The reason why Legendary Pokémon are called Legendary Pokémon, besides having stats, talent, and rarity far exceeding ordinary Pokémon, is most importantly their Signature
Signature Moves are basically only possessed by Tier 1 Gods or some Mythical Pokémon; Tier 2 Gods do not have Signature Moves.
Among them, Entei is a special case, perhaps because it shares the same origin as Ho-Oh, so it obtained part of Ho-Oh's power when it was resurrected, thereby possessing Sacred Fire.
But the vast majority of Tier 2 Legendary Pokémon do not have so-called Signature Moves; what they possess is simply a longer lifespan than ordinary Pokémon, higher stat caps, and generally stronger talent.
The reason Legendary Pokémon are spoken of so miraculously is fundamentally just their rarity; one can always meet a few ordinary Pokémon while traveling, and the reason pseudo-legendary are called pseudo-legendary is that they are both rare and have high stats.
Legendary Pokémon, naturally, go without saying; they are even rarer existences, and those with Signature Moves are the rarest of the rare.
Every Legendary Pokémon's Signature Move has its special use. For example, Ho-Oh's Sacred Fire can burn for thousands of miles with a single thought, reducing everything to ashes, or it can revive all things with a single thought, saving creatures that have lost their lives.
This is the God of Nirvana, Ho-Oh.
Similarly, Lugia's Aeroblast also has its exclusive effect: compressing air to the limit and then bursting it out in one go. This move is definitely one of the best among all Legendary Pokémon in terms of explosive power; as long as it hits the opponent, it can perform an all-around attack, with countless air currents turning into sharp blades frantically cutting the opponent's body.
In this way, the vitals and weaknesses hidden in the opponent's body will be accurately struck by Aeroblast. As long as it hits, the damage Aeroblast causes to a Pokémon can be said to be extremely terrifying.
But conversely, if it fails to hit the opponent and is blocked midway, then the special effect of this move is lost—
This is one of the reasons why Aeroblast was blocked. Since it's one of the reasons, there must naturally be a second.
The second reason Aeroblast was blocked was that Lugia was charging another skill, which is the Oblivion Wing being used now!
Oblivion Wing, Yveltal's Signature Move, possesses a dense Power of Death. After hitting the opponent, it will continuously devour the opponent's life force and convert it to itself.
When used by Yveltal, who holds a divine position, it can cause all things to wither, return everything to deathly silence, and take all life force wherever it goes as its own.
The current Lugia obviously cannot achieve that level, but having a little Power of Death is still no problem. After all, she already possesses Yveltal's power in her origin, and that power is even more than the power of the God of the Sea she originally possessed!
Although Aeroblast is a Flying-type move, it actually condenses Lugia's psychic-type power. Without the psychic-type, Aeroblast actually cannot exert its full power.
Similarly, the same goes for Oblivion Wing. Don't be fooled by it being a Flying-type move; with the dense Power of Death it contains, who would believe it doesn't carry some Dark-type power!
The eruption of Oblivion Wing directly caused the Trick Room to manifest and then shatter with a bang in less than a second!
With the shattering of the Trick Room, the rules within the space returned to normal, while the Power of Death continued to spread. The cold wind blowing over turned into nothingness the moment it touched the Power of Death.
To be precise, it turned into power for the Death Wing!
As the dense Power of Death bloomed on the field, a few drops of sweat couldn't help but fall from Slowbro's forehead, but they were instantly evaporated. At the same time, she strictly followed Lorelei's command and continued to use the Blizzard move.
The freezing wind blew continuously in the air, and the wind force became increasingly violent. The beautiful Powder Snow carried within it would deal massive damage to the opponent the moment it touched them.
Underneath that beautiful move, endless killing intent was hidden.
Lugia's side was different—her move's killing intent was very heavy on the surface too!
Dense Power of Death continuously condensed on Lugia's wings. The next second, Lugia slammed her wings—black and red energy wings suddenly unfolded like burning underworld fire, each flap stirring up air currents that distorted space.
