Dead silence was the overwhelming feeling Valyria gave off; Lynd felt no signs of life around him, and the sound just now clearly wasn't caused by falling lava debris, but rather by stones rubbing together as some creature crawled on the ground.
Lynd didn't overextend himself, directly drawing the Lost Knights Greatsword from his waist and changing his normal vision to a special vision that could perceive magic.
The previous pitch-black environment was instantly replaced by a world of countless wavy or granular magical energies; everything here had different magical fluctuations, and these fluctuations formed various shapes, like unrendered 3D objects, allowing Lynd to see the surrounding world in a different way.
As his vision changed, Lynd also saw something that surprised him.
Near a dragon bones not far away, a soft-bodied creature resembling a sea cucumber was wriggling; although it looked like a single entity, from its magical aura, it was actually formed by dozens of small individuals combined, and each small individual had a core similar to a magic source, which felt like scorching, burning lava to Lynd.
These soft-bodied creatures seemed to possess extremely high predatory intelligence; when Lynd noticed them and looked at them, they all stopped and their magical energy receded, as if entering a state of silence.
If Lynd hadn't clearly seen the entire process, he might have overlooked these soft-bodied creatures, mistaking them for stones.
This creature reminded Lynd of the records concerning Aerea Targaryen before her death: "Creatures of heat and fire made terrible noises beneath her skin, her flesh became increasingly charred until it was like crackling pork; smoke issued from her mouth and nose, and her eyes boiled in their sockets until they burst."
"Moroa and the others should like these little things," Lynd thought of Black Hollow at this point. Regardless of whether this thing was what caused Aerea Targaryen's death, it was a magical creature, perfect for the mages in Black Hollow to study. If possible, establishing a research base here might not be a bad idea.
Just as Lynd was lost in thought due to these mollusk-like magical creatures, they seemed to sense that Lynd's attention had shifted, and then quickly crawled across the ground.
Although they were soft-bodied creatures like snails or slugs, they crawled very fast, reaching Lynd's feet in a blink of an eye, then directly springing up from the ground and covering Lynd's face.
"Facehugger?" Seeing this attack method, a highly dangerous cosmic parasitic organism instantly came to Lynd's mind. At the same time, the telekinesis he had practiced for many years was instantly released, directly fixing these creatures in mid-air, rendering them unable to move.
Just then, Lynd sensed a mental force invading his mind, ordering him to release the soft-bodied creatures he had captured.
"To have mental control abilities and a certain level of intelligence, what interesting little things!" Lynd immediately found the source of this mental force was the soft-bodied creatures he controlled. An ordinary person encountering such mental force would probably have already been controlled, or at least greatly affected.
He remembered the records mentioning that Aerea Targaryen's first words upon returning to King's Landing from Valyria were, "I will never..." Clearly, something must have tried to control her at the time, but her strong will resisted it, and she never compromised until her death.
Moreover, the creature that parasitized her did not die after her death; it still tried to get out until it touched the ice water that cooled her body and was frozen to death.
King Jaehaerys, who witnessed all this, was terrified and subsequently issued a strict decree prohibiting any ships suspected of having visited the Valyria islands or the Smoke Sea from landing in any port of the kingdom. Any Westeros who visited Valyria would be executed.
Thinking of this, Lynd used telekinesis to peel off one of the parasitic creatures, then used the Ice Dragon Rune to create a freezing force, directly freezing it.
Through his special vision, Lynd saw that the moment the parasitic creature touched the extreme cold, its lava-like core completely petrified, and the creature's magical energy instantly disappeared. The entire creature turned into a hard stone.
Lynd placed the stone formed by the parasitic creature on the ground, then cut it open with a Valyrian steel sword to examine what was inside, and also to see if it was playing dead.
Soon, Lynd completely cut open the parasitic creature, took out its fingernail-sized core, and carefully examined it in front of his eyes.
