Chapter 234 - [DEM] 234: Master

Might Guy, despite becoming a jōnin, didn't have many standout moments.

His one iconic feat was in the final battle, where fans believed he nearly "kicked out the ending" with a single blow.

That earned him the title "Red Beast Guy."

To Morpheus, Guy was the epitome of effort, and the Eight Gates were undeniably powerful. But his attacks were too one-dimensional, easily countered. In the original story, if Madara Uchiha hadn't arrogantly tanked Guy's attacks, he could've defeated him a dozen ways.

Morpheus had a hundred ways to take Guy down.

As Guy charged, roaring and emanating intense chakra, Morpheus knew he'd opened the seventh gate.

"Daytime Tiger!"

Guy leaped, launching a kick. His chakra compressed the air into a massive cannon, roaring toward Morpheus like a tiger.

But in that instant, Morpheus vanished.

The air cannon smashed the ground, shattering it into layers of rubble, the shockwave toppling nearby buildings.

Guy, having missed, didn't have time to react before Morpheus appeared behind him.

"Sleep."

As the thought I'm done for crossed Guy's mind, his eyes shut, and he collapsed, snoring.

Shikaku, watching from afar, twitched. He'd known this spatial ninjutsu user wouldn't be easy to handle.

Whoosh!

At that moment, Sarutobi Hiruzen arrived with other high-ranking officials: Mitozuka Homura, Koharu Utatane, Hyūga Hiashi, and others.

"Shikaku, what's the situation?" Hiruzen asked.

Shikaku saluted and reported, "It's dire. The enemy uses a spatial ninjutsu akin to Flying Thunder God but more convenient—no markers needed. Anyone within a hundred meters falls asleep under a mysterious technique, impossible to wake. Long-range ninjutsu can be dodged with his spatial abilities. He's extremely troublesome."

Hiruzen was stunned, unable to devise a counter. Homura and Koharu exchanged glances, their eyes filled with caution and disbelief.

They trusted Shikaku's intellect, so where had this formidable enemy come from?

Hiruzen asked, "Does anyone know who this is or why he's attacking Konoha?"

The group exchanged looks, but no one spoke. They didn't know him.

Suddenly, Hiashi warned, "Careful, he's gone!"

They scanned around and spotted Morpheus nearby, just ten meters away—close enough to hypnotize them at any moment.

Hiruzen's group tensed, hearts in their throats.

"Who are you?" Hiruzen mustered the courage to ask after a few seconds of inaction.

Morpheus replied, "I'm the master of the Konoha."

"What nonsense! Konoha has no master!" Hiruzen retorted. Even the Hokage was merely a leader, not an owner.

Morpheus nodded. "True, it didn't before. But it does now."

Hiruzen caught on. "You want Konoha?"

"Exactly."

"Impossible!"

Morpheus smiled lightly. "You misunderstand. I'm not here to negotiate. I'm informing you: as of now, I am Konoha's master."

Hiruzen snapped, "I refuse!"

"Unfortunately, you have neither the right nor the power to refuse," Morpheus said calmly, activating his hypnosis.

Hiruzen began forming seals but collapsed mid-motion, snoring. Homura, Koharu, Hiashi, Shikaku, Chōza, and Inoichi followed, falling before they could finish their seals.

Some time later, Hiruzen awoke from his slumber.

It was a refreshing sleep, the best he'd had in ages. His aged, weary body felt lighter.

But the next moment, memories of his blackout flooded back. He jolted up, scanning his surroundings, and found himself in the Hokage Tower's office.

The spacious room held not just him but all of Konoha's top brass and clan leaders—even Danzō, the head of Root.

Like him, they were just waking up, exchanging bewildered looks.

Their gazes converged on the Hokage's desk, where Morpheus sat, smiling faintly.

"You're awake."

Hiruzen demanded, "Who are you?"

"Morpheus, master of the Konoha and the ninja world," Morpheus replied with a slight smile. "Satisfied with that answer?"

Hiruzen declared firmly, "Konoha has only a leader, not a master."

"That was the past," Morpheus said. "As of moments ago, the times have changed, former Hokage. Konoha is now mine, and I am its master."

His matter-of-fact tone irked many, but the memory of being hypnotized kept them from acting rashly.

Only Danzō, ever headstrong, dared to move. Having coveted Konoha for years, he wouldn't let an outsider take it, no matter how strong.

If he couldn't face this enemy head-on, couldn't he ambush him?

Danzō hid his right hand behind his back, forming seals to unleash a ninjutsu sneak attack.