The dark red light interwoven within the pitch-black energy was precisely the manifestation of Yveltal's exclusive Power of Destruction, carrying the terrifying pressure of 'all things returning to nothingness' as it swept towards the Blizzard!
"Boom—!"
The black and red wing shadows swept through the air. Wherever they passed, the Blizzard Slowbro was so proud of melted away frantically like snow meeting a blazing sun.
The ice and snow sufficient to freeze all things were decomposed into the most basic energy particles by the Power of Death the moment they contacted Oblivion Wing. Far from being able to cause any damage, they were instead entangled by dark red energy threads, turning into nourishment for the Death Wing.
The violent freezing wind stalled before the black and red light curtain, then was torn apart and swallowed by the wing-wind, without even a trace of chill remaining.
The gasps from the audience were drowned out by the roar of the energy collision. Allen's voice trembled with disbelief: "That... what kind of power is that! The Blizzard was—was actually erased directly!"
The Blizzard that could freeze and shatter Aeroblast just moments ago actually had no resistance at all and was directly erased before Lugia's new move. What a terrifying move this is!
Isn't Lugia's strongest move her Signature Move, Aeroblast? Why is there a move stronger than Aeroblast? Allen felt his Professional Level theoretical knowledge was being ground into the dirt.
At this moment, Slowbro on the field was completely exposed to Oblivion Wing, with dense Power of Death surrounding Slowbro from all sides.
This made Slowbro, who was already like a candle in the wind, feel a threat of death.
"Protect!" Although the Trick Room had disappeared, the priority of the Protect move is the highest among all moves. Although the opponent's move called Oblivion Wing was overbearing, it was still delayed for a moment by the Blizzard.
This split second was enough for Slowbro to use Protect.
"Slow!" Slowbro stared with its dazed eyes, and a clearly visible blue barrier appeared in front of it. Although it looked thin, it was indestructible!
"Boom!" The dark red Oblivion Wing directly hit the Protect barrier. That barrier, which could temporarily withstand even ordinary Divine Domain Power, melted like ice and snow upon touching Oblivion Wing, starting to collapse in the blink of an eye!
The black and red energy formed a massive wing-shaped shockwave, crashing straight into Slowbro's chubby body.
Slowbro's pink body was instantly sent flying, drawing a desperate arc in the air.
The last glimmer of light in its dull, large eyes went out, and its originally rounded body quickly shriveled—the Power of Death from Oblivion Wing was frantically devouring its life force. Aside from Xerneas's life force, even gods of the same level would not dare to take an Oblivion Wing head-on.
Although Slowbro has Champion-level power, it was still inadequate when facing such a grand ultimate move.
As Slowbro flew out like a broken kite, the victory or defeat of this match was thus settled.
"Slow—Slowbro is unable to battle, Lugia wins! The winner of this exhibition match is the contestant, Ash!" Allen's voice carried a slight tremor as he announced the result of this match in disbelief.
An unprecedented uproar erupted from the stands. No one could have imagined that Slowbro, who held an absolute advantage, would be so crushed.
Furthermore, in this exhibition match, Ash did not have a single Pokémon unable to battle, and his two Pokémon still had quite a bit of stamina left.
No attrition warfare, no underhanded tactics; just like that, fairly and squarely, he defeated Lorelei's two main Pokémon one-on-one. This reality was simply too unbelievable.
That's the Ice-type Elite Four Lorelei! A super Trainer with Champion-level strength, actually one of the top Trainers, losing to a green boy who hasn't even been traveling for a year.
One must know that a few months ago, Ash exerted all his strength against Lorelei's second-string Pokémon and could not win. Now he can defeat Lorelei's main force so easily—this speed of progress can no longer be called fast; it can only be described as bizarre!
Ash is indeed very talented, hailed as the most genius Trainer in Kanto's history, but Lorelei isn't just talk either!
At only twenty-five years old, she already possesses Champion Peak Pokémon. If placed in other regions, she would be a Champion one way or another; it's just that Kanto is a place where monsters appear frequently, resulting in her only being able to snag an Elite Four seat.
