He exited Moments, found Sheng Yi's number, and was about to call her.
He wanted to see her—right now.
Just as he was about to get through, a call came in. The caller ID showed the two characters for Gu Yuan. Dao An's hand, holding the phone, paused for a moment. After a few seconds of silence, he quickly answered.
"President Gu."
This form of address would never change.
"Dao An, are you busy?" Gu Yuan didn't waste time on small talk. She first asked whether it was convenient for him to take the call.
Dao An could hear the anxiety in Gu Yuan's voice on the other end. He pondered, then said, "If there's something you need, President Gu, please say it."
Gu Yuan briefly went over the situation, picking out the key points.
After she booked the plane ticket, at first she could still get hold of Sheng Yi and get replies, but Sheng Yi never picked up her calls. In the end the calls simply wouldn't go through at all.
