Chapter 263: Tang San Returns Once More to the Douluo Continent
During this time, Haotian Sect had long been worried about what might have happened to Tang San in the God Realm.
Now, seeing his divine consciousness descend before them, they finally breathed a sigh of relief.
In the past, such appearances were not alarming, but with the emergence of the Star Auction Pavilion, the Douluo Continent had undergone unprecedented upheavals.
Even among soul beasts, there were now several who had reached the million-year level. How could they not be concerned?
Tang San waved his hand, getting straight to the point. "How is Dong'er? Has anything changed within the Haotian Sect during my absence?"
Titan stepped forward immediately. "Dong'er is safe within the academy, and our Haotian Sect has steadily grown stronger."
At that, Tang San's divine sense swept outward.
In an instant, he could feel that the sect's overall strength had increased significantly.
His brows furrowed slightly as he thought of the Star Auction Pavilion. "Have you been in contact with them?"
His tone was calm—so calm it was impossible to discern his intent.
"Yes," Titan replied. "The Star Auction Pavilion's origins are mysterious. They opened what they call the Star Vault and held several major auctions. Through these opportunities, Haotian Sect has grown considerably.
"But we discovered it late. By now, the entire continent teems with new experts. Even among soul beasts, Bi Ji's strength has reached the million-year level."
Niu Tian then recounted in detail the recent events that had shaken the Douluo Continent.
Tang San listened in silence, his expression thoughtful.
The Star Auction Pavilion's open sale of divine-grade treasures had brought fortune to countless people across the continent.
Even so, once he restored his power, he would not let that mysterious pavilion go unchecked.
As for the matters of the soul beasts, he already knew some details from the God Realm.
If not for the emergence of a new million-year soul beast, the other God Kings would never have turned their eyes toward the mortal plane—giving him the chance to break open a rift and send his divine sense down to the continent.
"Oh, that's right," said Titan suddenly, taking something from his robes. "We also obtained a hundred-thousand-year soul spirit from the Star Auction Pavilion—the Eternal Day Burning Heaven Phoenix."
The moment he revealed it, waves of pure light and destruction energy flooded the air.
Even Tang San's divine sense recoiled from the scorching aura. His brows knitted, eyes narrowing.
"A soul spirit? What is that?" he asked. The term was foreign to him. The thing before him looked almost like the soul of a beast.
"Soul spirits are a new kind of being recently appearing on the continent," Titan explained. "By fusing with one, a soul master can instantly gain multiple spirit rings at once."
As he spoke, he outlined the origins and function of soul spirits.
The more Tang San listened, the more solemn his expression became.
To think that the Star Auction Pavilion could create soul spirits—it was beyond comprehension.
"These soul spirits… do they come from soul beasts?" Tang San asked quietly.
"In principle, yes," Titan replied. "But the Star Auction Pavilion possesses a method to generate soul spirits from nothing. They no longer need to draw them from living soul beasts."
At those words, the corner of Tang San's mouth tightened.
Trouble.
The God Realm already kept a close eye on the soul beasts. Now the long-hidden Silver Dragon King had restored her power, gathering countless subordinates and pushing her strength to half-step godhood.
If she were to rise again, war between the God Realm and the mortal realm would be inevitable.
And now, with soul spirits reducing the need to hunt soul beasts—and even strengthening their kind—the balance would tilt further.
In time, this could reshape the entire continent.
Suddenly, an unreadable glint flashed within Tang San's eyes.
Perhaps… this change was not entirely bad. It might be a chance for him to reclaim his former title among the divine enforcers.
Surely the other God Kings could not remain idle much longer.
Then his attention returned to the soul spirit floating before him. His pupils contracted sharply.
Within it, he sensed an ancient bloodline—one eerily similar to that recorded in the oldest divine texts.
And when he saw its full appearance, his suspicion was confirmed.
"This is… the Eternal Day Burning Heaven Phoenix?"
Tang San's voice trembled with disbelief. "That species was wiped out in the age of the Dragon God! How could it reappear here?"
Titan and Niu Tian exchanged uneasy glances. As expected, Tang San recognized it.
The Star Auction Pavilion had mentioned its history briefly.
"We spent a fortune to acquire this hundred-thousand-year soul spirit," Titan said slowly. "Once Dong'er's strength rises further, we planned to let her absorb it. Its energy is extraordinary—it would give her unimaginable power."
"There's something wrong with it?" Titan asked when he saw Tang San's grave expression.
Tang San took a slow breath. "More than just wrong. The bloodline of this beast was one even the Dragon God feared. If Dong'er absorbs it, the consequences could be disastrous. Did you learn anything else at the auction?"
Titan immediately recounted everything they had seen and heard at the event.
Tang San's frown deepened. His divine sense rippled faintly. "Just what in the world is this Star Auction Pavilion plotting?"
His gaze drifted toward the distant Shrek Academy, eyes heavy with concern.
The Golden Tree's evolution, the reappearance of the Eternal Day Burning Heaven Phoenix—things were becoming far more complicated than he had imagined.
Even the Golden Tree itself unsettled him. He knew it well—it was he who had planted it at Shrek Academy years ago.
He understood its true potential better than anyone.
And more importantly, his mother's consciousness still slumbered deep within that tree.
He had wanted to see what changes had taken place after its evolution. But since he could not risk the other God Kings detecting him, he had descended only a sliver of divine sense—far too weak to penetrate the Golden Tree's shield.
Whatever was happening within the academy remained a mystery to him.
After discussing further with Titan and Niu Tian to learn more about the Star Auction Pavilion's movements, Tang San made up his mind.
Knowledge was power, and he needed both before he acted.
He could not stay long in the mortal world. If those "four fellows" discovered his descent, there would be consequences.
With a wave of his hand, two golden lights shot forward, embedding themselves into Titan and Niu Tian's bodies.
"For now, I cannot descend often. Use these as conduits—if anything arises, send me word through them."
His voice was calm yet resolute.
Then, without further word, Tang San's form faded away, dissolving back into the God Realm.