Even so, no one questions her talent.
If Ash is progressing, wouldn't Lorelei, also a genius, progress as well?
But at the Champion-level, any small level increase often takes three or four months, or even half a year to a year.
This is why Lorelei currently only has one Champion Peak Pokémon.
However, Ash's improvement completely defies common sense. Charizard, who could previously only fight to a draw or was even slightly inferior to an Elite Four Peak, can now actually defeat a Champion Intermediate Level Cloyster after more than three months!
What kind of speed is this! Since when did the bottleneck between Elite Four and Champion become so easy to break through?
However, if one were to say what was most shocking and staggering about this match, it was the second battle. The mutated Lugia, the shattered Aeroblast, and the powerful counterattack of an unknown move caused this match to constantly flip and reverse.
Until the last second, no one knew who would achieve the final victory.
Although the final result was Lorelei's failed God-slaying attempt, Lorelei definitely deserves to be said to have lost with honor.
After all, that was the legendary God of the Sea, Lugia, and a mutated variety at that, possessing a Signature Move even more powerful than Aeroblast.
It's not an unfair loss, alright!
Seeing that Oblivion Wing had successfully defeated Slowbro, Ash's taut nerves suddenly relaxed.
The actual power of Oblivion Wing is actually not as good as Aeroblast; in terms of destructive power alone, Aeroblast is still superior.
But the special thing about Oblivion Wing is that it can take the opponent's power as its own, choosing to either transform it into its own stamina or use it to increase its own life and health.
It is absolutely a special counter against living beings and energy.
As early as when Lugia used Aeroblast, she was simultaneously charging Oblivion Wing. In other words, Lugia was actually using two god-level moves at the same time.
If she had simply used Aeroblast, with Lugia's full strength, she might have been able to fight the opponent to a draw.
After all, the opponent's Slowbro was no pushover either. Its Champion Intermediate Level strength was even superior to Lugia's after using Aura. Even if she could barely match the opponent by relying on a Legendary Pokémon's physical fitness, as time went on, the opponent would still have the advantage.
Not to mention Slowbro also had the weather advantage, which even carried over into the Blizzard.
Even if Aeroblast could block it once, could it block it a second or third time?
For Lugia, Aeroblast is a grand ultimate move, but for Slowbro, although the Blizzard move also belongs to the ice-type's grand ultimate moves, the cost of using it is not that high compared to a Legendary Pokémon's Signature Move.
In a continuous clash, Lugia would inevitably be the one to suffer, so Ash chose to gamble, using Lugia's Aeroblast defeat and enduring some of the opponent's moves as a price to use Oblivion Wing.
With Ash's assistance, this gamble ultimately succeeded, and the results proved that Ash's gamble was worth it.
Both sides withdrew their Pokémon and then came to the middle of the field for a friendly handshake. The main purpose of this battle had been achieved; next was to wait for the fish to bite the bait.
"That was truly a wonderful match, Ash. I didn't expect you to progress so much in such a short time. Now I'm a bit curious about what level this little guy has reached." As Lorelei spoke, she cast her beautiful eyes toward the Pikachu on Ash's shoulder.
If one were to speak of Ash's absolute ace, only Pikachu would be worthy of that title.
Before Cynthia disappeared, Lorelei learned from Cynthia that Ash's Pikachu had actually lost to her Togekiss by a narrow margin.
Togekiss was not among the weakest of the Pokémon in Cynthia's hands but was of a medium grade; a Champion Advanced Pokémon is even at the ace level for some ordinary Champions.
The result was that Pikachu was only slightly inferior—and now a Charizard capable of defeating a Champion Intermediate Level has appeared. Truly a terrifying youth!
"There will be a chance. Pikachu is also looking forward to battling Miss Lorelei once. After... is over, let's battle again!"
Lorelei nodded, squeezing his soft hand and saying, "Then it's a promise. I look forward to an Encore battle with you, and this time I'll give it my all~"
