"That's truly unfortunate!" Eric casually expressed a little sympathy for Selina's tragic experience.
"Can I take that to mean your sympathy is limited?" Selina asked Eric, annoyed.
"Yes, very limited, Selina, after all, not everyone is like you, giving all their sympathy to those at the bottom of society."
Eric said coldly, "Every so-called superhero has a tragic childhood, and I believe you're no exception to that rule. Having a mother who alienated her child, preferred to spend time with cats over her child, and eventually committed suicide one day. And also having an alcoholic father who, out of hatred for his wife's suicide, vented his resentment and anger on the child, and eventually died from alcoholism."
"This is your life, this child is you, Selina, filled with those clichéd melodramatic plots often seen in third-rate stories, tragic, but too old-fashioned to resonate with modern people."
Listening to Eric's narration, Selina's mouth dropped open, "How is that possible? I clearly destroyed my city records, why do you know all this?"
Then she nodded, somewhat enlightened, "I forgot your status is not what it used to be. Well, I must say, what you're saying now is a bit harsh. At least, hearing it as the person involved, it makes me think 'You're really a jerk' from the bottom of my heart."
"One could say, you're only realizing it now, which is a bit late."
"Never too late. Every time I see you, I have a brand new experience with you, and each time I discover a new, unknown side of you."
Selina turned and smiled slightly at Eric, "Alright, we've arrived at our destination. This is the orphanage where I used to stay."
The somewhat old orphanage stood in the night, and Eric stood outside, observing it.
"The children are all asleep now, we can't just walk in so openly, and this orphanage has already listed me as an absolutely forbidden visitor."
Selina shrugged, took a rope from herself, and prepared to throw it towards the highest building of the orphanage.
But she quickly stopped that thought, after all, she had someone who could fly beside her.
Smiling at Eric, Selina put away the rope, "Do you mind taking me up into the sky?"
"What if I say no?"
"Then you're too unromantic!"
Selina stretched out her arms and jumped into Eric's embrace.
"After all, you put a mark on me, isn't that a strong declaration of ownership? Am I not subordinate to you alone? So, you have to accommodate some of my ideas that you might find annoying."
Selina clung to Eric's body like a cat, holding on tightly. If Eric didn't do something to stop her, she would probably climb up him like a cat.
Facing Selina's words, Eric was silent for a moment, then held Selina's graceful body and flew towards the highest building of the orphanage.
Entering through a corridor window, guided by Selina, Eric entered the orphanage dormitory.
The dark dormitory seemed to be waiting for Selina's arrival. As soon as Eric and Selina entered, the orphans lying in their beds immediately sat up.
"Sister Selina."
"It's me, Heller."
Selina walked over to a curly-haired little boy and took out the gift she had already prepared.
"This is the latest model of hearing aid. Wasn't your hearing aid taken by the staff? Just use this one, but…"
Stroking Heller's hair, Selina whispered, "Sometimes, you have to learn to fight them. You can't let them bully you casually."
"By the way, where did Blanche go?"
Looking around, Selina asked the children with some confusion.
"Blanche was sent to the hospital. She's been having a fever, and we don't know what happened." Heller explained to Selina, somewhat scared.
"Is she sick?" Selina's brows furrowed even tighter.
Seeing Eric's gaze fixed on Heller, Selina explained to Eric, "Heller can read our lips."
After asking the children which hospital Blanche was in, Selina pulled Eric's hand, ready to leave.
