Luciano arrived at the door and knocked once.
He stepped aside, waiting for a response to determine what he would do next.
The response came a minute later when Valentina opened the door.
"Oh," her forehead creased. "It's you."
"Yeah, I want to check on the twins. Are they awake?"
"Sure. They slept through the night so woke up pretty early." She stepped away from the door, and returned to the bed where she had been reading them a book.
Arthur's eyes lit up as Luciano picked him up from the bed.
"Hey buddy." He threw him up, and caught him.
Valentina opened her mouth to protest against that kind of dangerous play, but Arthur began to laugh, so she decided to mind her business.
"Son, you're going to be stronger than your father. I can already tell."
He put him down, and picked up Zella next.
"Hello my princess."
She giggled.
With her, he was more gentle, as he twirled her all around the room, dancing to invisible sounds.
