The store was crowded and noisy, and Maeve decided not to say much to Gage Grant, letting him chatter non-stop by her ear. She simply ignored him.
Gage Grant talked till the end, probably realizing it wasn't fun to jump around alone, he stopped talking, closed his mouth, and soon disappeared.
Maeve sorted out the accounts and inspected the store once more, only then did she leave with the staff after closing the door.
Gage Grant wasn't outside; she thought he might have gone to the car first, so she went to the garage and found him smoking inside the car. She walked to the passenger seat, knocked on the window, opened the door, and got in.
Gage Grant handed her a cigarette, "Want one?"
Maeve always preferred ladies' cigarettes with less nicotine and a hint of menthol, making them refreshing to smoke. Men's cigarettes were harsh, but not unbearable.
