Valentina had just successfully put the babies back to sleep after they were awoken by her mother's departure, when a knock sounded on the door.
Her heart skipped a beat, as her eyes swiftly shot towards the twins' cribs.
A sigh of relief escaped her when she saw they were still asleep, and the noise had not woken them up.
In a tiptoe, she hurried over to the door before whoever it was would knock again and disrupt all of her progress.
On arrival at the door, she opened, ready to tell whoever it was to leave and return later.
Her eyes widened when she saw Luciano standing before her.
"Can I come in?" He asked, confirming he was truly there.
Her heart began to race.
It was nothing. She wanted to believe it was for no reason at all.
Yet, she couldn't control her racing heart as it thumped in her ears.
"Can I?"
She let her hand slip out of the door, and turned away to create a lot of distance between them.
