He carried her back inside.
The afternoon light followed them through the open door, falling across the hotel carpet in a wide warm strip, the curtain moving slightly behind them as the door slid shut.
He set her on the bed.
She lay there for a moment, her chest rising and falling, her dark hair spread out around her, her tail draped limp beside her on the sheets.
"Isn't that enough," she said. Her voice had nothing left in it that resembled her earlier composure. "I can't take anymore."
Liam looked at her. "You said it yourself. You're a succubus. This should be light work for someone like you."
She turned her head and looked at him with an expression that had given up trying to argue from a position of strength. "If I could use my magic right now," she said, "I would make you regret every single second of this."
