The next day, to avoid making South Grant and Stella worry, the two of them pretended everything was fine.
Early the next morning, South Grant's phone rang.
It was Fiona Grant calling, which was unusual because she never called South Grant first; it was rare she took the initiative to call today.
"South Grant!" As soon as South answered, he heard Fiona's voice, a mix of fear and anger.
South Grant didn't know what got into him, and asked nonchalantly, "What's up?"
"What's with the road to your haunted villa, and why won't these people let me pass down the mountain?" Fiona had driven there today, but when she tried to go up, the people at the foot of the mountain stopped her, warning they would be unkind if she took another step.
Normally, when South Grant went in and out with Nathan Foster, no one stopped him.
So, she didn't know what was going on down the mountain.
At this point, South asked Nathan Foster, "Fiona wants to come in, but she's being stopped down there."
