As evening approached, Kael finally lowered Yolen's essay onto his lap and stretched his shoulders. His expression carried the unmistakable look of someone who had just encountered an idea that had changed the way he viewed an entire subject.
"Bruce, this essay is remarkable."
Bruce looked up from his own book. "I haven't read it yet. What does it say?"
Kael tapped the manuscript with one finger before answering. "Yolen believes that first-principle soul-script is not merely another technique for manipulating the realm. He believes it is the original form of the realm's fabric itself. According to his theory, the modern seal system is essentially a derivative language, a simplified vocabulary created from the older principles of soul-script."
Bruce's attention sharpened immediately.
