Watcher of cosmic authority
• A powerful supernatural noble family
• The Judge of the Underworld somewhere nearby
And right in the middle of them—
Nate.
Who suddenly felt like he was standing in the center of a very complicated diplomatic meeting disguised as a school event.
'…Please don't turn this into a power standoff,' Nate prayed silently.
Lily folded her hands politely.
"Miss Bloodriver," she said calmly, "what did you want to talk about?"
Akasha Bloodriver smiled in that gentle, almost disarming way she had.
"Oh," she said lightly, "the same request we discussed two months ago."
Nate blinked.
'Two months ago?'
He slowly looked at Yasaka.
The fox woman's ears twitched slightly as memory clicked into place.
"Ah," Yasaka said softly. "That conversation."
Akasha nodded once.
"Yes. That one."
Then she said it.
Completely calmly.
Without hesitation.
"Where I mentioned that I see Nate as a very promising son-in-law candidate."
Silence.
Absolute silence.
Three brains immediately blue-screened.
Moka Akashiya
Nate
Kunou
All three froze in place like statues.
Moka's face turned red in half a second.
Her brain simply stopped processing language.
'…mother said WHAT.'
Nate's thoughts crashed equally hard.
'…EXCUSE ME?'
Kunou looked between everyone.
Her brain tried to process the sentence.
Failed.
Restarted.
Failed again.
Meanwhile…
The adults?
Did not react.
If they did, they were masters at hiding it.
Yasaka simply crossed her arms thoughtfully.
Lily looked mildly curious.
Aaron rubbed his chin like someone analyzing a business proposal.
Even the distant presence of Enma watching from across the room remained calm.
Akasha continued like she had just commented on the weather.
"Nate appears intelligent, capable, and well-mannered."
She glanced at him briefly.
"And he seems to care about my daughter."
Nate internally screamed.
'I HAVE NEVER BEEN MORE AWARE OF EVERYONE IN A 30 METER RADIUS.'
Moka was completely frozen.
Her mind looping one sentence.
'Mother said son-in-law.'
Kunou finally rebooted first.
Her fox ears shot straight up.
"WAIT."
She pointed dramatically.
"NATE IS MY HUSBAND."
The statement echoed across the gym.
Several nearby students turned their heads instantly.
Yasaka slowly covered her face with one hand.
Aaron started laughing again.
Lily sighed.
Nate whispered to himself:
'This is how wars start.'
Akasha simply smiled politely like nothing unusual was happening.
Because to her…
This was simply a marriage discussion between noble families.
And she hadn't even started negotiating yet.
Across the gym, the words Kunou shouted had absolutely not gone unnoticed.
Students were already whispering.
"Wait… did Kunou just say that?"
"What did she mean by husband?"
"Aren't they sixteen?!"
"Is this some kind of weird club thing?"
The murmur spread like wildfire.
Nate felt his soul leaving his body.
'Nope.'
'Nope nope nope nope.'
He immediately reached for his wrist.
The watch clicked open.
Yo-kai Watch flashed with light.
Nate spun the dial.
"Alright, emergency damage control."
The medal slot glowed.
He snapped one in.
"Whisper! Metal Galaxy!"
Light spiraled outward as a familiar white ghost popped into existence.
Whisper appeared mid-air holding his tablet dramatically.
"YO-KAI BUTLER WHISPER AT YOUR SERV—"
Nate grabbed him.
"Not the intro!"
Whisper squeaked.
"Yes sir!"
Nate quickly scrolled through the digital medal interface.
His finger tapped a cluster of identical icons.
Multiple summons triggered.
Metallic flashes appeared around the gym.
One.
Two.
Five.
Ten.
An entire swarm of confused Yo-kai appeared.
Wazzat.
But not just one.
Every metal variation of them Nate had collected.
They blinked around in confusion.
"Wazzat?"
"Wazzat?"
"Wazzat?"
Nate pointed dramatically at the entire student body.
"MAKE EVERY STUDENT FORGET WHAT KUNOU JUST YELLED!"
The Wazzats all tilted their heads.
Then their eyes glowed.
"Wazzat!"
A wave of mental fuzz rolled across the gym.
Students blinked.
Mid-conversation thoughts derailed instantly.
"…Wait what were we talking about?"
"I forgot."
"Was someone shouting?"
"No idea."
"Man this school is weird."
The gossip wave collapsed instantly.
Nate exhaled.
"Good."
But the day still wasn't safe.
He slammed another medal into the watch.
"Next step!"
Light spiraled again.
A small portal Yo-kai popped out.
Mirapo appeared beside him.
"Yo! Need a portal?"
Nate pointed at the entire group of parents and friends.
"TAKE ME AND EVERYONE HOME!"
Mirapo grinned.
"Say less."
He spun his ring portal open.
A swirling doorway appeared behind them.
Aaron laughed loudly.
"Well, that's one way to end a parent-teacher meeting."
Yasaka sighed but stepped toward the portal.
Lily followed calmly.
Akasha watched the whole scene with amused curiosity.
Moka was still completely red.
Kunou clung proudly to Nate's arm.
"Nate is running away!"
Nate grabbed her and marched straight toward the portal.
"Yes."
"I absolutely am."
Behind them, Whisper floated nervously.
"…You know this is going to be a much bigger problem later, right?"
Nate stepped through the portal.
'That is a tomorrow problem.'
To be continue
