June 8th 1317, Warnday.
The streets were yet again filled with trash and homelessness.
The once clean roads three years ago has now turned into a litter.
I turned a corner of the road and saw a church.
As I carried a small bag filled with some goods.
Today was a memorial for the dead.
People who died in battle in this war.
Church became a humanitarian aid who frequently send out aid to the frontline.
Either by sending food, clothes, supplies or more manpower.
Mom told me to give this to the priest.
In hopes it will some way some how reach Laura.
I slowly opened the doors that led inside the church.
When I stepped in, I saw multiple preachers talking to each other.
Wearing black and white clothes and a pendant on their neck.
each representing one of the seven lords.
I slightly bowed down to greet them and followed as well.
I got inside the building, intending to give the bag directly to the priest.
In the distance. I saw a sculpture of the seven lords in display.
It almost reminded of buddhist gods with how they were represented and sculptured.
I remember those days back in my previous life where I used to go to a buddhist temple and pray for my dead grandparents.
Certainly boring as the monk continuously chanted something non-stop.
Not that I minded or anything, certainly I respected any form of religion or culture.
I stood in front of the lords sculptures.
Looking closely at the details.
"Ah, Lukas. What makes you come here?"
I looked to my right to see the church's priest.
Wearing a full black clothes.
But the most interesting part of his wear was the complete white cloaks or garments that covered his chest.
Reminded my of those orange garments monks wear.
But the most unique feature of all was the fact that the white cloaks completely covered his entire face, you couldn't even see it.
And it was forbidden for anyone to even see it.
They dedicate their whole lives under the lords.
And if they ever reach of old age or pass away.
The preachers or anyone worthy of becoming a priest take their place.
When they die, their skulls were considered sacred and holy so they basically become shrines.
"Ah, reverend Becker. It's nice to see you again." I said.
"Yes, it is the utmost pleasant seeing you here again. It has certainly been awhile." He said.
"Yes, reverend. I came here to donate some goods for the front!" I raised the bag in the air.
"For your sister, I presume?"
"Yes, my mother kept on insisting."
He slowly raised his hands and reached out as I gave the bag to him.
He was wearing complete white gloves.
It was important for priest to not show a single skin as their body were seen as holy.
"Are you still doing your weekly prayers?" He asked.
"Eh, I've been quite busy and I couldn't really find the time to do so." I chuckled a bit as I scratched my head.
"Heh, you shouldn't be. You don't always have to do it. Even once an year is more than enough. I'd say to take care of yourself."
"Yes, reverend. I will or at least try. Anyways, I should be heading back by now."
"I understand, Lukas. May our lords be with you." He said as he did a small gesture with his hands.
"May our lords be with us." I replied as I also did a small gesture with my hands.
I turned around and left the church.
Once I stepped outside, someone yelled in the distance.
"Lukas! Is that you?"
I turned to see who it was only to see a familiar figure.
"Gideon! You left school early. What are you doing here?" I asked.
"I have the same question, why aren't at your job. Shouldn't you be helping with the war? You do know every bullet you transfer and one life saved." He said.
"Ah, poo. Forget about, it's not really important right now. I went here to donate some goods for the war so I'm still helping with the war."
"How about the them?"
"Who? Tomas and Wesley?"
"Yes, you really should be helping them."
"Don't worry about them, you shouldn't care more about your academic achievements so you can enter a university. Rather than us hooligans."
"Well, you're my hooligans and you should never forget that."
"Heh, well you're not wrong." I scoffed scratching my head.
"Your birthday is about to come up! Is there anything you want?" He asked.
Maybe eat a Korean barbecue. Gods they were good.
My mouth drooled in saliva as I thought of eating it.
"Uh, you ok? What are you thinking right now? Gideon said.
I wiped the saliva away.
"It's nothing. Just a simple meat can work. Or maybe just anything good to eat."
"You're so boring. How about something you actually want?"
"There's noting I want other than food! Have you seen the state of the economy right now?"
"Fair point." He replied.
"Well then, I have to take my leave, my mother is waiting for me."
I waved my hand goodbye as I left.
"Have a nice day!" He yelled whilst also waving his hand.
