NARUTO LEGENDS OF THE PAST is a collection of short stories focusing on the backstories of the main characters from the Naruto universe.

It traces the development of the plot centred on Madara Uchiha’s goals and ideology, which form the basis of the Fourth Great Ninja War in the original series.

The various short stories explore themes such as Itachi Uchiha’s psychological journey leading to his decision to sacrifice himself for his brother Sasuke, or what caused the disappearance of the Senju Clan and the death of Hashirama Senju – events that remain unexplained in the original series to this day. 

You don’t have to follow the order of publication, although it is recommended. 

Each short story includes a Glossary to help readers navigate the names of villages, clans and characters.

This summary brings together all the short stories published to date. It therefore allows you to choose which ones you'd like to read first if you don't wish to follow the order of publication.


What is Itachi Uchiha's fate following the massacre of his clan?


This story explores the inner turmoil of the series' most beloved character, as well as the path that led him to the fateful decision that ultimately brought about his death.


At the age of 15, Itachi is officially a full member of the Akatsuki criminal organisation, but in reality, he acts under the guidance of the Third Hokage of the village of Konoha, Hiruzen Sarutobi.


Now, Itachi faces a man who may well call into question everything he has done so far... none other than the legendary Madara Uchiha.


Madara poses a grave threat to the village that Itachi holds so dear... But... can he stand up to him?

This story reveals the tragic day when, just as the village of Konoha was at its peak, its end had never been so close.


Officially, Hashirama Senju is the current Hokage of Konoha, but what many do not know is that today, he is no longer fit to lead. Illness is consuming the greatest hero the world has ever known, day by day, and his days are numbered.


But, whilst the situation is already critical, a threat is gradually looming in the shadows. A threat... that could bring about the downfall of the Senju Clan.


Hashirama is determined to protect his family at all costs, but does he still have the power to do so?


Tobirama Senju, his younger brother and current deputy, is doing everything in his power to manage the situation without putting his brother in danger... But... when the enemy reveals itself, the options are running out...
