She soon heard many footsteps again.
"Melody Thorne," it was Jared Quinn's voice.
"Sister-in-law."

Melody Thorne saw a tall, upright man walking along the path she had run from. Even from a distance, she could see Jared Quinn's eyes burning with rage.
The figure was tall and imposing, exuding a chilling aura.
The air around her was cold, and she suddenly felt some regret for agreeing to Elias Hale's request.
"Melody Thorne," the man's voice rumbled, echoing from deep in his chest.
As the footsteps approached, Melody Thorne hid further back, surrounded by tall weeds that just managed to cover her.
"Brother Jared, it's very possible that sister-in-law has already gone down the mountain. We saw Elias Hale being pursued just now but didn't see sister-in-law, so it's likely Elias Hale led them away, allowing her to go somewhere else.
"Bang," Melody Thorne heard a loud noise. In the faint light, she saw a striking red as blood gushed from Jared Quinn's fist.
