The aircraft glided silently above the endless brilliance of Atlantis before descending toward its heart.
Far below, a colossal structure emerged from the sea of crystalline towers.
Unlike the elegant gardens and peaceful districts they had just witnessed, this place radiated quiet strength.
Massive reinforced gates slowly opened.
Layer after layer of security systems recognized the aircraft before granting entry.
The jet landed inside an underground hangar so immense that mountains could have fit within its walls.
As the engines powered down, Dilli stepped onto the polished metallic floor.
He looked around.
"...This is the main research station?"
Betal smiled.
"No."
"This is only the reception hangar."
Shakthi looked at him with disbelief.
"You've started enjoying shocking us, haven't you?"
Even VEDA allowed herself a faint smile.
"Perhaps."
---
Gigantic blast doors parted.
The four walked into a chamber that seemed to have no end.
Rows upon rows of experimental defense systems stretched beyond the horizon.
Submersible fleets rested inside enormous docks.
Stealth aircraft hung from magnetic platforms.
Autonomous defense systems stood silently like sleeping giants.
Every invention represented years of relentless work.
Every machine carried the hopes of Atlantis.
Betal spoke proudly.
"While you cultivated..."
"...Atlantis never stopped evolving."
---
Holographic displays lit up.
One after another.
Advanced submarines capable of crossing the deepest ocean trenches.
Autonomous assault vessels designed to protect Atlantis' waters.
Long-range defensive missile networks.
High-speed interceptor aircraft.
Intelligent torpedo systems built to guard the underwater civilization.
Everything had one philosophy.
Protection before destruction.
Dilli quietly observed every display.
Occasionally nodding.
Occasionally asking a question.
Shakthi smiled.
"He looks like an engineer who has forgotten to blink."
Betal laughed.
"He hasn't blinked in nearly forty-two seconds."
---
Then...
VEDA dimmed every light inside the hall.
"Everything you've seen so far..."
"...was only preparation."
Three massive platforms slowly rose from beneath the floor.
"These..."
"...are the projects we waited seven years to show you."
---
Project One – Kavach Dome
The first platform revealed a beautiful crystalline sphere.
It appeared almost delicate.
Yet the hologram surrounding it showed an entire city protected beneath a shimmering shield.
VEDA began.
"We named it..."
'Kavach Dome.'
A translucent barrier appeared over the holographic city.
"It combines energy from specially adapted crystals with continuously collected solar power."
Betal continued,
"During peaceful times, stored solar energy can sustain the shield for extremely long durations."
The hologram shifted.
A simulated attack struck the barrier.
The shield absorbed the impact while its stored energy visibly decreased.
"In extreme situations," VEDA explained, "the shield can draw upon prepared energy reserves to maintain protection even under extraordinary stress. Those reserves would need replenishment after such events."
Shakthi slowly stepped closer.
"It..."
"...covers an entire city."
Betal nodded proudly.
"One day..."
"Perhaps much more."
Dilli reached toward the hologram but stopped just before touching it.
His eyes reflected the shimmering barrier.
"A shield..."
He whispered.
"Not a weapon."
VEDA nodded.
"As you requested."
---
Project Two – Garuda
The second platform rose.
Silence filled the hall.
Even Dilli forgot to breathe.
Before them rested an enormous stealth aircraft.
Its sweeping wings blended almost seamlessly into the darkness of the hangar.
Its surface seemed to absorb the surrounding light.
Betal smiled.
"We call it..."
Garuda.
Then he looked at Dilli.
"But..."
He couldn't resist grinning.
"VEDA insisted on giving it a nickname."
VEDA replied without hesitation.
"Nightmare."
Shakthi burst into laughter.
"That sounds exactly like something you'd choose."
Even VEDA's expression softened.
"It arrives unnoticed."
"It departs unnoticed."
"And its purpose is to discourage conflict before it begins."
Betal added,
"It incorporates multiple layers of protective technologies, including a compact defensive shielding system inspired by the Kavach project, designed to improve survivability in hostile environments."
Dilli slowly circled the aircraft.
He didn't see a machine.
He saw thousands of sleepless nights.
Millions of calculations.
Years of loyalty.
He gently placed his palm against its metallic surface.
"So..."
"This is what you were doing..."
"...while I was meditating."
---
Project Three – Golden Devourer
The final platform emerged.
Unlike the others...
It looked surprisingly simple.
A polished golden cylindrical device.
No intimidating appearance.
No dramatic shape.
Shakthi frowned.
"This?"
"This is the final project?"
Betal smiled.
"Appearances deceive."
VEDA activated the simulation.
A devastating blast spread across the holographic battlefield.
Then...
The Golden Devourer activated.
Instead of creating more destruction...
A luminous field drew the released energy inward.
The violent wave subsided.
Moments later, depleted Life Stones shown in the simulation began glowing once more.
VEDA spoke softly.
"We call this concept..."
Golden Devourer.
"It is intended as a defensive energy-recovery system."
Betal smiled proudly.
"My nickname was better."
Shakthi looked at him.
"What did you call it?"
He folded his arms.
"Elixir."
"Because instead of allowing disaster to remain disaster..."
"It transforms what would have been wasted into renewed energy."
The chamber became silent.
Dilli stared at the simulation.
Again.
And again.
His breathing slowly became heavier.
---
No one spoke.
Not Betal.
Not VEDA.
Not even Shakthi.
Finally...
Dilli laughed.
Once.
Then again.
Soon...
He couldn't stop.
The laughter echoed across the enormous hall.
Not the laughter of arrogance.
Not madness.
The laughter of a man whose impossible dream had somehow become reality.
Tears streamed freely down his face.
He covered his eyes with one hand.
"I..."
He laughed again through tears.
"I actually..."
"...have people crazy enough..."
"...to build all of this."
Betal scratched the back of his head.
"You did tell us to think beyond imagination."
VEDA added calmly,
"So we complied."
---
Shakthi quietly walked toward Dilli.
She understood.
She had seen him as a frightened young man.
She had seen him lose sleep worrying about his parents.
She had watched him train until his body collapsed because he believed he wasn't strong enough to protect the people he loved.
Now...
Those years of sacrifice stood before him.
She gently wrapped her arms around him.
"It's alright."
He buried his face against her shoulder.
His voice trembled.
"Do you know..."
"...what I wanted..."
"...before all of this?"
She nodded.
"I know."
"I just wanted..."
"...to make my parents proud."
"I wanted you to live without fear."
"I wanted our family..."
"...our people..."
"...our country..."
"...to never feel helpless."
His shoulders shook as tears continued to fall.
"I was always afraid..."
"...that no matter how hard I tried..."
"...it would never be enough."
Shakthi held him a little tighter.
She smiled through her own tears.
"You don't have to be afraid anymore."
---
Betal quietly looked away.
VEDA lowered the brightness of the holographic displays.
Neither interrupted the moment.
After several minutes...
Dilli wiped away his tears.
He looked once more at the three great projects.
Then toward Betal.
Then toward VEDA.
He laughed softly.
"I disappeared for seven years..."
"...and you two decided to redesign the future."
Betal grinned.
"You gave us a dream."
VEDA finished the thought.
"We simply refused to let it remain a dream."
Dilli stood silently in the center of the vast research hall.
Around him were remarkable machines.
Beside him stood the woman who had never stopped believing in him.
Before him stood the two companions who had transformed his vision into reality.
For the first time since Hope Island had vanished beneath the sea...
He felt no uncertainty.
Only gratitude.
And somewhere deep within his heart, the same quiet promise echoed once again:
"When we return to the surface... it will not be to inspire fear. It will be to prove that strength, guided by compassion, can protect hope."
