Simon Forrester tossed a few glistening white shrimp into the pot, covered it with a lid, washed his hands, pulled out a disposable towel, and had just turned around when he saw Sienna Thornton standing dazed at the door.
His heart skipped a beat, he dropped the towel and walked over, asking gently, "You're back?"
Sienna came back to her senses, leaned her hand on the shoe cabinet, and looked down to find her slippers. But Simon's greeting brought tears to her eyes, blurring her vision.
Her usual pair of slippers were nowhere to be found, and as she squatted down to search the bottom of the shoe cabinet, suddenly, she didn't want to search anymore. She just hugged her knees and silently wept.
Simon left and came back at some point, holding her usual pink cotton slippers, and placed them at her feet: "I took them out to wash this morning since the weather was nice."
As he spoke, he scooped her up and carried her to the sofa, then returned to put the slippers on her feet.
