Yoga room was one of the smaller ones on the ground floor of the house, a space that had been cleared of furniture and fitted with pale wooden flooring and large mirrors along one wall.
Morning light came through the tall windows on the far side, falling in long strips across the floor where two mats were laid out parallel to each other.
"And hold it there," the instructor said, her voice calm and directive, the voice of someone who had learned to make instructions sound like suggestions without losing any of the authority behind them.
She was in her late twenties, her dark hair pulled back tight, wearing fitted grey activewear that moved with her as she demonstrated. "Feel that stretch along your spine. Don't collapse the lower back, keep it long."
Elena held the position.
She was in a low lunge, her front knee bent at ninety degrees, her back leg extended, both arms reaching forward along the mat, her chest hovering just above the surface.
