Chapter 70 - Chapter 70. The Necromancer: Horrors in the Throne Hall

The Cursed approached the base of the throne and placed the artifact on the floor. It burst into a bright light, and a portal formed beside it. Inside, a dark plain strewn with bones was revealed, where tall black castles of ominous appearance stood.

A heavy groan came from the other side, and black winds that had arisen began pulling the Necromancer toward it. He awoke and screamed in horror. The otherworldly winds lifted him into the air and dragged him into the portal. After that, the portal closed.

High above, a deafening crash resounded, and the stone vaults of the throne hall vanished, suddenly shifting aside. The Cursed looked up and saw a gigantic humanoid creature with huge black membranous wings sitting upon the walls of the hall and peering inside. It was this creature that had pushed aside the stone vaults with monstrous strength. Two yellow flames burned upon its head, staring intently at the warrior.

It opened a gigantic maw filled with long, sharp teeth, and suddenly the air around the Cursed began to move as an incredible force pulled him upward. Small stones and some of the artifacts flew toward the creature. The monster spread its enormous fanged jaws wide. Preparing to devour the warrior, it continued drawing in air.

The Cursed used the magic of spaces, but it produced no result. Each new Messenger of the Curse became stronger than the previous ones, and killing them was becoming more difficult than ever before.

The fanged maw of the winged creature drew inexorably closer.

The Cursed used another ability. A gigantic bolt of lightning tore across the night sky and crashed into the back of the creature perched atop the throne hall. The monster shuddered, and for a moment the flow of drawn-in air was interrupted, but then it resumed again. Then the Cursed summoned another bolt of lightning. And another. Dark clouds were converging above the city. A heavy downpour began. Lightning of monstrous power struck the creature's head and back one after another, until they tore it apart and destroyed it. Its enormous body collapsed into the throne hall and crashed onto the floor. Black blood flooded everything around, mixing with the streams of fresh night rain.

The Cursed approached one of the large windows and looked outside. From this night onward, the city would live a new life. The rule of the Necromancer and the vampires had ended. He knew and felt that, by morning, the people would flood the streets and begin hunting the vampires, slaughtering every vile wretch they could find and catch. And they would track down and catch every last one of them, remembering the long years of slavery and terror the dark monsters had brought here. And it would not be difficult, considering that the Necromancer was dead and, without him, the vampires had lost their power. They would simply stand or lie helplessly where they were while they were cut to pieces. The inhabitants of the city would take revenge and reclaim their city. And this was only the beginning.

As for the Cursed, his path now led farther north.
