But more than Brant, the one most affected was the Colossus itself.
The violent orange glow in its eyes dimmed and faded. The red markings in its irises thinned until they disappeared completely and the maddened gleam in them drained away.
At last, the beast was free from its drug-induced frenzy.
Brant snapped his head toward the source of the roar, instinctively shifting his stance. For a brief moment, he was taken aback to see another Colossus charging toward him at terrifying speed, the surroundings trembling under its massive strides.
But then his eyes caught the trail of orange flames streaming from its back, streaking across the sky and toward the now-cooling mushroom cloud.
Recognition dawned upon him instantly.
Lu's Phoenix.
"What is that old coot thinking?" Brant muttered sharply. "Sending his beast away from himself—!"
His words died down in his throat as his gaze settled on the new Colossus's back.
"…Brat?"
