Chapter 124 - Chapter 123

Although it was Monday, Sobu High School did not start classes.

Not only Sobu High School, but almost every school in Tokyo remained closed. Classes were temporarily suspended for two days.

{T/N: Sobu school is in Chiba but it is closed too}

The reason for the suspension of classes was naturally because of the incident last night.

Even though ordinary people only remembered it as "a strange earthquake" or "a sudden blackout," the exorcist world knew better.

Demons had appeared.

The Exorcist Organization, exorcists from the True Cross Order, and several independent spiritual task forces were mobilized overnight.

Fearing that there might still be leftover demons in the area—they had also closed many of the facilities on the areas near Tokyo such as: Chiba, (which is famous for being a gateway to Tokyo), Soka, Kawasaki, Yokohama.

Tokyo entered a silent lockdown!

Teams of Onmyoji (/Exorcist) worked day and night, spreading talismans, sealing spiritual cracks, scanning for demonic residue. Exorcists carried out area-by-area purification. Any trace of miasma was investigated thoroughly.

There was a possibility that lesser demons—drawn by Satan's presence—had slipped through unnoticed.

No one dared to take that risk.

If no demonic activity was detected within two days, schools and public facilities would reopen.

Until then—

The city remained tense beneath the surface.

.....

When Gojo Satoru returned home, the house was quiet.

Too quiet.

He stepped into the living room and glanced around.

Empty.

Benio Adashino, who usually woke up early for morning training, was nowhere to be seen. Even she must have been exhausted—both physically and mentally exhausted—from the night's chaos.

"Guess everyone's dead tired," Gojo muttered to himself before he walked upstairs— toward his own room.

Click.

He opened the door of his room, walking in before closing the door behind him.

Click.

Locking it.

Without even turning on the lights, he threw himself onto his large, soft bed.

"Ahhh… my bed is still the best."

Gojo Satoru closed his eyes and couldn't help sighing, stretching lazily.

His body finally relaxed.

The tension from fighting Satan drained out of him in waves, even though he didn't let it show.

His left hand reached out to grab the pillow beside him—

But—The texture felt wrong.

Soft. Warm. Very warm.

And… breathing?

"…Huh?"

Gojo opened one eye, before he reached out his other hand.

Slowly. As to not distrub the creatures, he lifted the blanket slightly.

Under the quilt—

A girl wearing cute hamster-like pajamas was sleeping peacefully.

Blonde hair slightly messy.

Small body curled slightly to the side.

It was Umaru Gojo!

As if sensing movement, Umaru made a soft nasal sound.

"Mmm…"

She frowned slightly, arms rubbing together as cold air touched her skin.

Her small hand reached out instinctively, trying to pull the floating quilt back.

The blanket hovered in mid-air for a second—

Then dropped neatly over her.

She snuggled into it happily.

But then—

Her sleepy brain slowly processed something.

Wait.

She was sleeping alone in her room.

Why did the blanket float?

Umaru slowly opened her eyes and turned her head to look at the side.

Her unclear eyes finally glancing at the person who was laying on the bed beside her. Staring at him.

Gojo Satoru stared back at her.

The two eyes continue to stare at each other for a whe 4 minutes!

"…What."

"…What."

Before they both shouted at the same time.

"Why are you copying my line, you smelly big brother!"

"Why are you copying my line, you smelly little sister!"

Again.

In perfect sync!

{T/N: Bau Bau}

Gojo raised a hand.

"Stop."

To be able to speak in synchronization like that—only siblings could manage it.

Umaru's face turned red as she pulled the quilt up to her nose.

Even though she was extremely brother-con, even though she liked being close to him—Sleeping in the same bed suddenly like this?

Too fast.

Way too fast.

"Explain," Umaru demanded, eyes peeking over the blanket. "Why are you in my room this early in the morning?"

"Huh?" Gojo blinked in confusion as his expression change. "Your room?"

He slowly sat up, then looked around— Bookshelves, His sunglasses rack, His coat hanger, The large white curtains.

"…This is clearly my room." He them turn to his sister before pointing at himself, as he continue, "You break into your big brother's room and accuse me of trespassing?"

Umaru blinked, bewildered as she whisper to herself, "…Is this really not my room?"

Her eyes too scanned the surroundings to confirm her suspicion.

"…It's not." Then she spoke, embarrassment instantly spread across her face, before she turn her head to looked at Gojo as she stick out her small tongue and bonk her head lightly, "Tehe…"

"Tehe?" Gojo repeated flatly, "Why were you sleeping here?"

Umaru scratched her messy hair, as the memory of yesterday replayed itself slowly.

Last night she had stayed up late playing games and watching anime, the usual...Then she went to the bathroom half-asleep.

Then—

In a daze, she opened a random door that was closed to her room and collapsed onto a random bed.

"…I might have walked into the wrong room," she admitted softly.

Gojo stared at her. "…You might?"

Umaru quickly turned sideways, not wanting to talk about it anymore, "Anyway! I was too sleepy and just collapsed somewhere. Not my fault."

She squeezed her eyes shut dramatically.

Pretend to be sleep.

Yes.That was the plan.

If she acted natural, maybe it wouldn't be embarrassing.

Gojo rolled his eyes. "Still acting, huh."

He lay back down not wanting to waste his sweet sleep time as he pulled the blanket up, to his chest area.

Then—

Turned slightly towards the culprits who was shamelessly laying on someone else bed.

And hugged Umaru into his arms. Tightly.

"W-what?!" Umaru squeaked. Her entire body stiffened instantly, her face burned red.

No no no no—Why is it escalating?!

'This is too fast!' she panicked internally.

Gojo's voice came lazily beside her ear. "Don't overthink it. I'm tired. Sleep."

And then—

He actually fell asleep.

Small, steady breathing followed.

Umaru froze before she turned her head slowly to gaze at her brother sleeping face. "…That's it?" She muttered to herself, a little disappointed.

As she pushed herself closer towards him, her hands over his hand.

The warmth felt… comfortable. Safe.

Within minutes—

She also fell asleep, a sweet smile appearing on her sleeping face.

...

After sometime,

Gojo Umaru woke up again, this time because of the sunlight that was streaming through the curtains.

She blinked, before looking at the clock beside the bed.

10:04 A.M.

"…What."

She sat up abruptly, after noticing that the warmth had dissapear, her right hand subconsciously reached to the side—Empty.

She looked around, her eyes landing on the PlayStation lying on the floor, with an empty cola bottle next to it.

She was in her own room.

"…Did I dream it?"

Her temples throbbed slightly, she rubbed them.

Still confused, she slipped on her slippers and walked out into the hallway.

She pushed open the living room door.

Inside—Gojo Satoru was sitting calmly on the sofa, sipping coffee.

With a small white cat—Vanilla— was lying lazily in his lap.

Benio Adashino sat nearby, eating hagi cakes quietly, Kinako was next to her, also enjoying the sweets.

The atmosphere was unbelievably peaceful.

"Awake?" Gojo said casually, without turning as if nothing happened.

Umaru stared at him, scratching her head with some doubts, she wondered if what happened before was a dream or not?

Forget it. Why think so much?

She walked over briskly and sat beside him. Picked up a Moon cake (Hagi no Tsuki), took a bite of the delicious, sponge like cake.

"Mm! Delicious!" She said, in satisfaction as she quickly finished it.

Before she picked up the lazy kitten, and began to tease the kitty which caused it — "Meow! Meow!!" — in dissatisfaction.
